I got a PM fom someone named MichaellRunyon saying my computer is sending spam, to check my computer and perform a online virus check at our site immediately. And if I do not pass the test my avsim account will be deleted and a complaint will be fowarded to my ISP.Is this for real? The link given to take this "test" does not work. Also I use MalwareBytes and Kaspersky and those say my computer is clean. So is this a real PM from this guy? Or just someone causing trouble? Here is the PMDear, Joseph29!Spam sending from your computer was detected. We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately: <removed by mod>If you…

:( Don't want to play the patriot game too much but would like to point out that the Sea Fury (news, Racing Sea Fury couple days ago ) was a Hawker aircraft - British - used by the FAA as in Fleet Air Arm (Royal Navy) NOT the FAA as in the Federal Aviation Administration. See Wikipedia et al. One of the greatest and fastest propellor fighters post war on the carriers we still had then. Otherwise, keep up the good job!Mike

While realising that an open forum way not be the place to air a grievance, I can find no other way to communicate with you.I made my first purchase from the Avsim Store on 4th March and paid by Paypal.Although this was immediately receipted by Paypal. I have had no communication whatsoever from Avsim to date and drew a complete blank in searching for a follow up address or support page.I tried emailing one of the nominated staff members but to no avail.I have previously purchased goods from Carenado and Captain Sim for which a download code was sent immediately.I consider 9 days with no response absolutely deplorable and will reconsider any future purchase from Avsim.Bil…

Hi there,Hope its ok to post here...I have sent email to AVSIM staff using the contact details on the main page, but so far no responses yet.I appreciate that people are busy, but I sent in an item of NEWS for consideration on the main page, but I have not even had an acknowledgment of the message. The original message was sent to TOM on 1st March and I copied Robert Kirkland in on it on the 3rd March. Is it too early to expect a reply?I'm sorry if perhaps I should not be posting this here - but I do not know whether the message has been received or is in someone's spam folder. Thanks for your kind assistance.Regards,Lee JamesBritish Airways Virtual

Unless Capatain Sim have been burning the midnight oil, it looks like there's a typo on the main Avsim page, claiming they've updated their Boeing 777, which should read their 727.Al

Being a senior <cough> on a fixed income, is it ok to post a (FSX) software DVD for sale or trade here at avsim? I would prefer to sell it to a member here rather than ask for a refund.

Hi,BackgroundI've noticed that a lot of the Avsims commercial members use signatures that present what commercial company/interest they represent. This is good since I may then judge if any post by a commercial member on a specific topic might be in the sphere of influence.ProblemI've lately read a thread in the FSX forum that got locked down. No problems with that. My problem is that one of the posters in that thread was a commercial member. But there is no information available about what commercial interest he represents. There is a link in his sig to a blog, but I'm not sure if this blog reflects his relation with a commercial interest or what. I really can't find out…

8 years old. Pretending to be an adult as I wrote to Beechcraft to say I wanted to buy a plane. They sent me back the most beautiful color brochures you can imagine showing their Musketeer lineup. 3 versions... the 'Sport' with 2 windows on the side of the fuselage like the Cherokee 140, The 'Custom' with 3 windows like the Cherokee 180, and the 'Deluxe', with 4 windows like the Cherokee Six. WOW! I was in little kid heaven! 4 years later, age 12, my Dad takes me to an Airshow at St. Paul's Speed Holman Field, and gets me in line for a 2 penny a pound airplane ride... my first ever! I could not believe my luck! Long lines of kids waiting, long lines of various aircraft ta…

I had a hard drive failure on my flying PC. The PC Im on now was used for FS98 and just simply doesnt have the wherewithall to handle FS2004 or FSX. Now I have my new Hard Drive installed. What now?Wouldnt it be cool to have a library section specific to this circumstance, which nearly everyone goes through at some point? We need a section for each FS version that has the Update files, Patch files, Bridge files, most commonly used utilities, etc. all in one place. You know, the crap that everyone has to search for anyways is found all in one section. You can call it the FS Starting Over section, or something more clever. Is this just me being lazy or forgetful? OR is this …

Tom - At the beginning of a new year, I wonder if the subject survey might be restarted in order to better reflect where we are at in 2010.My recollection is that each of us can respond only once. Hence the data shows a pic of the past- not today's reality. Clearly, in recent months, many simmers have adopted FSX, while at the same time many others have reverted from X to FS9.And we have all aged, (gracefully I hope!) while at the same time we have had the opportunity to welcome many new young simmers to our hobby.I think all of us would welcome the opportunity to vote again- to reflect where we are NOW as we move into Decade Two of the millenium.I'm sure the software dev…

