  • Honestly, what is the point of this thread? This has been gone over endlessly in other threads (many of which were also started by the OP), and will probably descend into the usual pro/con stuff.

With the Map Emhancement mod using Latest Bing in HD you can fly low and slow in MSFS too and have very detailed ground textures.

Then there is the incessant need for comparisons.  Ironically, you learn very early in a sales career the less you mention the competition the better.   Focus on your own strengths not the competitions weaknesses.  The fastest way to lose credibility is to start spreading negativity about the competition.

Now, to the OP's defense this is one of the first posts they didn't throw 2020 under the bus in their praise of 2024 which is great but honestly, show us something original.  Show us something YOU saw in the sim.  Show us something YOU experienced but please stop showing other peoples content to try and validate and confirm your own opinion.

You’ve definitely got this wrong.

We are consumers and not the sales teams, other sims are our comparison benchmark, how else will we know which one we like better?

Going quiet about another simulator / competitor is not going to do anything for us, nothing. We are not in charge of any of the brands image or ego driven company image protection. We are simply the consumers and we can compare all we like.

Thing is, though I'm sure the people doing it are simply just over zealous users it does sometimes  feels like there actually is a small sales team in operation here.

Abrams_tank is quite clearly enthusiastic about flight simulation, and he wants to talk about various aspects of his favourite flight simulator. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, there is a lot right with it.

I wouldn't normally bother coming back in to add more to something like this, but I thought I'd try and clarify.

I am 500% in favour of enthusiasm about a product. Totally. Enthusiasm is a positive thing and that is always welcome in any sphere of life. But enthusiasm is based on personal experience, or is more genuine if seen to be so. In terms of something like 2024 (or indeed any other sim), it would be best illustrated by posting, for example, screenshots of a particularly spectacular flight or region, or at least a sentence or two about a particulalry enjoyable flight you've had.

Posting provocative titles, using words like "best", "worst" etc, and then simply linking to yet another youtube video (whose provenance may or may not itself be questionable), just smacks of propaganda rather than enthusiasm.

Like I said originally, I most definitely support the original thought, and I have barely used 2020 since about day 3 of 2024. And I am spending a lot of time in 2024 just flying around from random field to field in all sorts of locations. But this propagandist approach, both "pro" and "anti" any particular sim (as if you had to be on one "side" or the other) just feels juvenile. And although this post was initiated by a specific user, he's not the only person doing this. A regular poster of the opposing point of view on 2024 has just stuck up yet another link to support his own worldview.

I am officially done with this now, and will not respond further.

Like I said it is a forum and forums are open to discussion, that’s exactly what these forums are for, to discuss topics.

Am I annoying (especially certain) people? Maybe ... I'm just the anti-propagandist and the mirror-holder here 😄.

There is no doubt, that GA flying is great in 2024 (as is airliners btw). I have stopped flying in 2020 entirely because of the lackluster experience. I often run long term flight projects, like flying along the Mediterranean coast. I did this in 2020 in many stages over many months. And now, as 2024 is here, I feel strongly compelled to repeat these flights, because the immersion is on a new level and it feels like I have missed the best possible immersion.

What in the wild wild world of sports is going on in here?!

I find it hard to believe there is a FS2024 plane functional enough to actually fly low and slow.

Are you flying in v24...?

'Cause there are quite a few included with the sim or available from 3 PDs that are GA and entirely capable of low n slow.

Now, I'm not a Bush Plane kinda guy, so I don't know much about those add-ons.

if I'm gonna go low and slow, I'll always opt for a helicopter instead of fixed wing, because true hovering is cool, and most of the Turbines are faster than a LOT of Bush Planes.

In the rotary wing class, we have a broad selection of good to very good choices.

And as @The Flight Level said, both "Low" and "Slow" are relative terms. The recently released JF Hawk T1/a can get down in the weeds, and it is quite Hi Fi. And just because it's a jet doesn't mean you have to fly it fast

Same with the MilViz/BBS T-6A.

And there are other Hi Fi mounts like the A2A Comanche

Heck, the Got Friends F4F Wildcat spent a good deal of WW2 operating as a "bush plane".

Picked up the Hawk as my 1st addon and getting pretty good at scootin betwixt the high rise buildings. Really a great little jet.

The only gripe I ever had about v1 was the flight model - it felt very "mechanical".

The newly released v2 fixes that and it is a genuine joy to fly. 😊

Posting provocative titles, using words like "best", "worst" etc,

Good grief, you come across like the censorship police.  Here are 3 other threads, all in the MSFS forum, where the title uses the word "best," and none of the 3 threads were started by me:

Why MSFS is hands down the best FlightSim by 737NG Driver

Quote

Hands down the best MSFS video…

Quote

Best MSFS Flight Ever

According to you, none of these 3 people should have created those threads either, because they used the word, "best" in the title.

BTW, the first example, with the title, "Why MSFS is hands down the best FlightSim by 737NG Driver" is implying MSFS is the best flightsim overall.  This thread isn't even saying that, it's narrowed down to a specific use case of if you fly "low and slow."  And yet you even get triggered by that.

SMH.

No, hé has got it right.

We have had long discussies about conparisons between MSFS, XP and P3D.

Almost all of them turned into bashing and where closed by the mods.

So imho you are wrong about this. Which sim is better is in the eyes of the user…

You have your opinion but it is only your opinion..,
