    Hi folks, I appreciate that, even at relatively light weights, the aircraft will accelerate beyond 250kts to ~260kt mark below 10,000ft, unless manually limited in the VNAV CLB page, and that this is likely so that there is a buffer from the minimum flaps UP manoeuvring speed. i just wanted to know whether ATC around the world appreciate that this is likely to be the case and 747s routinely just accelerate a tad beyond the 250kt limit without permission/warning, or whether you have to wait with flap 1 extended until ATC says 'no speed restriction' or similar (in reality I know that flying out of London and UK airports this tends to happen pretty quickly after departu…

    I have done a few multileg flights, but the ACARS don`t reset when I select a new route and so on.. Why is that? Is it something I am doing wrong, or is it an easy fix to reset the ACARS?

    I made a flight and landed and shut down all power. Battery off, standby power off, ground cart disconnected. But I still had my overwing slide lights on. In real life they’re powered by battery packs but I couldn’t find a way to shut them off, there’s no switch. Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong? And yes, I know, I need to read the manual. I’m going to do that tonight as I have a lot of questions. Especially why I can’t make an autoland or even engage B & C A/P’s and what the messages are on the PFD that say, SPP - FAC - G/P and I was landing ILS 10 at KATL. Anyway, this is a cool study level plane and I have a lot of reading to do.

    Since purchasing the PMDG 747-8 the other night, I have successfully completed a couple of flights (I do not have a lot of time to play). I just completed a flight from FlightBeam's KDEN to FSDT's KLAX with ASP4 and UTLive enabled. I also enabled Megascenery Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and UltraHD LA. For the first time, I decided to also use ProATC-X. Normally these add-ons used a lot of system resources and I was preparing for the worse. I remember in FSX, these add-ons would almost bring my system to its knees. But not today! Here's a report from the FSUIPC.log regarding FPS for the flight.     Good morning/afternone/evening/night everyone, do we have any real 747 pilots in here to shed light into the question when to start a step climb in the 747-400/-8? In my airline it is SOP to step up only once the OPT FL is equal to the step level to avoid getting too close to coffin corner. Looking at most altitudes flown by actual 747's on FlightRadar it seems that most airlines actually do the same (judging from the altitudes flown vs what PMDG gives me as OPT using the maximum realistic ZFW for such flights, aka full pax load plus a few tons cargo). But then again in the PMDG 747 the coffin corner does by far not get as close as it does on my real aircraft …

    I'm using P3D 4.3 with the -8. I'm on RWY 33L of FlyTamps'a KBOS trying to depart for KATL. I have everything set up and when I click the TOGA click spot the throttles advance and the engines run up, yes, parking brake is off but the plane is only moving a few inches per hour. This is the first serious flight I've tried making, the very first one was a quick test the day I bought it and didn't use TOGA, I just took off from a random airport manually and flew around and it was fine. It's like there's glue all over the runway. It creeps ever so slowly and when I apply the parking brake it stops of course. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Greetings, with the new -8. I've tried 2 Autolands, both with LAND 3 active. Right before the threshold, the plane veers off course. Both times this happened with no wind. The annunciator has FAC displayed, then when the veering occurs a line goes through the FAC letters on the PFD. AM I missing a setting or is this normal?

  12. This is probably a Kyle question... Seeing the new (greyed out) options in the 747-8 ACARS menu has certainly whetted my appetite for the upcoming GFO and what it will bring. However, I was wondering how custom aircraft settings will work when we start sharing aircraft between users with GFO. For instance: I am running the Atlas Air 744F N475MC using the livery and airline-specific options downloaded through the OC. I keep all the aircraft specific settings as provided with two exceptions: I add an RMI to the main panel, and change the flight director to from cross hairs to V-Bar.     Getting 2 interesting messages on my EICAS on the 744 BCF. One saying HYD_RSVR_PRESS 2 in white, and the other saying FUEL LO STAB R in yellow. I find these weird as the hydraulics have no indication of anything being low in the quantity or pressure. And the fuel lo stab message is interesting as I dont have a stab tank.     Hi, i purchased th B748 yesterday and put it on trial on a flight out of KPAE to KMWH, just like the real ones do. The aircraft performs great but i noticed a little hickup. I tried to enter a hold in a 90 degree angle and that seemed to screw up the fmc/lnav. Approaching the hold the hold suddenly got bigger on the ND. The plane slowed down correctly but then overflew the holding fix and continued its path without manoevering (for the teardrop entry). I let it fly for about 20nm straight out before i manually turned it back to the entry. Are holdings still a work in progress? If I recall correctly the older PMDG planes could do that pretty well.     After the flight is over, aircraft is parked, the engines are shaking as if there's turbulence. I don't use any camera add ons. EDIT: The shaking is on and off. I use P3D 4.3

    Hi! Is it possible to get metar reports using the FMC? I do that a lot in the maddog, FSL A320/A319 and the Q400. very useful before landing. In the 747-8 i see theres a "WX" section but its grayed out and i dont know why

    I am flying a long haul heading westbound. Initial cruise altitude is FL320. My question is shouldn’t my next altitude be an even number i.e FL340? I was always under the assumption of your flying west you would have an even FL and flying east you would have an odd FL. My fmc is calculating my step climb altitude of FL350. Thanks - Sigmund Horn

    Hello, after the last update, i've found that the cold and dark panel state for some versions of the 744 is not correctly configured. Both clocks are on run, IRS and AIR DATA knobs are on C position INBD CRT is on PFD (but dispalys as NORM) Here is a screenshot

    Hi, 4 good flights Sunday and Monday. Since today aircrafts stops responding sometimes right after takeoff, sometimes during the flight. FMC freezes, autopilot is not maintaining the plane. Unregistered and uninstalled both 744 and 748, installed again with fresh downloaded packages, registered serials succesfully and again the same problem. Please advise. Krzysztof

    Hi all, yesterday i was surprised, that the 748 can do a full VNAV APP with FAC and (i am not sure, sorry) GS?. The 737´s are doing that and i am glad that the 747 is doing it now too. But i saw something new: the distance to the RWY is the direct distance from the present position. On the 737 it is the distance to fly on that APP. Is it diffrent between 747 and 737?
