The moderation of the FSX Forum is becoming quite disturbing. A thread was locked two weeks ago for no good reason only to be opened back up by Tom. Yesterday the moderator locked a thread because he didn't agree that it is possible to assess a product in 20 minutes and wrongly accused the poster of not reading the manual when the information was not in the manual. The fact is you can decide whether to buy a car based on a 20 minute test drive or decide whether to buy a house based on a 20 minute walk through. You spend thousands of dollars on a TV or computer based on spending 20 minutes with it in a store. But it is not possible for a person to assess software…

Just a quiet enquiry as to why the release of possibly one of the most sought after airport remakes in the history of FS9/X has gone an entire week without comment on the avsim front page... while I understand that it is the decision of avsim staff what gets posted and what doesn't, surely something as big as this deserves at least a mention? A

Could someone with the forum let me know if a certain person who has given alot to Avsim and who I believe is suppose to be handling the Computer Pilot Mag after PC Pilot gave it up. Let me know if this topic is not allowed on this forum or if it is, where? Thank you, Maverick

My local FS group meets once a month for nine month each year. We have a web presence hosted by another site and approximately 60 members. Based at Ipplepen, Devonshire, UK we would like to publicise our presence within the AVSIM Community and with that in mind, ask for your approval to introduce groups into the forum area. There would be no advertising involved although a few companies provide us with their hardwares/softwares and take an active interest in us collectively and individually. Do you know if there will be any FlightSim Conventions coming up in the future in the US. I would like to attend a conference where the latest products are on display. Hardware, add onplanes etc. I need an excuse for a road trip.

And by "nuked" I mean that a figurative nuclear weapon has been used where a smaller, conventional bomb could have done the trick. The moderation has suddenly become so rigid that I now fear even the slightest deviation from the topic of a thread-- as is what happens sometimes during a the free flow of communication-- is going to cause the topic to be locked. Previously, the moderation has been fine. I would like to suggest that the demise of FSX and Flight is primarily the fault of us, the consumer and that the solution rest with us as well. Consider the situation with FSX. There appears to be tens of thousands of third party add-ons and products on sale to the flight sim community none of which would be possible if it were not for the base program, Microsoft FSX. Thought you would like to know that "That" simulator is being advertised on Facebook in the UK again - this time with "avsim.com" as the click-on address. I hardly need to say that clicking on it does NOT bring you here to Avsim, but rather drops you at the Profilght web-site. Still can't find how to complain to FB about this, so I'll go back & have another look. Bernie

Hi, I just noticed that my signature, which included my PC specs and all of the aircraft I own, has vanished. I never deleted it. I spent quite some time getting that signature to look professional and updating it every time I got a new plane. What happened?

Not sure if I'm in the correct forum, if not I do apologize. Noticed just recently that when perusing the FS2 forums from my mobile I am unable to open any forum topics, or posts for that matter, without receiving an increasingly annoying pop-up inviting me to install the avsim mobile app from Google play. I don't want this app, don't need this app and on top of that, it's not free. Yet no matter how many times I click cancel it pops up again when I attempt to read another post or topic. Can someone tell me how to stop this harassing pop-up? And again, if this is the wrong forum to post this, please accept my apologies.

Hiya.. Just a suggestion. I'm an avid user of forum search engines to find answers I'm looking for or threads about topics I'm interested in reading.. The current format makes it (unless I am missing something) painful to search a specific forum. Most forum setups have a dialog right at the top of the topics list "Search this forum", which I think Avsim had at one time or another but seems to have fallen by the way side with all the recent improvements and upgrades. The current method of going to the top right (next to the google search dialog) and clicking advanced search is a bit of work. What is the reason why this release isn't front page headline news here on Avsim? It did not even get mentioned in the daily news columns. If it were from FSD, or Aerosoft, or Blueprint as payware it would receive that attention. Instead here is an absolutely top-tier FSX scenery add on that is donation supported, but rivals anything else out there and getting no attention as news from the staff here. At 3 pages in length in only a day-and-a-half the FSX Forum discussion topic on this release is perhaps the hottest thread on Avsim right now. Just another indicator of it's significance! Mod N4gix told me he deleted it because i'd posted it in the wrong forum. Why didn't he simply move it to the correct forum? Basically it was several screenshots showing how to find flocks of birds in FSX and took me a while to set up, so it's a pity it was deleted.

Hi, I have tried to get used to the new AVSIM front page, but to be honest I can't. In my opinion it is too crowded (correct word?) with articles, banners, etc etc. I do not mean this disrespectful but to me is it a gray and blue 'alphabet soup'. All the different items have more or less the same lay-out and properties, making it not very tempting/easy to read. As I said I'm not trying to be disrespectful but I just wanted to ventilate my opinion. Egbert

Hello All If you look at my posts you will see that as a signature I have a jolly good shimmering Pharaoh head. I really want this to be my forum photo (as it used to be) BUT! I want shimmer! If I try to add it ,it appears OK but it displays as non-shimmer,it did used shimmer in the past, but now remains stubbornly un shimmerable . My comment/question regarding AVSIM's signature rules is I find the height of 70 pixels rather scant. I'm a member of a VA where we have our own signatures and they are of the 'active' kind where you'll be able to see any current flight activity in the footer of the signature.
