Hi, I have found that a lot of these newer and some slightly older planes are being released with modelled 3D switches and knobs for the avionics in the VC. I think this will eventually pose a problem with intergration of various free and payware avionics such as RXP's Ya intergrate them, and knobs stick through. Not to mention if you wanted to install the whole, say, GNS 530 package, ya can.. but knobs and such where they dont belong kills the look of these awesome aircraft, and in some cases actually makes it diffucult to adjust the addon guage (if a modelled knob is in the way, or even sticking out of the display) I hope that in the future these devolopers…

  2. Hi AVSIM,I'am the author of 'GA-Traffic'. As I start with the idea of making 'GA-Traffic' I posted on several places for people who will help me to test and develop the program. I got only a few intrested user and most time got no response. I know that there are more developers out there which have similar problems and I think it will be a good idea to make a forum for developers and intrested Flightsim user to share there ideas, search for tipps how to program, look for testers and discuss there ideas of tools nobody currently think about.I'm currently have several ideas for addons in my mind, but some of the ideas need information. So normaly I will try to find those in…

Hi:I have been a user of your web site for about a year now. I, like many others out there, have had an ongoing "crash to desktop" problem; though, admittedly, my difficulties have tappered off somewhat. I have hunted for a solution through the various forums. Unfortunately, too often there are terms used which I don't understand, or other threads assume certain knowledge which I lack. Any possibility of having someone with experience about this problem write an article or the like about the latest information about this glitch and possible solutions. I would be willing to assist, but I really don't have the technical expertise with Flight Simulator.(P.S. I've mispl…

I want to apologize for my last topic about this subject, to be placed in the general forum.I did so, because I had not received a notification of your answer in the proper forum, which I read only just now. However, I keep standing my opinion, that a software-bug like this is unworthy to a website of such a very high quality as Avsim is.I hope you can have this bug cured.Of course I agree with you that you locked my message for publication in the general forum!I hope you will accept my excuses.Paddy.

Hi AVSIM,after the great response from user to my program 'GA-Traffic' I thought that your site will make a review of the program to show up the goods and flaws it have, but I saw nothing. So I ask if you plan to do a review? I don't whant a criticless review but I think that 'GA-Traffic' is worth a review. I spent much time on it and know that many people would pay for a tool like this. So I think you should help the freeware community with doing more freeware reviews and give the authors of such tools a broughter feedback.

HelloIt's been a week now and no new uploads. What I find stange is the fact you normally post a message on the Home page to keep us informed.Nothing this time. To make things worse at least one of the threadson the Forums asking about it has been edited. Nothing in the threadwas nasty at all. I have been MODing on 2 boards for years and NOTHING kills a board faster than a heavy hand with the editing mouse.Tom, PLEASE....set the record straight. Has the new server died?Is the new file system a bust? Just tell us. AVSIM is a great siteand I have always found you very up front and open but somethingdoesn't quite feel right about this.FaxCap

Hi,I have been meaning to ask this. AVSIM does support the Orbiter Space Flight Simulator, and has been for quite some time, by providing a mirror site and forum here. But I wonder why AVSIM never really gave it some sort of formal review?Orbiter, you have to admit, is one of the finest Space Flight Simulators ever to hit the PC Market. Some folks may never have tried it because they think that perhaps a quality simulator certainly cannot be free. Or prehaps people tend not to because it does indeed have a very steep learning curve if you want to take on a monumental task, such as piloting the Space Shuttle to Orbit or simulate Apollo 11's historical moon landing, from lau…

Hello, I read a post from Tom in the ScreenShots forum proposing to split it, unfortunately I didn't make it in time to give my two euro cents so if you allow me I'd really like to write my opinion.I think it would be an excellent idea to split the forum, especially I'd prefer to have a section for "Commercial/Airliners/Heavies" and another one for "All the rest of things that fly".There were lots of good GA pics on the forum but the recent trend is only heavies and I noticed that a lot of people doesn't even post anymore their own GA/Military pics...Another problem is that usually airliners posts get a lot of comments and so smaller aircraft/helo posts usually can't be f…

Hi Guy'sI wondered if you were going to try and get this product and see how good it is for yourselves, and maybe organise a review of it for the other Avsim members to see,http://shop.game.net/ViewProduct.aspx?cat=10368&mid=323776and also I wondered if you had thought any more about trying that PC / FS Tune up facility offered by those guys that say they can make you're PC run faster and better, and get FS9 fps up very high by configuring you're PC correctly for you, (I can't remember the name of the company, I'm sure others would though, sorry)thanks,Steve.

