    Hello! Two things are a little complicated when flying the 747: 1.) Setting minimums by klick and drag. It's often very hard to set them correctly and it takes a significant amount of time. It would be better if you could set minimums just like on the NGX by just using the mouse wheel. Simple and effective. I know that this is on purpose, but it just doesn't make sense: In 500 flights with the NGX I didn't change the DH a single time by accident. 2.) Pushback radius is veeeeeeery large and pushback degrees are limited to 90°. I'm unable to push back from narrow gates as the turn radius is so huge and I'm unable to pu…

    I love to do longhauls in my 747 on the weekends. I usually fly the 777 or 787. I noticed an option in the 747 to handle the fuel tanks when needed. I have this option set to auto. However I keep getting the yellow message and eventually a fuel imbalance. Do I need to set Crossfeed before takeoff and then it will do its own thing or am I missing something. Ive read the manual etc

    Hi there! Sometimes I do have the problem, that ENG OIL TEMP is increasing into the red range, while OIL QTY and OIL PRESS are decreasing. ENG overheats and gets a flame out thereafter. Looks like there is an oil leak at the enginges causing that problems but I dont get a message showing ENG X OIL LEAK? I do have enough fuel on board, service based failures are disabled, auto cruise sometimes enabled, sometimes disabled. Eng oil refill is done and there is enough amount of oil available. I really don't know what I do wrong and searching the Manual doesn't give me any hints. Maybe someone had the same problems as I have and …

  6. I look forward to start with the 748 in a couple of months. At this moment I have the 777 and the 744-v3, besides other PMDG planes. What is wisdom? To start to deepen my knowledge of the 744, or keep on working on the 777, since the diffences between the 744 and the 748 are too large (is this true?), and the energy could better be invested in the 777. I'm aware that this is subjective. But I'm curious.

    Just wondering what the passenger weights are in the new QOTS II? It seems to be 195lbs, but for some reason, my ZFW keeps ending up about 10,000lbs off of what is calculated in PFPX even though I went ahead and created a new profile for her with the correct weights. I set the passenger weight in PFPX to 195lbs as well. It wasn't a big deal as I just adjusted the cargo until it matched up with the ZFW on the fp. Excellent Aircraft! Cheers, Rob

    Hi mates, so recently I hot the PMDG 747 QOTS 2, and this is the first flight I did, but the plane doesn’t move fast!!! At maximum thrust it goes about 70kts!, and I can’t do anything to make it lift off, the weight is well below maximum and within limits, and everything seems normal, this happens with a break temperatur And high Tore pressure warning! But I have never done anything out of normal OP to it, Please Help me, David

    I had to completely reinstall P3D and my PMDG addons, B-737NG, B-777, and B-747, all work well except the B-747, My home base i use is ALbuquerque, NM (KABQI load the B-747 on the ABQ airport, as the program loads at about the time the green tape with the count down gets to 5 it locks up and crashes, or does a complete load of the aircraft and then crashes, it does the same thing at the El Paso Texas (KELP) airport. I loaded it in Las Vegas, NV (KLAS) and it loads and works fine? What could be causing this? Any help is appreciated. Ken Hand

    My below mentioned question has obviously in time been raised and answered but which, going back a long time in the Forum, I seem not able to find. I have also tried to read the manuals but there also I cannot find a, for me, plausible answer. It concerns the actual setting of the trim based on what the FMC calculations. I read somewhere in one of the manuals about Realist Engagement on/off etc. but this also I cannot find. Please assist and point me in the right direction. Kind regards Dirk

    Whats the proper way to do step climbs? I know I can go into the vnav page and put in a different crz alt and the plane will climb. I was wondering why when before a flight I put fl370s next to a way point and when I get to the s/c during the flight the plane doesn't climb and the s/c disappears. Do I have to do something besides put in the new altitude on the mcp? Does the plane not start to climb to the new altitude by itself?

    Currently on board the default PMDG Qantas VH-OJM aircraft getting ready for a transpacific flight to Sydney. I cannot input a fuel value that will result in the ground weight exceeding 391.4 metric tons. Is this because I'll be exceeding the MTOW? According to the FCOM operating limits MTOW is higher than 391.4 tons for a passenger 747-400 although that's for a PW. ZFW is 228.8 so I can't put in anything higher than 162.6 tons of fuel. I haven't checked with other engine variants if the max weight on the perf page for manual fuel input is also 391.4 metric tons. -Angelo Busato

I also have the 747v3 for FSX and have recently upgraded to p3dv4 because of OOM issues, so I bought the 747v3 for P3D as well (you people make your planes entirely too awesome - you're costing me a lot of money 😉 ). I can't set the IRS position in the pos init screen of the FMS. In the FSX version I click GPS POS, which copies the coordinates to the scratch pad, and then I click SET IRS POS, which copies the scratchpad to the IRS POS field. Under the P3Dv4 version, that's not working. It copies GPS POS to the scratchpad fine, but it won't go into the IRS POS field. Is this some sort of intended interface change for the P3D version, or is something wrong?…

  19. I've observed this odd behavior several times now. I'll get the pushback, everything goes fine, but then after release and engine start the tractor starts slaloming back and forth in reverse while moving slowly toward the opposite of the tail direction (so if I push back to the left, the tractor will start weaving diagonally away from the plane to cockpit right, and vice versa). It usually ends up hanging out on an adjacent taxiway, often the one I need to take. It keeps weaving back and forth across the taxiway, and several times now it's run into me as I'm trying to avoid it - it almost seems to target me because I'll watch it weaving around for awhile, and then aim for…

    Hi, I am trying to use the WEATHER RADAR TEST SWITCH, but only get the following display on the ND: "WXR TEST" in orange and TEST -2A in blue, but no colored sweep lines. The duration of the ND display (wxr test and test -2A) is very short (approx 3-4 sec). I believe that the sweep takes longer than the duration of the weather radar test. Sometimes a 45 degree colored sweep can be seen. Anyone know if there is a adjustment for the weather radar test duration? Thanks for assistance

  21. Every time I set up tp fly the 747-400 I have to reset from engines running and max fuel. Any way to save a setup, I have tried and had no success. When I create a filename it says successfully saved but never able to locate the saved panel state file. Even saving the flight does not work. Any ideas please. Thanks

  22. Hello All, I have tried looking up the forums for anyone who has a similar issue with the spoilers not deploying upon touchdown. I always arm the speed brakes and that shows on the upper EICAS, however, they do not seem to deploy automatically as the wheels touch the ground, no matter how firm or smooth the landing is. I only hear the deployment sound of the spoilers lever when the reverse thrust is activated. I'd like to know if this is a known issue before logging a support ticket. Thanks,

    Hello all, before I submit a ticket I would like to place my problem here in the forum, maybe someone can help me. 🙂 After some month of abstinence I went back into the cockpit of my 747, but I spot some strange issues. 1.) No matter if I start my flight from Cold and Dark, Short Ground Turn or Long Ground Turn - after I start the first engine I will hear the noise of a MASTER CAUTION warning and the yellow light will turn on. I usually fly bizjets and am used to programming stuff in g1000's, etc. The FMS in the 747 is a whole 'nother beast that I want to master, but there are a couple of things that are escaping me despite having read the manual. I figure some of you will know which way to point me: First, the SID/STARs in the FMS disagree with flight plans. I generate a flight plan (usually via Simbrief) and, for instance, it'll route me through ORCKA out of KLAX Rwy 25R. But when I go into the FMS, it shows me all sorts of position fixes, and none of them match any of the fixes on the plan generated by Simbrief.
