Impressive work by the developers, squeezing the program onto these consoles and having them run so well, not only in 2D, but in VR!

Hi everyone. So here's the deal: I have a 7800X3D CPU, an RTX 4090, and 64GB of memory. I also have a Pimax Crystal Light. I only fly in VR. I am noticing that my GPU usage is going up very high (in the 90's %) but my CPU usage is quite low (40-45%). Should the balance be better than that? Is there something I can do to increase CPU utilization which lowering GPU utilization?

Dear Captains; As can be seen in other few flight simulators (small organisations), already since from few years ; seeing your hands in the cockpit as controllers (not the virtual controllers) and using your hands to press buttons or turn knobs, can be achieved as a feature. And will definetely increases the immersion of VR to a highest level. We would like to see MS/Asobo (such a big organisation) to implement this feature as soon as possible which users are waiting for this for few years. Additionally, we would also like to have a feature to toggle virtual controllers hide/show, to avoid unintentional interaction with cockpit while using our hands now, as hand pass…

In my Pimax Crystal (RTX 5090) I experience a drop in FPS with stutters about 20 or so minutes into a flight, if I go temporarily go back into 2D and then back into VR the FPS recovers. Any thoughts?

Hi everyone, After a long pause with flightsim, I recently got backto MSFS 2020 and upgraded to a RTX5090. Either MS server for 2020 is not many or something happened, since I got constant freeze of a more than 5 sec and upon the return the sim decided to put my aircraft at whatever it feels like. My settings are not ultra, with LOD: 150 and Object details at 80, bloom was off. I have plenty of headroom in the GPU, and CPU for the settings that I have had before the GPU upgrade was good. I disable MS defender scan for all MSFS folders and the executable itself. Mde sure that the firewall is allowed for MSFS and my internet DL/UL speed is fast at 1 GB/s. Therefo…

Hi all, Is there a location based difference when in comes to MSFS VR? I used the preset setting for High End system, DLSS/Quality and when I flew at KJFK, my flight was smooth, same with at London City. However, when I switched to VVTS (Ho Chi Minh City, default scenery) the sim stutters and froze non-stop. Is this due to MS server capacity? I tried to even reduce the Terrain details to 50 at VVTS with no change. Thanks

Google Search AI results to my questions about VR in MSFS ME: does reshade work in vr? Yes, ReShade does work in VR, but support varies depending on the version you use and the VR runtime of your game. Official & Native Support ReShade 5.0+: This was the first version to officially include native VR support for SteamVR games. It creates a separa…

This was something that surprised me and I haven’t read elsewhere. I’m sure it’s been covered but I’ve missed it. It cropped up when I was trying to improve my performance in VR and asked my usual advisor which is ChatGPT. I gave it screenshots of all my settings and I gave it a screenshot of the dev mode performance overlay. It told me that I had terrain LOD way too high. Anyway I’ll skip to the end of the story. It turns out that the terrain LOD at 400 was a 2D setting and because I always start a VR session in 2D and then switch to VR it does not swap over all settings to the VR settings. It continues with a number of 2D settings. So now I am mirroring all my VR setti…

Hi all. I have installed ReShade into MSFS 2024 and it is working very nicely in 2D but not at all in VR. I am using a Crystal Light. Any help getting ReShade to work in VR? Thanks.

If there anyone out there in VR land still using OpenXR, I got an upgrade indication today (Pico 4 user), so I installed the latest Streamer and VR App. When I launched the new Streamer, it indicated that the XRToolkit was deprecated and should be uninstalled as its now an interfering app. Don't Do It! When I relaunched, all my sharpening, antialiasling, upscaling, color correction and fps readout.. gone! Looked like garbage and there was no apparent way elsewhere in the virtual desktop applications to restore these. Now I may have missed the memo, but watch yourselves.

what the f-ps I always thought I needed the highest, best, latest DLSS 4.5 presets to enjoy MSFS2024 to its fullest extent. little did I know that even a lousy RTX 4090 with an equally old fashioned Pimax Crystal can produce 90 fps, it felt incredible so that I was wondering what's going on here, no kidding. I had never ever seen anything better than 50 fps, let alone 90 fps in VR: here the fine print, extracted from above screenshot, again all 3 screenshots were in VR mode: ok, I confess, that was with Preset K instead Preset M with the latest DLSS 4.5 and Performance Mode in MSFS 2024, but even QUALITY mode results in usually around 60…

I agree with IslandSimPilot. For once the updated version of PP made a huge difference. An ever so tiny fuzziness in the distance cleared up. Thing looked sharper. Tracking improved so much that it works when I don't have the lights on. I also used to cover the 2 lower cameras to improve tracking. I don't have to do that anymore, so I removed the tape I had put there. Other previous updates to PP did not do much, not much changes. But this one really helped! (They roll out the update and offer it to some users early, and some users later, over a two week period Feb6 to Feb20. Not everybody has gotten the update notice yet). But anyone can download it her…

NVIDIA Smooth Motion is a driver-based feature that generates interpolated frames to improve visual smoothness, especially in VR, by doubling the base framerate of a game. It's a technology designed to make gameplay appear smoother by filling in gaps between frames, similar to game-integrated DLSS Frame Generation, but it works at a driver level, meaning it generates frames for the entire scene. This driver-level approach can sometimes lead to artifacts or blurriness, especially on UI elements, compared to native frame generation. gave it a try and looks pretty good in vr--glass panel isn't blurry like dlss and can still use taa. artifact seems minimal compar…

Most of the times, after landing, at some moment I found pedals doesnt respond, and so I cannot control taxing, sometimes I regain control after some time. Strangely, while in exterior view they work OK. It happens while using my Meta 3 or my Pimax Crystal Light and with small aircraft and airliners.- Has anybody experienced this issue ?

Just a quick question, does the resolution of the 2D monitor affect the overall load on the GPU to the possible determent of VR. EG if reducing the resolution of the monitor, or even switching off the monitor, would that enable more 'horse power' to the VR set? Just a thought. Al

Just ask Copilot (Microsoft AI) to give you the best setting for your hardware and headset.😉 You have to be specific as to which sim you're using. My headset has never been as fluid as it is now, absolutely amazing.
