As per the thread title, and as mentioned on the main Avsim page, I tried to do this, but it doesn't appear to work. Al

Excuse me if this is not the correct site for my question, however I have checked and found no good links. My problem. The Avsim Store does not appear to have a contact page of any sorts. I recently had a HD crash and wanted to get a fresh link for a purchase. I have all the data related to the buy, but no where to ask for a new download. Thanks, Neil

This afternoon I wasn't able to reach the forum for a while. By accident I found out that the links have changed so all my bookmarks didn't work anymore...!!! The old link was (for example): http://forum.avsim.net/forum/120-hangar-chat/ The new one is: http://forum.avsim.net/index.php?showforum=120 So 1. update your bookmarks and 2. maybe Avsim could warn us about the change the next time (put a note about it on the main site)? I spend 15 minutes wondering why the forum was offline, while it wasn't... BTW Yes, I know that when you can read this you probably figured out that the links have changed...

Is there anyway to make the front page compatible with mobile devices? When viewing from either my iPad or my android device the front page just seems jumbled. No clear way to navigate to the forums and the articles are squished for the screen real estate. Thanks. DJuan Carter

The new front page fails to offer what a front page has traditionally done. That is, a quick exposition of important information. You had this with the prior page. I could quickly see anything of interest and it was in Black and White! Now there is stuff that is poorly organized and forces me to scroll around to see "what is what". Also, the visually vague color scheme is bad. Imagine a newspaper printing in that childish attempt at visual art. I have absolutely no idea why people like you feel compelled to change for the sake of change. This one is very bad.

Hey Team Avsim, Congratulations on the new sleek look of Avsim. I know how difficult it is to bring everything together. The front page is growing on me and despite getting used to the two column presentation of articles. I have a request, for many years I really enjoyed the articles written by 'Bear'. Bear's Racing, Bears Cave, listing awesome freeware and payware he enjoyed, along with other interesting articles. Not sure if it still is published, but I would love to be able to access the articles again. I can search Google and get the pages, but it is completely unorganized and I doubt I can see them all. Would it be possible to have these available wi…

I thought that after the last fiasco that Avsim had learned a lesson. Clearly not but hey - I'll figure a way around it. I'm guessing we all want different things from Avsim and it just so happens that mine don't work easily with the new format. I shall persist but I'm afraid I'm one of the nay sayers.

Just thought you ought to know that there appears to be a typo on the UK2000 banner add on Avsim, where it says 'Sunning Airport Scenery', which I assume was meant to state that it was 'Stunning Airport Scenery' Al

Why was the old style banner at the top of the page taken away? When searching the library when you get to the bottom of the page you used to be able to jump right back to the search files bit by clicking the 'file library' link at the top, but now you have to scroll back up to the top of the page to click on "return to library"

I am not sure If I will upset anyone here by duplicating my post, but I want my view heard by the staff. This is what I wrote in Flight forum in response to the severe scolding I got. I would appreciate a counter view or a response from Tom or anyone else in the staff. The following is what I got in response to exchange of views in the threat: "[Alert]A forum member that includes ANY reference to the P3D EULA, especially dissection or interpretation, will be suspended or banned depending on prior incidents. AVSIM is NOT a court room or a legal office. This is not appropriate discussion here. Consider yourself warned![/alert] The following is my respon…

https://dl.dropbox.c...vsim_banner.png Paste this code in the URL bar and hit Enter to try it: javascript:document.getElementById("logo").innerHTML="<img src='https://dl.dropbox.com/u/18934189/avsim_banner.png' />";void(0) IE 9 and Chrome with automatically remove the 'javascript:' bit from the start, so you'll have to type that back in.

Last week I got a mail from 'Invision Power Board' and I thought 'Huh...???' Then I saw it was a mail about a PM on this forum. And then I noticed the name of this forum isn't The Avsim Forums anymore (or whatever it was) but Invision Power Board...! Is this a temporary name (of the software used) and will 'Avsim Forum' be restored sometime soon or is this the new official name...? Or did someone simply forget to change the name back after some software update...? Just curious.

Using Firefox, when looking at page history under dropdown on browser instead of saying "Avsim.com blah blah..." it says "Your Page Title". Guessing a page title needs to be entered....

I used to get emails from "The Avsim Forums" Now I get them from "Invision Power Board" Who or what the heck is that? and Why cannot the addressee still be Avsim? If this is some advertising gimmick I'm not best pleased. vololiberista

I like the Avsim strapline "Where Flight Simulation Enthusiasts Gather from around the World", but why take up valuable page real estate with the flags image? We don't all have large hi-res monitors. And why those flags in particular? "from around the Pacific" would be more appropriate for the ones chosen. No European flag, no African flag, no South American flag. Better just have the strapline without the image.

Avsim Staff, If I could make a humble suggestion/request regarding the new front page, I would like to humbly suggest a couple of different ideas regarding the new files of the day display. Before the change, it was very easy to see and navigate to, a file of my choice on the list without having to leave the front page. Now, I am required to follow a link to a separate page in order to display the entire list and be presented with a link to each file. Suggestion/Request Give the files of the day it's own box in the left side column of the front page similar to the Recent Articles box, perhaps directly above or below the Recent Articles box that lists e…

Hi, I like the new look of the main page, there is just one item I find to be a problem at the moment. The new files uploaded to AVSIM, its being displayed as one long run on sentence, is it possible to give each upload a line as it was in the past?. This will make it much easier to read. The way it's displayed now: Flight Simulator X - Original Aircraft FSX Japan Airlines Boeing 787-8 V4 by Camil Valiquette Caudron C450 & C460 by Gilles Faulmeyer Flight Simulator X - Aircraft Repaints, Textures and Modifications Air France Cargo NC Boeing 747-400F This is a much nicer easier to read look: Flight Simulator X - Original Aircraft FSX Japan Airli…

Hi all,I really like the "spinning" avatar and banners effect today (April 1, 2012). However, a gentle reminder is in order. Those of us with epilepsy or movement disorders can have seizures/tremors triggered by that kind of effect. I think they are rotating fast enough that it won't be a problem for most people, but I sure felt the beginnings of tremors (the "aura") start up the first time one started spinning. I figured out what was making the banners spin, so I can just look away, and there's no problem for me.I really like the effect, but you may want to warn people or really slow it down (yes, it loses the propeller feeling).Best wishes, dan "lensman" davison

So, since the recent forum upgrade, there now appears next to my Avatar in every post I make, a line saying:"2 warning points".That's interesting, I did not know I had 'form' :)On clicking on both of these warning entries I'm told one was from Tom Allensworth and one from Chase. In the 'Reason' field I am told the reason for both of these warnings is :- "Unknown".Can I suggest that if you are going to let your forum members know they have been 'warned' by the authorities of this great forum, that you also give even just a brief reason why, rather than unknown?I mean, it's not hugely useful to anyone being told they've been 'warned' but not being told why....Thankfully…
