Hi all, I am a new member and have been flight simming about 5 years. I originally have used XP from about version 10 through to the current version 11. I recently tried P3D again, version 4.4 and love what the P3D has to offer as far as simulation and study level software, planes, plug-ins, etc. Unfortunately, I have only flown 2 times successfully with P3D 4.4 and I am dealing with the "black screen" issues. Well, I've tried everything and sooner or later, I'll be back up and running and looking forward to having some forum chats about products, etc. Cheers as they say, tgmjr777, Thomas.

Hi all! I'm Dennis, almost 40, and a new member here. I began flightsimming since about 2005 with FS9. 🧓 Then (with some interval) I moved to FSX. And now, after quite a long interval (life's going, you know), I'm back flying with P3D4. Thank you for your attention

Back to flight simming after a 7 year break so lost most knowledge of how it all works. Seems FSX is not the standard anymore but also seems like newer Sims are not compatible with GoFlight Modules. I have about 10 GoFlight including MCP and IFIS and previously flew ifly 737NG. I really want to keep GoFlight stuff as it is expensive to replace. Can anyone suggest where I should start again as a semi newbie ? what best sim, what aircraft (I like jets, commercial or regional) and what will work with GoFlight ? All advice really appreciated Thanks - Richard

  9. I gave up on FSX a long time ago because I sadly couldn't get it to run anymore and started using P3D, but maybe I'm late to the ball game but I recently installed FSX-SE and DX10 Fixer and I'm amazed. It runs flawlessly. I've been flying now pretty heavily for the last couple weeks reliving the old FSX missions and I haven't had any crashes, no flickering, it's smooth as glass. I've pulled all my old guide books out of storage. It's beautiful. I think if they haven't more people need to try it again. P3D always seemed to me like it was FSX with all the fun extracted which is what I think ESP was, now I'm definitely back to FSX. These are my specs: Win 10 …

New X-Plane 11 user and I am trying to get the most out of the simulator as possible. My goal is to get my private pilot certificate and I want to learn all I can before starting actual flight school. I am currently reading all the ASA ground school material and I was told by a flight instructor that a flight simulator can be a valuable tool to use in addition to a ground school syllabus. My intent is to have as much knowledge as possible when I start flight school classes and keep my training hours not to a minimum but lower than the average 65-70 hours of flight hours. At about $135 and hour + fuel it can get pricey quick. I will read and search the forums before p…

  11. Started by Fox21,

Hello: I used to be quite good with Flight Simulator prior to 2006 and then X came out. Then real life happened, and I have been away from it since. I found my 2006 version of FSX while I was sorting out old software, but did not try to use it. I tried all afternoon to purchase a newer version without luck. I would be using a HP Curved screen, all in one, "envy", with an i5 chip and I think about 16 mb of memory. I tried to purchase something through MS and felt it was a futile effort. It seems clear that I need new software. I do have a very nice "extreme 30 Pro" Logitec stick If someone could give me some advice on getting started, please? …

Since I uninstalled GLOBAL TRAFFIC from my PC, when I start the P3DV4 simulator, it shows me a warning message, whose attached image for clarity of the problem. I can summarize by saying that I don't find or don't have the 131s area mentioned in the emergency warning, and the No 8 Traffic Global Airport Facilities scenario is not deleted from the scenario library. Whatever you do, both the warning and the scenario appear again. Now I use UTLive https://imgur.com/gAHmYc7 https://imgur.com/wpDocGi Could someone tell me how to fix the annoying problem of this ad and clean up the scenario library of my P3D4 ? Thank you very much Greetings

  14. As a newcomer I thought it best to introduce myself. My Name is Bill, I live in the North West of England, I am a pensioner but have been a passionate flier since I was fifteen, having done my first air experience flight as an Air Training Corps cadet in a Glider at RAF Sealand, near Chester after which I was totally hooked on getting off the ground. I went on to get my PPL and became a gliding Instructor and eventually entered the RAF to become a Pilot. Since then the years have passed very quickly, bringing me to my present status, where I tend to get my kicks over flying on my PC. I can remember purchasing Solo Flight (one of the first wire frame Flight Sims relea…

  15. Started by Ironflyer,

Good evening everyone. After having a couple of years out of flight simulation, I've recently decided that I miss it too much to carry on not participating. I've watched several livestreams and videos online of where the sims are now in early 2019 and they look absolutely brilliant! (Though i'm aware, using a lot of payware) That being said, I have browsed AVSIM for the last week or so and there certainly is a lot of information to take in. Especially surrounding the whole situation over FSX / P3D / XP and which is best. More of an endless tug of war it seems! I look forward to meeting new people and getting straight back into it. Although, I think i'm going to …

