Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Anyone else getting this effect east of St. Thomas in the Caribbean? I have SU10 Beta.

While playing with the updated PMDG B737 700 this weekend, I noticed a strange behavior with my RTX 2060 (sw 516.59) and ASUS monitor running 2560x1440. I have not been real satisfied with the visual quality of MSFS. It never looks like the YouTube videos or screen shots. Everything is very "pixelated", especially terrain features like trees and the clouds. Depending on airport and location, I get between 20 and 40 FPS running most ULTRA settings. I was running experiences with VSync, cycling it on and off and changing the refresh rate in MSFS between 30 and 60. I also opened Nvidia Control Panel and cycled from the monitors native refresh rate of 75 Hz to 60 Hz…

Hi. In a nutshell, Aerosoft has been trying to fix the sounds of their Twin Otter for MSFS, for some time now since its release. The problem they are running into is that none of the Twin Otter operators in Europe are willing to allow Aerosoft to do what they need to do, to record the sounds of the Twin Otter, even if Aerosoft is willing to pay for it. Reading this Aerosoft Otter sound thread. I'm not sure if I'm reading and comprehending it correctly. It sounds(no pun intended) like since you are always forced online in FS2020, FS2020 can do file checks and if so flagged by a content creator, they can at any time 'disable' their addon [plane, scenery, sound pack, etc]. Is there any truth to this? Will tweaking and file editing start to become prohibited or limited? I'm not fond of big brother tactics with any software I buy to personally use. Again I'm trying to learn and understand FS2020 and addon limits.

Does anyone know if MS is planning to change the fact that custom hardware profiles created for various aircraft types do not automatically load with that specific aircraft as with FSUIPC. It would be nice to have the hardware profiles "stick" to the various aircrafts rather than having to load them manually and individually each time I load a new aircraft. I don't know how many time I forget to change the the profiles when I load a new aircraft only to find that I need to pause the sim and reload the appropriate profiles for that aircraft.

I have the CH yoke and pedals but am getting the f/ctl L Sidestick Fault- calibrate nullzones but whatever percentage I did in the mfd it still remains. Moreover, is there a way to steer with the yoke instead of rudder the fenix ? I find it more comfortable,

When I use live weather in FS2020, Iceland has snow year cover year round. This is not the case since I've been there 8 times in all seasons. If I turn off live weather it is more realistic but then I have to try to approximate the real weather. How can I make the landscape appear without snow using live weather in the summertime?

I hooked up dual monitors just to see how much difference I could see (1440p vs. 4k). Hi, I'm unable to re-install Fenix A320 on my new system. Fenix don't appear to have any support apart from Discord. I can't log login into Discord because I'm stuck in a loop saying account is already in use. It sends me on a verification loop that says an account with those details already exists. I hate Discord, always have. This does nothing to change my mind. Anyone know how to get Fenix to reset things so I can re-install? Cheers Stu

Hello anybody, I've tried this scenario three times and was able to repeat it. Setup on runway, all avionics are active, as soon as I initiate the takeoff roll the PFD and all avionics go blank. Nada, nothing. My yoke is a Honeycomb, and all the switches are as they should be. Any ideas Tom

Is there any decent 3rd party camera program out yet? Still find the native camera support to be entirely lacking from an ease-of-use perspective.

I installed FS2020 on drive "F:" instead of C Unfortunately, I cannot get Fenix A320 to install - I always get the error message "community packages path of microsoft flight simulator not found". FS2020 is patched to the latest version and the directory "F:\ProgramData\MS.Flight Simulator\Community" exists (and is also correctly shown in the FS DEV Tab). Anyone else having this problem and any idea how to get the installer running? Any help would be greatly appreciated - can't wait to go airborne 😉

I use the sim primarily in HDR mode and it looks absolutely beautiful. However, one thing that bothers me is whenever I take a screenshot and then quit the sim, turn HDR mode off in Windows and then open the screenshot that I just took, it looks overexposed and washed out. I would love to post screenshots here for those to see, but don't know why this happens. The only workaround for me is to not enable HDR mode, both in Windows and the sim. But then I can't capture the image in it's full dynamic range.

For the most part, Live Weather has been fairly accurate for me and has not caused any issues. However, I was just thrown (blown) out of a 2-hour flight during my approach into Abadan. I was on final and all was well - suddenly the aircraft began to be thrown all over the sky and I uncoupled and took over. Then, I noticed I was flying backwards! (The last time I flew backwards was IRL in a 152 with strong headwinds and in Slow Flight). I glanced at the wind indicator - it was indicating a headwind of 150+ Kts! Has anyone gotten the condition lever axis to work using fsuipc and a throttle quadrant in the caravan? I assigned the mixture one lever to "Axis Condition Lever Set" in FSUIPC but nothing is moving in the cockpit. Thanks, LouP

Don't want IGN, Gamespot, etc. I'm looking for a comprehensive current (summer 2022) state of affairs review of FS2020 but can't find anything of 'sim background person' quality. You know, someone that has played FSX and P3D for years. Ideally a brief bullet point list of unique issues or things pathetically lacking or needs definite improvement at this point in time. Additionally, we all know it has sublime looks and atmosphere but a short bullet point list of dramatic or quality of gameplay key things FS2020 has (beside visuals) over the mature (FSX) or competitor sims (DCS, XP11). I tried searching all over for the answer to this question. When loading the PMDG 737 with FSFO for the first time it asks you to add an enablebroadcast flag to a cfg file associated with the aircraft. This message is a simple windows dialogue that states the info is available in a quick reference guide. I've been looking all over my computer and searching the web for the location of the file and the exact string to add with no luck. I'm hoping someone here has already set this up as it seems the dialogue will only appear the first time you launch the plane.
