Hello. I am a retired truck driver with time on my hands. I've had flight sims since.....actually idk when. I had one or two before FSX, then FSX then XPlane 11. I built this pc almost 2 years ago and wonder of wonders it is almost up to MS' ideal hardware specs! 64 bit, i7-8700k, 500GB SSD. Where it falls short is the GTX1060 6GB. And even that ain't too shabby. I deleted XPlane off my SSD and have installed FS2020 Standard Edition. Download in one hour! Wow! But then the inevitable problem- my Saitek Cyborg 3D doesn't map in? is that the correct phrase? In trying to adapt it the movement of the indicator on the angled line is wrong. Ailerons and rudder inputs (it has th…

I was a member of this forum many years ago when I used to play a lot of FSX. Or at least I think I was, my memory has faded! Anyway, whatever e-mail I used is long defunct so I'm starting all over now that MSFS 2020 is out. I'm an old gamer and train sim guy from way back, my first PC was a 386, but I'd kind of drifted away from it all until a few years ago in 2016 when I decided to get involved with Star Citizen. That led to me building a fairly decent gaming rig and I was delighted when I heard of the return of MSFS. Setup is now a Ryzen 7 2700 with an M2 NVMe, 32 GB of RAM and a 5700XT GPU. Also using a Thrustmaster T-16000 HOTAS but no pedals (yet). Ready to have so…

  7. Hi All, I’m new to the simming world and my first flight sim game is MSFS 2020 and i’m really enjoying it so far in terms of knowing nothing about planes to really enjoying the experience and wanting to learn more and perhaps be involved in the more serious elements of flight simming in the future. I’m looking for someone else to group up with and to really learn from over a long period of time and hopefully progress to some physical simming equipment and more serious simming experiences once i’m up to that level. I’m 25 and based in the UK so preferably adults in the EU would be great!

Hello to all Avsimmers, I registered to AVSIM after having purchased MSFS 2020. I then discovered that it was the best place to learn, to get many tricks and news about this new sim. I take this occasion to thank all the members for their participation. I come for X-Plane (and continue to use it) ; so, Flight simulator' s world is quite something new for me. AVSIM helps me a lot. Flight sim is my main hobby. I live in France and I am a private pilot in real life. I fly the DR-400 most of the times over the Paris region, and I can tell you that this aircraft is very well modelized (in particular the mod 140 CV). Thanks again for your welcome, Daniel.

Hi There and thank you for allowing me to join. It is some years since I used a Flight Sim but now I am retired, I feel I have the time to devote to the subject. I purchased the MSFS 2020 Premium Edition on day 1 and chose the 10 CD package as apposed to the download version. Every thing downloaded without a hitch and after a few hours of trial and error, even managed to get my joystick etc working. So I now have to concentrate on watching vids on YouTube and trying to transfer the advice into practice. However, I do have one question I would like to ask and see if anybody else has come across it: I was surprised to find that once installed, the only way to prog…

Hello from Glasgow, Scotland. Stumbled across this forum by accident. I’m a Flight Sim beginner like I’m sure a lot of new members are as of late, thanks to FS2020. Really excited to learn more about flying and flight simming in general. Plan on having some “study time” where I’ll do some watching/reading, and then also some flying time where I try to put what I’ve learned into practice and just get more experience flying. And having fun, first and foremost. “Squirrel” and his tutorial series has been incredibly useful so far, and the Aviator 90 series has also been recommended as a good place to start. Don’t really know if my study/flying approach is correct, but…

Hi, A quick introduction. Though I am now a photographer, I have 20 years experience in military flight test, research and development, having worked on Typhoon flight clearance and JSF development amongst others. I have designed and produced code for flight control systems and coded for research and training sims. I have over 2500 hours on high fidelity research simulators (from 1989 to 2009) I have produced research add ons for earlier versions of MS Flight sims and Xplane (nothing commercial though) - excited by the potential of Flight Sim 2020 and hope to have a good play with the SDK when it becomes more widely available.