  16. Hi guys, a few questions today for the experts; #1) In general, when slowing down a commercial jet like a 737-500 or similar, if the nose wants to point up too far or unrealistically, would this mean that you need more flaps? I find that sometimes when on approach (localizer and G/S captured and lined up nicely) the plane wants to go nose up in unrealistic fashion. At other times I have no problem. Admittedly I am jumping around flying different freeware 737's, 757's and regional jets (CRJ's/Embraer's). #2) Example of typical approach I am making, please add your two cents to what you would do differently; Going KONT to KLAS, I …

Hello, after a 12 year gap, I've picked up FSX again, my interest is mainly VFR flight in small aeroplanes, are there still any UK based communities who have regular vfr group flights? Google only brings up the CIX group and I am not getting a responde from them. all the best, Russ

Hi all, I'm getting started again after a long absence. I am a pilot wanabe but at 78 years old it's not likely. So I will take the next best thing. I fly G.A aircraft out of mostly small to medium airports. Right now my favorite plane is the Alabeo M20R ovation. I am using MegasceneryEarth, and have New Mexico, Ariz. and north and south Calif.. My home base is Las cruces NM and I have flown over parts of NM in small planes, as a passenger. I also used to live in Yuma, Ariz. and flew out of there, going to Phoenix and San Diego. I am impressed at how realistic the scenery is. Now all I have to do is learn to fly, use the radio and use the GNS 530. I have a l…

  19. Hello, I'm combining two questions in one. I have not yet been able to upgrade to a better performance PC so I'm still dealing with something of a dinosaur, an old AMD A6 quad-core 2.2ghz with integrated HD6530D GPU and 8 gig RAM total. Q1: I have experimented with FRAPS, but it only records what you see when it is recording, and I want to record external shots. FSRecorder will allow for various views while recording but doesn't record sound. Bandicam records sound, but FSX crashes if i try to use the game mode, but if I use the screen capture mode, I'm only capturing the screen visuals, not the flight data so I can't use it to render clean movies with a dec…

  20. Hi guys, wondering the proper procedure for climbing out/taking off in a commercial jetliner (regarding autopilot), as I must be doing something wrong; I have noticed that on some aircraft, when I take off, as I get a positive climb I put up the gear and turn on the autopilot. I already have the speed preset to 250 and the chosen altitude set, along with the rate of climb. However, the plane will dive down, instead of continuing to climb once the autopilot is engaged. Some planes fly fine under these procedures, others want to drop down and then the autopilot "recovers them" (if I was already high enough up in the sky to allow it) and they start…

  21. Hi All, I am excited to get back to flight sim. I haven't played since FS2004. I had loads of add-ons and long nights of computer maintenance. I think I learned more about computers than flying, but loved participating in virtual airlines. I like to run a few scenery add-ons and fly PMDG 737. Am thinking about going with 777 once I am back up and running. I am getting back into it now, because my son wants a gaming PC. I figured if I am building a PC I might as well build one for flight sim (little does he know he will never get to use it...). I am thinking of making switch to Prepar3d over FSX. Any thoughts? As for build, I've heard quad core at 4.…

I'm trying to set up Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 (fs9) with Windows 10 (HP computer if it matters) and having issues. It didn't give me any problem to install, but it won't run. At one point it told me something about permissions, and I've tried right clicking and running as admin but still won't open at all. Any more suggestions to try? I'm totally new to this and fairly tech illiterate, so please dumb it down for me as much as possible. It's for my 12yo son who is eager to get started. 🙂

  23. Started by ATACEO,

Hello All, Well after several several years of being away from FS I thought I would jump back into it. Back in 2002, I as well as another friend started a VA based off of a Retired Airline with MSFS 2002 and moved on from there. Not long after the VA took off I had to take time away due to family issues, which I turned over to my Fleet Director (original partner). To this day that VA is still currently running strong but under different ownership which I am still listed on the Roster list. I tried a few years ago to start up another VA, but that didn't pan out as 1) I moved and didn't have internet service and then my home build took a dump on me. So here…

Hey folks, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm an avid combat flight simmer, and also a professional pilot. Since my sim of choice, DCS, is now allowing civilian modules in the game, I figured I'd pop over here and check this community out as well. Happy to be here! -Sport

Figured I should formally introduce myself, after asking for help a number of time. My name is Anthony, and I work for an aviation company (you may be able to figure out which one...), located at CYXX. I am currently involved in getting 3 FTDs up and running for training purposes, after the last guy, uh, didn't work out. I have a bachelor of computer information systems, and 10 years of IT experience, but 0 in sims. I remember playing MSFS on a 486, along with enjoying a number of other assorted flight games over the years. I am currently working with / learning about P3D version 3 and 4, and am considering building a home PC to learn a little about X-Plane, …
