Letters to the Editorial Staff of AVSIM

I would like to suggest that the aircraft developer (PMDG, Project Airbus etc) be mentioned - and before the repaint or aircraft type.It is frustrating to follow a link to a potentially desirable repaint only to find that it refers to a developer whos product we do not have. Edit:And why is there no ability to "Edit" the topic title after submission? I have just seen that my title is wrongly spelt but the system does not alow me to correct it.

I have posted a topic on malwarebytes.org reporting to them malwarebytes' active web protection has blocked the AVSIM website in their false positive forums. I am very happy to anounmce that if you have faced this problem with said software the next update it should be fixed. I would like to know when I can expect to get the USD $125 that I paid on May 10, 2011 for the FANCON refunded to my PayPal account?I think it has been well over a week now, although I am guessing as the Cancellation Notification did not bear a date and I only noticed the cancellation as someone had started a new post. I have only been selecting "Niew New Content" for the last several months and do not read individual forum sections any longer so any forum notification is useless to me.I think it was poor business practice that AVSIM failed to notify those of us who supported and registered for the FANCON

are not working in this new format. Please can you remedy?

Might I respectfully suggest that the order of the forums be altered just a bit? When folks scroll down the page, they encounter the "Library" forum listing first......and then proceed to post their questions in the first "FSX" forum (or other of interest) they see instead of scrolling down the page a bit further to find the "real" FSX forum...Just changing the order of the display listing to put the "real" user discussion forums first would go a long way towards eliminating the confusion. :Applause:

Hi -IMHO it would be really helpful if one of the "staff" could put together a list of previous years award winners in the various categories and make it available - perhaps as a download.Many of us cannot attend the Fancon function and have no idea who has been honored in the past.Having this info available might help as we ponder who to nominate and who to vote for when the time for voting comes.Just a thought.

I've again been getting the message:An error occured with the SQL server:This is not a problem with IP.Board but rather with your SQL server. Please contact your host and copy the message shown above. I only get it when trying to access AVSIM. Sometimes even when I've been logged on a while and am swithing between treadas or posts.I cannot beliove that it's my SQL Server - whoever that might be - because I have no problems with any other asites and have not made any system changes.What causes this?

Like last time, I see that someone isn't reading what I wrote. It is really really really annoying to start getting into the same debate again with you this way (jbinner). I already mentioned the RSS Buttons all over AVSIM. You don't need to point me in that direction, again. The Feed43, as explained in my previous post, even WITH directions to what I am seeing, you don't seem to understand.But fine, if that's the response I am getting, then I will remove the AVSim feed from the page I mentioned and am sad to say that this isn't improving my overall satisfaction. I am running a Virtual Airline List (not a Virtual Airline) and was wondering where certain Feeds are located. I know that there is / are:- an RSS News Feed on the frontpage which leads to: http://feed43.com/2535707542632206.xml,- several links to Feeds right here on the forum (the Vatsim and IVAO feeds don't work though).However, the feed43.com is absolutely not working for me or on my hosted page (va-list.com > VA News > RSS Feeds) and although it is seemingly a valid feed, it generates some errors (validation link). Hi Tom, I was wondering if Avsim would consider revising the statement at the top of the screen regarding the death of Bin Laden. This is the part I have trouble with, "Remember, ours is a global community. Our members come from nearly every country in the world." Correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems to suggest that we might have members who are upset that the terrorist leader was killed. Ever since AVSIM revised this site, then went back to the old style a few days ago, I get a strange warning message each time I load a page from the Forum. It happens on the load of each page. Here is the message:"This page is accessing information that is not under its control. This poses a security risk. Do you want to continue?" The choice is YES, or NO. I click on NO and everything works just fine. Are any of you also getting this warning? I never got it on any site before, and AVSIM is the only site showing this warning. I am running Windows 7 64B. Should I click on YES insted of NO? Maybe then it will go away, but is it safe?Thanks.

I recently registered on this forum and have been classified as a "newbie". My question is what must be done to become a full-fledged member? Is there some procedure or ritual I must undergo? If so, how do I go about initiating this procedure? As a "newbie" are there restricted privileges or knowledge that I am not allowed to have until I achieve "Member" status. Each day (sometimes more than once) I click on "view new content" in the AvSim Forums to see what's new.This is not important at all, but I have been curious: As I near the final pages for the day, I see several threads that are repeated that have already bee included on previous pages. It may be the same, but I really have not noticed this when looking only at specific forums. So glad old site is back up. Why undo the old one which has been great now for years. It was clean, simple, fast and easy to use. The new site you unveiled recently was clumpy looking, looked like a color blind chart I see at the FAA exams, and was not easy to use. Please, don't try to revamp it again! Keep the old file library and everything else. You only have one site competition, I used to work there, but use Avsim for almost all my flightsim needs ever since parting ways, 10 years ago.