Dear All,I have been attending the forums at AVSIM for over 6 years, initially under a different forum name, which I changed when I returned to the flight sim hobby, following a long illness. (Can't explain why I wanted to use a new forum identity after that experience, I just did).Having got years of valuable help, hopefully having made some contribution as a forum member, this is the week that I have decided to leave this forum permanently. Before I go any further, this is not one of those posts where someone announces they are leaving, deeming themselves important enough that people will in anyway be sad, or will beg them to stay. I know that virtually no-one knows m…

A couple of days ago I posted a question in the Hanger Chat Forum asking if polls were available. I received a short reply saying "Sorry, they're not" but no explanation was offered as to why.Given we have a AvSim User Surveys and Opinion Polls Forum this seems to be the ideal place to run them. And I'm sure the forum has the capability to run them as I answered one recently about Aviation News.I was disappointed in the brevity of the reply as it didn't explain if they were only available to certain people (Admin?) or not available at all. Polls are an excellent way of gauging opinion on various topics - far more so than responses to options in a message which cannot be e…

----- OPEN LETTER ----------------Dear Staff members,There is a person in Holland, Robert-Jan Oosterloo, who keeps a list of all freeware sceneries available for FS2004 and FSX. This list can be found on http://walhalla.mine.nu/fs2004.phpThis person does this research continuously and in a meticulous way since a long period (surely, for more than 5 years).I have noticed that people in several forum posts are being referred to his site and found the freeware scenery they were looking for.My question is now the following. Why can such a guy, performing a non-profit task, not receive a reward in some way, if I compare with all the rewards that are given to commercial add-ons…

yo Tom A.. you ol' gimma :) Joe here, Capt'n S... I am sure you remember me ;) ... but.......................In this instance, I think you were served a severe injustice, and unfortunately, Brit law is not as it seems, as is US law, its all down to dosh.Ban me if you want to, I will understand, but at least I can say to you openly that you were, in this case, severely wronged..I wish you n the team every success... I really do.thanks for all the effort in keeping the superb Avsim brand going. it means so much to so many...Joe..

Dear moderation team, greets from Norway and sorry for any bad english!I wish to raise a complaint about what i think is extremely unacceptable behaviour on the part of ron hamilton of the eaglesoft on these forums. This person blatantly hi-jacks every available thread and opportunity to pull discussions towards his own commercial interests. The forum is filled with examples; ERJ posts, posts about wilco and 64 bits systems that ron turns into "we are pleased to report good compatibility with 64 bit in testing of our products". I think that developers have every right to be here on avsim and the forum is a better place for having discussions between those who buy and use …

As anyone with a passing interest in aviation or the stock market must know, the Boeing 787 is late. The product was announced with much hype about many new features, rolled out prematurely to reveal bugs large and small, and remains unflyable until a series of patches are implemented.Sound familiar?Behind this are expected issues involving stake-in-the-project multinational outsourcing and making an airplane half out of plastic. Tighter integration might have prevented recent problems in the Japanese wings and the Italian fuselage. I recently read where half of Boeing engineers are now spending their time fixing the other half's problems. Still, Boeing is doing something…

Dear Tom, I finally stumbeled upon the tirade on a subsequently locked forum by Mr. Roach re the CS 767. My question and I have followed these forums since I got back into MSFS when FSX was released, is this: How do you pick and what qualifications do you see as necessary for an administrator? At what point do you draw the line on abuse by an administrator? I realize we are a diverse lot from around the world( thank you internet) and I've been around 70 years with time in the B-52, 707, etc.which qualifies me as an old f..., but am amazed at what I sometimes read as comments that get out of hand on BOTH sides of the equation. Just curious, but I suspect I will not be bann…

Hello,I saw the UT II review on the front page. Since I could not find the information:Is it for FSX only? (Could not find FS9 - I am afraid the answer will be "Yes")Which airlines are included? Is there a list anywhere? Especially I am interested if russian/ukrainian models are included. Thanks in advance!

Hello Tom & TeamI write with reference to your news announcement and related forum topic on the case of you vs the hacker. I have been reading the site on a daily basis but have yet to see any update on this.Perhaps you can update us all on how this is going by answering some questions:1. has the cps decided to persue the case?2. has the hacker been arrested yet (if so can you reveal his name)3. have any charges been brought or advice given on what sort of punishment to expect?I await your reply with baited breath, I had hoped a further news bulletin would of happened but I can see its been well over a month now and nothing further has been said on the subject.

I am rather confused as to why the AVSIM Social in Chicago is announced in a September 28th post on the website, yet when one attempts to register for it, it is listed as closed for additional registrations. This, even as it appears only 22 people out of a maximum allowed of 200 are so far signed up. I would like to attend, so I would appreciate some clarification. dabesq
