MSFS 2024 is the best if you like to fly "low and slow"

Imagine everyone here meeting in real life? I would pay to see that. It would be like the jack russell that barks at everyone from the garden, and a soon as the gate is opened, he runs in-side !

It's kind of crazy that we can't discuss stuff like this at Avsim. It's exactly what the Flight Simulation Association panel was discussing in the Youtube video. So when the Flight Simulation Ass

It's a shout out of Satisfaction!

I like doing the same and sharing it with other swimmers who are enjoying the same Sims I use.

It's also useful to get links to YouTube's or forum posts on a given subject.

@abrams_tank does it from time to time, and I like it! 😁

Provided it doesn't go like something I've seen this week for the first time in my life... It'll not be that bad for sure🫤

Slow and low requires more VRAM, and MSFS 2024 VRAM management is a total mess. But lowering airport traffic, air traffic, texture res, and keep trees to medium, plus AutoFPS is a temporary walkaround until SU 2 arrives.

And I'm speaking as possibly one of 2024's biggest supporters for low'n'slow.

Remember, there are also members of AVSim who do not log in on a regular basis. A topic like this may trigger an idea to try something different in the sim. Granted, the majority of simmers here are well aware of 2024 as the best sim to capture immersion in low level flying. I could also amend the title to the best simulator for “low and fast”. Stay tuned!

Contrarian here...

After maybe 20 or so flights in 2024 with the Longitude and 787X, if I had to keep only one sim, it would probably still be 2020.  While I do appreciate the greater texture detail once up in the air a few K feet I almost can't tell which sim I'm in, except always 2020 operates better enough to appreciate that piece.  Maybe I need to dial back setting some not yet sure because it's not a frame rate issue per se.  I have no idea why but panning in the VC is not as good, no matter what the frame rate or GPU/CPU headroom is it's hard to explain it's just jerkier by comparison.  I'm hoping maybe it's the heinous mouse acceleration problem in 2024.  Is that addressed yet in the Betas?

2024 will have me doing more GA flying at some point but for the moment still pretty much glued to flying airliners big and small for score using APL (least favorite but still use it) and SLC which both include scoring routines.  Both of those apps work fairly well already in 2024.

I've met several people from here at the various expo's.  And yes, they're very friendly in person.  Very opposite to their online persona.  They mostly put all these debates down to harmless banter, but there are a couple of people in here who, due to attacks against my family, I will not have time for at any expo, should they go.

On the topic being discussed, passion and enthusiasm are admirable when they're shared from someone in a public forum.  I've said to myself, "Oh boy.  Another MSFS is the best..." thread, but it's obvious abrams is a very passionate guy.  Let him have his fun.

Indeed, but totally irrelevant if you fly airliners (heavy metal) only (like me) ...  😉

That is refreshing to know in today’s world climate!

By bad! I hit submit too quickly. I meant to add - the varied ground grasses/wildflowers and the different types of 3D trees with their movement in the wind was the really significant jump in 2024 for me and this is especially important when occasionally exploring in the third person view after landing in remote areas following a low and slow bush flight.

What in the wild wild world of sports is going on in here?!

I find it hard to believe there is a FS2024 plane functional enough to actually fly low and slow.

very nice.

I agree that the ground detail in MSFS 2024 is considerably better than that in MSFS 2020. Someone stating that does not bother me one bit. There are other reasons why I am sticking with MSFS 2020 for the moment, so I do not worry about it. The question I want to ask is......how high do you need to be before all of that procedural detail vanishes? I consider myself a "low and slow" VFR flyer (even though I do this in the PMDG 737-600 and 777F), but this is anywhere up to 5000 feet. The level of detail that I see in MSFS 2020 up to that level is excellent, and more than enough for my requirements. Nevertheless, I can understand that the level of detail at small airfields and bush strips in MSFS 2024 will be enhanced quite considerably with the procedural stuff.

Since I updated the SWS Kodiak a few days ago, I have been flying it exclusively in 2020, at between cruise altitudes of 3-8 thousand feet. Everything looks fine. Nice break from Tubeliners at FL 300 and above.
