Hello,As team leader of the Team Scenery Germany 3, I know that there is not much we can do about negative reviews like the one recently posted on Avsim. A review is a point of view from a person and as such valid. However, when the review paints a very different picture than the readers of the same website have painted and the review does not reflect how an actual customer would experience the product, it might be time to publicly comment. There is a large group of users of the product who already commented and their reactions triggered this

I would just like to point out something that I see all the time, and I want to say up front that I'm not slamming anyone, I actually find this pretty amusing, but it is nonetheless a problem that I want to bring to someone's attention.Take a look at this review, and pretend that you have no idea what an IR motion Sensor is. Pretend that you've never heard of one.http://www.avsim.com/pages/1004/trackir/trackir.htmHow far into that review do you have to read before you can possibly figure out what it is that you are reading about, and what it's used for?Like I said, I've seen many examples of this and I'm not slamming anyone. I just happened to find this particularly goo…

Catpain on 1/24. Shouldn't it have a - and be Cat-Pain?Regards,BobShttp://s95171098.onlinehome.us/junk/aopa.jpgSeems the rage to talk about the "size and speed" of each others computer. Beat this if you can for solving novel/unique problem anywhere in the cosmos. ..Have K&E and know how to use it!

May I suggest that a date always be indicated for reviews. I know the copyright year is indicated at the bottom of each review, but it would, in my opinion, be very helpful to indicate month and year--especially helpful when looking at older add-ons. Also helpful as it seems many(?)most(?) developers do not indicate when a product is released. Sometimes a product can be a couple years old and no way to know..Maybe a similar suggestion to developers would be useful also..

Congratulations Avsim for again locking a thread for no apparent reason and for not being able to take any kind of criticsm. That shows a lot in the confidence that you have in your editorial value. I will draw my own conclusions for this decision.First you ask for volunteers for the reviews, fail to proof-read the review and publish a completely inaccurate facts and then you can't even take the laughter of the community. Hillarious. No reply or justification needed.Well done.Pat

Hi, I think that the review section of AVSIM.COM is one of the best parts of the site. Reading reviews is really fun, even if you don't have FS2004 and can't download any of the airplanes. I spend more time reading the reviews than flying the airplanes. I also love how comprehensive the reviews are. Flighsim.com has reviews but yours are so much more detailed. However, I noticed that the old reviews started going offline. For example FS98 Aircraft reviews, FS98 Scenery reviews, and Commercial Sim reviews (I remember there used to be Flanker 1.0 review). Why is this happening? Did the server crash or did somebody delete them? Am I the only one who is missing them?I think th…

Hello,With amazement I noticed that a hotmail email address is not allowed on Avsim. I have been a *paid* subsciber with hotmail for many years and my ISP email address is only known to my family and some of my clients I've had for a long time. This has been very effective to control the junk mail. So here my question to the Avsim staff: why is a hotmail email account not allowed? And don't try to tell me that it has anything to do with security, because that would be a lie. I have been an IT professional for almost 20 years and I know better than that.My guess is that Avsim reserves the right to sell the email addresses for profit to advertisers / spammers but if you…

I added a post to the following thread pointing out a flaw in the calculation of percentages in this survey that doesn't seem to heve been picked-up:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchTo reiterate, the flaw is that the percentages are calculated by dividing the the number of replies to a particular aspect of a vendor by the total number of replies, which includes replies from those who haven't bought anything from that vendor.Taking Abacus as an example (simply because it's the first alphabetically) there were 12 replies to the statement "Product quality is typically excellent". The corresponding percentage is calculated by dividing this figure b…

I read with interest your front page item regarding "How international are we?" To have viewers from 142 countries is an outstanding success and shows what a positive role flight simulation plays in promoting goodwill and harmony around this troubled world. Here at British Airways Virtual we can't match your total but we still have members in 61 different countries and we're certainly proud of our small contribution to the flightsim community.Well done AVSIM. Keep up the good work.Rob ParkerDirector Online Flying BAV

Thanks for the great survey.I was a bit disappointed that Perfect Flight (fs2000.org) was left from the survey. I've had nothing but bad experience from them and thought the survey would be a great way to speak out on my experience with them.On the brighter side, there's a few vendors in there that I never heard of and it sent me straight to their sites to see what they have.Good stuff.BobMemphis, TN USAKMEM

I think that your idea to do a survey of FS Software Vendors is an excellent one. There have been some vendors that I have been very disapointed in. I know that you are probably going to hear a lot of "you left off my favorite", but some of the vendors that were listed in the poll I have never heard of. Looking at the results of the poll, very few others have heard of them either! (Or at least purchased from them.) The point that I am trying to make is that I have purchased several products from Real-Air Simulations and they have always provided an excellent product. AVSIM has even reviewed their products before. I was just surprised you left them out.Anyway, thanks for p…

I am more than happy to participate in the survey. But, I do think that a request for income information should be optional. I simply do not make such disclosures unless absolutely necessary, such as when applying for a credit card or loan. I suggest you change your income disclosure policy so that I,a nd others of like mind, can participate. Thanks for your consideration...Sherm

It should be said ,that this forum my be the most democratic of all of them.Other than some not to "swift comments',of which we may all be guilty of,this forum is most tolerant. The biggest story, that will effect our world of Simming is being properly aired here. Its also being encouraged. That by asking us to participate in the survey re: X-BOX.How healthy this is.Reading the multitude of the thoughts and posts regarding this volatile subject, revels the intelligence of the participants.Outstanding!. In some totalitarian places ,reasonable debate,or intelligent discussion are suppressed.Any concern, is being referred to a "Don't Worry ,Be Happy,Drink more Cool aid" at…

I was wondering if there is a membership fee to join avsim? Is there a "premium" membership? I didn't see any info on the home page, and was wondering. If there are no membership fees, how do you guys "stay airborne" in regards to covering fees?Thank,Patrick

My apologies, if I am missing something, but isn't the release of FSCargo and the ATR version of FS2Crew worth a headline?I am more or less relying on your information about product availability and releases without sifting through all the forums and I couldn't find a single note about those two releases, although they have been mentioned on all "other" FS websites. Thanks