Sometimes in pics or text posted in the Avsim forum I will pick up a really nifty little tip that makes sim life much easier. It might be cool if you had a monthly feature highlighting the "tip of the month" as submitted by a simmer. I don't know as if a prize would even be needed since most of us are just looking for ways to give back for all the freeware/shareware we've benefitted from over the years. Just a thought!David

Hi,Didn't know where exactly to post this, so I thought this is probably the most appropriate forum.I just wanted to suggest a review for 2 FREEWARE packages:1) Stellan Hilmerbys DC9 - For those who are familiar with this package no extra words are neccesary. A realistic, comprehensive panel. An almost complete procedure simulation, and an outstanding .air file (one of the best ever).2) Project Tupolev TU-154 B2. - This one is a true hidden jem!Almost everything is customized and built from scretch for maximal realism. No less than 14 subpanels! Many groundbreaking features such as a joystick calibration and control utility to provide the most realistic responses. A fully …

AVSIM Staff,It is great to see such a strong forum, especially one that is still free of charge. However, since your last policy change restricting the number of users, I have not once been able to download a single file. I realize that this is a global access, but I have not been able to get a single file at any time of the day or night, any day of the week.In order to keep up with your success, it is obviously going to require more expensive and larger servers. Those of us who work with Information Technology, can certainly appreciate the difficulties and costs of maintaining systems such as you do. I for one, would be willing to pay a resonable membership fee to fa…

This is getting freaky ...it's like this convention is my destiny or something...While on vacation last week in Maui on a submarine ride the guy sitting next to my sees my AOPA cap and starts a conversation about flying. Turns out he is a 757 captain for UAL! So I mentioned the convention and he tells me he just finished a check ride in Denver a few weeks ago. He gave me a lot of info about the simulators and some tips on flying the 757. He told me all about the custom cities available, says San Francisco is cool because you can actually fly under the Golden Gate Bridge and you can actually do loops and rolls in the simulators, too! How's that for a coincidence? I book 75…

I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone at AVSIM, who has got the library functioning after a hiatus of so many days. I am sure many hours of 'blood, sweat and tears' must have been put in. Congratulations!!!As an ex-tobacco addict, the days without a download from AVSIM convinced me that flight simming is an addiction, I would rather not do without.May I take this opportunity to request you to change your policy regarding having to keep ones registration 'alive' for the forums, by making the criteria as just 'logging-in' versus having to 'post' a message. Why insist on a post, when one may have nothing worthwhile to say. With best wishes for the future an…

Hi Tom & crewMany thanks to you all for superb forums...I have a request for one more! Would it be possible to have a Aircraft Painters forum. One of the largest contributors to the downloads section of avsim are aircraft repaints, in fact 70% of all downloads are aircraft repaints, yet repainters do not have a forum that budding repainters can come to for advice on using the various tools available and to learn about DXT3, Apha Channels, layering etc This is all terminology which applies to todays texturing of flightsim aircraft, but is probably not understood by the majoriity of would be repainters, myself included. It has been the devils own job trying to dig out s…

Tom & Team,I have been following you tribulations concerning your hardware problems and just wanted to say that all the background work you are completing to resolve these issues are wholly respected and appreciated. Naturally there are those who display impatience, (perhaps even a lack of understanding) but the vast majority of us know how much work (and resources) these issues are demanding from you.Keep up the good work, guys, and take all the time you need and, once again, many thanks for all your hard work.Regards,Andrew Tingle

Hello Avsim Team,I know you've had your work cut out for you with your hardware failure's, your not alone. Please take your time to get it right. I've been a daily tracker of your sight, and can appriciate, taking time to get everything right. I do however belive it's time to get another survey set up regarding what current flight sim as well as which version they are using, to help you clear out your archive in the library, I notice a ton of older sim add-ons in your archives, are simers still using fs98 or Fly?? Your thoughts. Also developers keep the civil jets, panels and sounds going ( 737 and up ).Thanks in advance

GentlemenI am a retired afficionado of the sim hobby. I like your web site, but regardless of the hour, the response time is very, very, very, slow. I have had problems at 1:30 AM EST, when it is 6:30-7:30 Am in Europe. I have given up logging in because of this problem. I think your problem is more prevasive than a heavy load trying to download files It affects your entire web site. If you do not address this problem quickly you are going to lose some of your followers. I am reluctant to pay $30 a year to FlightSim, but if they are the only game in town, then so be it.Stanner
