Why do you lock a post just because a person has a different opinion of how FSX works/operates? Is this forum just for the a really excited user? I have read numerous posts where the OP states that FSX runs perfectly and smoothly on his/her computer. This is a very objective statement. Some people are very satisfied sitting in front of a stuttering, hitching screen. To them, this is "as real as it gets". I doubt that 95% of the people that claim FSX runs smoothly have never seen a really smooth flight simulator in action. Just my opinion. Time to lock this thread!!

I have almost every pay-ware airliner that is worth having and when I received an email that notified me about the AVSIM Readers Choice Awards pole, I was very happy to log on and participate.I was quite disappointed to see that, although many very high quality sims were listed like Level D, PMDG, Majestic and Flight 1, I did not see my absolute favorite 737 pay-ware sims by Ariane Designs in the list of choices.Ariane's 737 NGs with the VCe panel works seamlessly with TrackIR like no other simulation available on the market and my personal experience is that they have a higher quality level of support than any other developer I have been in contact with.Their support wil…

Avsim,I was just wondering if your staff reviewers could update the email address' that they provide in their reviews, I've sent two emails to two seperate reviewers asking them about certain features on products that they reviewed and neither of them got back to me. Reviews are important to me as they help with potential purchase decisions. Here is a copy of one of those emails, just so you can see I wasn't out of line or criticizing anyone's opinions, just a simple question about a product.>>Hi David,I was reading your review on VFR Real Scenery for England and noticed that you didn't post any night shots, I've been eyeing this scenery for a while, but have yet t…

Dear Sirs.I was very interested to read the article Pushback Frustrations by Joe Glasper.I found it interesting, and also informative. I think Joe dropped right in place with the article as this has never actually been documented anywhere that I can remember. With this in mind, I would like to run a similar kind of front page news sheet that would be asking some important questions regarding aircraft painting for MSFS, rather than just dictating to us as some tutorials tend to do.The main point of the news page would hopefully be to get some help from the developers in their paint kit distributions for All of us budding painters. What I would like to ask is what guidelines …

Hi, no offense to the staff, but I really don't like the look of these forums - they're ugly.I know of a really nice forum software called RadiantBoard which is really great and modern, full of AJAX!I really suggest converting, it'll really make these forums much better.

Ok Tom. It's been over 3 1/2 months since you last posted to your blog. How about some updates or, at the very least, a spring clean? You don't want those cobwebs to get too big do you? :-) :-)

Has anyone looked at the 777-300 called Naked Air ? It doesn't offend me, but your users are a very mixed crowd.Just my 2 cents..Cheers,Bob

Your recent announcement that ATCsimulator is available in a demo version appears to be in error.Nowhere on their site is there a demo version offered, and clicking on the "Order" icon takes you directly to Paypal registration. The site has a link to a demo VIDEO, but no demo version of the software.Chuck

This is meant primarily in jest, but I want to respectfully correct the author of the above-mentioned article. At Boeing, at least in my area, where we've been working on rudders and other parts of the first couple of shipsets, we affectionately refer to the aircraft as the "plastic plane", given the abundance of composite materials used in its construction. I know, I know, we all refer to those high-flying, long distance tubes that carry 250+ pax as heavy metal, but I think we're due for a paradigm shift. ;)Best regards,Jon

Ground2K is "ground breaking". It is the first program that literally combines almost all of the highly technical VTP 1&2, mesh, landclass and LWM developed knowledge. It does so in a reasonably user friendly package. I have sucessfully done very long coastlines, islands, lakes, long rivers, minor mesh adjusments, and landclass fixes. A real Swiss Army Knife. As Christian Fumey evolves the program interest will increase as will the activity of those needing assistance. People who work with Ground2k must presently sort through the various messages in the Scenery Forum in hopes of finding an answer. Also, as the popularity increases Christian will be loaded with "help me…

I was looking over the review on the front page of Just Flight's Military and Jet update to their AI packages - and came across this incorrect myth:The planes in these packages were created using GMAX, which ultimately gives the end user a frame rate friendly ..... aircraft to view. Some of the most FPS hog AI aircraft around are GMAX, and some of the most FPS friendly AI aircraft around are FSDS.What makes an aircraft FPS friendly is polygon count. The lower, the better - but of course lower polygon counts do lessen the amount of detail possible.Equally important is Levels of Detail (LOD). Basically, each LOD should loser the polygon count about 10-20% from the next highe…

Hello,I dont know if anybody knows about Alan Johnson, He is a BBC reporter based in Gaza who was kidnapped from his office on the 12 of March. There has not been much news about him although it is said that he is alive. My dad worked in media and he was a familiar face around the BBC center. In a bid to secure his release, the BBC has made a link in the form of a button (which can be viewed here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/world/...on/default.stm) They are urging people to put it in as many places as possible. Is it ok if i have it in my signiture? i can get rid of the pmdg one for time being if needed. Just dont want to break the rules! Thanks in advance,Dave

I would like to offer a constructive suggestion regarding manufacturer's promos on the "Today's Headlines" section of AVSIM's front page. Yesterday, you ran a short announcement (copied below) of price reductions on many GoFlight items, and provided a link to GoFlight's home page. I have high regard for GoFlight, so I clicked the link and attempted to find the price reductions. They weren't mentioned anywhere on GoFlight's front page, nor in the "News" section (which hadn't been updated in over a year.) I spent quite a while searching GoFlight's site, and saw only one item -- rudder pedals -- listed on sale. Everything else appeared to be its normal full-retail price…

Hi All:I've got to get this off my chest. Anyone else feel this way?Seems Microsoft has done it again. Before FSX even hit the shelves, they put out screenshots of gorgeous scenery, reworked airports, realistic looking runways, taxiways and a multitude of other mind captivating additions to the program. Then, a trial version. Limited flights, limited time, just enough to prime us and we got primed. The truth came out when we purchased it and installed it on our computers. What good is a program that can produce great graphics if you have to bring the graphics slider all the way over to the left, as they tell you to do, to get it to run at a framerate that is almost usable…

Your Phantom story on the main page links to a downloadable file that contains copyrighted music. Unless I am mistaken, this is the reason why we lost the Videos forum - just do not want to see the news section disappear too ;)

I finally recieved my copy of FSX from AVSIM as one of the 400 attendees. So thank you. However, my wife was also a registered attendee and is due a copy which has not yet been recieved. Is this due to AVSIM not having send out all of the copies as of yet? If so, when can she expect hers? Thanks for a quick replyJames Dowgialoa.k.a.

To The Management -Once again I feel betrayed by AVSIM in the sense that it hasn't thoroughly checked out a product for whom it adds an announcement to it's news on the front page. Now granted, don't take this to supplement or replacement the fine review process here at AVSIM. But I believe AVSIM should at least go so far as to check whether or not a product exists, has major problems installing, or has any other issues commonly associated with the buy-online, instantly-install process many of us go through. My own case (and it's not the first) is with AirNav Systems FS Live Traffic X, featured last night and today on the front page. I purchased, installed, and otherwise di…
