Hi,As I stated previously, I'm not a fan of the redesign of the site, and am sad I will have to go elsewhere for my flightsim news until the design has been revamped and made user friendly again.In the meantime, I'm wondering what the goals were with the redesign of the front page and the library?What was wrong with the old design and what will you gain with the new design?I can understand having to upgrade the site to make it easier to manage using different coding methods, but why change a layout that worked and was inviting and so easy to use?Thanks,Tom Perry

I have some experience with web page designing and this is What I feel needs changed. I'm planning to just quickly sketch (using dreamweaver) what I think the new AVSIM homepage should look like, considering they were going for a more modern look (Which IMO didn't work that well with this update- it looks like it's stuck between Web 2.0 and 2001 web pages.Thoughts? Agree? Disagree? Let's try to help Avsim fix their homepage, we all want this site to become better. Constructive criticism only please.

Well, I hope part of the rationale for reverting back to the old site was to consider revamping the GUI on the new site in some huge ways. This is of course just my opinion I realize. I found the restricted screen real estate combined with ways subjects were displayed were just very unintuitive, cluttered, and confusing in places. The current page is exceedingly easy to parse, focus on what is personally relevant. I typically "View New Content" every day in the AvSim forums unless I am looking for something specific.For what it might be worth, this morning when I select "forums" on the AvSim site, I get the following error message:"Windows Internet ExplorerStop running the script?A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly.If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive.Yes No"I click "Yes" to "stop running the script", and everything seems to be normal then and I can review the new AvSim forum posts.When I click "Mark all items as read" I get the same error message again.Never seen this before, so don't know if it is related to the new AvAim fo…

I don't mind the new format (always willing to try something new), and it looks good on my PC. But I do most of my web stuff on several Apple / Mac products, and have noted that the site is almost devoid of anything on those devices (I see the forum link, etc. but no news or even advertising, and some of the links to reviews etc. don't seem to work). Do I need to do anything with the Apple devices to get this working?Thanks, Bruce.

I hope I can catch the attention of the right person. A freeware Dassault Mirage III has just been released that raises the bar for freeware aircraft by an incredible amount. I notice the news link to the new wilco site. Are you aware that access to customer downloads has been disabled since the new site launched a few weeks ago? That means we cannot get our purchases or serial numbers. Am I the only person with this problem because I dont see anyone else mentioning it except one in the feelthere forum who said he wasnt even able to download new purchases. I have been in touch with them and got the typical Wilco brush off. I also posted in the feelthere forum as they published most of their stuff and the only response I got from there is that the Wilco site is none of their responsibility and I should have kept copies of everything including s…

Fellows,Today I noticed that when I open a topic to read in the forums, I get a small blocked pop up notification at the top of my browser and when I click on it is asks if I want to download the file. This just started this morning since last night I wasn't getting this blocked pop up notification when open topics to read. When I open a subforum like the FSX or Screen shot forum everythign is fine, but as soon as I open a topic to read I get the blocked pop up notification.My firts though was that someone has hacked the forums again and is trying to get people to download a malicious file.Please let me know if anyone else is getting this today so that I know its not my m…

When I was doing a Google search for reviews of Danur's Flight Operations Centre, one of the hits was a review on ***URL Removed***. Is there a forum which deals specifically with Abacus add-ons? Abacus has many add-ons to the FSX and in particular the Flight Deck software. I loaded the Flight Deck 6 and I'm having problems already which their (Abacus) tech support are unable to help. I'm sure I'm not the only one having problems with the add-on software. Perhaps the forum can exchange ideas on how to correct the problem. I also had problems with Flight Deck 5 and with the exception of the tailhook problem, Abacus tech support were unable to help either. I enjoy playing the game of launching and recovering aircraft from a moving aircraft carrier.Thanks

Have you noticed that wwithin each file the dates are 1 day behind. I suspect that your system did not switch over at the beginning of the year. For example today is January 6th yet all of the libray entries are dates January 5th.