I’m going to guess you’ve had quite a few new members since MSFS? I'm another... I used to fly quite a lot of MSFS about 25? 30? years ago. It was really just casual, with a cheap joystick with a slider for throttle, and keyboard for yaw, but I enjoyed it. I stopped because of time constraints. A few years ago I thought about trying flight sims again and bought a couple of issues of PC Pilot... but I couldn’t understand any of it. I couldn’t even really figure out what software was available. So when I heard that MS were getting back into it, thought it might be a good opportunity to try something a bit more accessible. Over the course of the last few…

Hi new member just joined the community, to say a big thank you to a member on this site called PAJ. after downloading the new fs 2020 I have struggled for two days to get my x52 controller to work, Iv'e tried all the options to calibrate it without success aircraft were unplayable, iv'e played all previous versions of fs + Xplane and Falcon4 without any problems setting up my controllers, I happened upon your site and got my answer from PAJ, anybody else having problems just look at paj screenshot showing the correct setting for the x,y,z axis your aircraft becomes far more stable and then you can tweak the deadzones and sensitivity to your liki…

  19. I am sure this will be asked 1,000 times, so I appreciate your patience in advance. I am a long-time gamer but new to flight sims. I have enjoyed flight sim videos on youtube for a while and with the advent of MSFS20, I had an idea: My dad is retired, ex-Navy who was a navigator on nuclear subs. I suspect if I gifted him a new PC with MSFS20 plus controllers, he would enjoy it very much. (He played MSFS many many years ago and is computer savvy.) My questions are: 1) Do you have a buying guide for controllers? (Yoke, throttle, pedals, etc.) I see the Logitec throttle and yoke on Amazon running for about $300. I see the more serious simmers saying…

Greetings from France. I'm basically more a train sim guy, but I've been watching flight sim news for years, and now it seems that FS 2020 is really a game changer so I took my cheap Hotas out of its box for it and I already enjoyed a lot my first beginner's flights and more or less successful landings 🙂

Hello... I am new to Flight SIMs intending to get the MSFS 2020 in the next couple of days once the initial rush subsides. However I am not new to SIMMING as I have been using SIMs (RealFlight, ACCURC) to practice moves using RC Helicopters for almost 10 years. I am hoping to translate my RC flying and SIMMING experience to flying real airplanes on a Flight SIM. Here is a youtube video I made of a practice heli flight on an ACCURC SIM...

Hello. I am returning to flight simming after taking the better part of 14 years off (occasionally dabbling). My flight simming partner was my father who got me into the hobby in the 80's. Unfortunately, he passed in February just short of his 88th birthday. From everything I have seen he would have liked where the hobby is headed. I wish that I could share the new MSFS with him as he would have absolutely loved it. I will be flying in his memory on the 18th. Matt

I realise that this may be a difficult question to answer. I will be purchasing MSFS 2020 (just for fun). However my old PC, which is quite adequate for my daily tasks will not be able to handle MSFS 2020. So, I will have to decide on a new PC including monitor,an xBox one x or an xBox Series x. I have read the min. Spec. to ideal Spec. Now my question: How do the xBoxes in question compare to the PC Spec? Or to put it another way: Which is the wisest choice? Thanks for any info that you are willing to pass on! David

Happy to be here! Ever since a youngster, I was in love with airplanes and the "magic" of flying. Around 11 years old, my uncle (a private pilot) showed me MSFS95 and I was hooked. Taking off from Meigs Field, and looping out over Lake Michigan made me absolutely love flying. From there, I moved to MSFS98, and lastly MSFS2002. At that point, I got mostly out of simming (college, work, lack of a computer that would handle it). I dabbled in Falcon 4.0 for a little while. I never got into Xplane or other sims (not for any good reason). When MSFS2020 was announced last summer, I was shockingly happy. I decided that I would build out a proper rig (by my standards) to …

Howdy from Peters Creek, Alaska...just about three miles from PABV. I'm pushing 60, married to my hair dresser and power shopping partner and I'm a personal assistant to one cat. By day, I'm an Administrative Officer with the FAA and before this whole work-from-home thing started, my office was located at PANC, in the ATCT/TRACON (ANC/A11). Maybe "was" isn't the right word. My office is still there...I think...but I haven't seen it since the end of February. So for all I know, mom and dad may have rented my room out. My casual sim experience goes back to the mid-1990s but I haven't been all that active for a good while...just a session here and there. Then alon…
