Hi there! My name is Dave, and I'm from Western Washington! As I'm sure many of you are, I'm a pilot. I have my Commercial ASEL/AMEL Pilots Certificate and Instrument Rating. I primarily fly Cessna 172's for fun, and I'm type rated in the Cessna Citation CE-525 series jet which I fly fairly often as well. I am just starting out with my first real flight simulator and am pretty excited! Like JUST starting out haha! So far, I think I've made my mind up to use MS Flight Sim 2020. I plan to use a 60ish" TV as primary, and maybe a 32"-40" on either side. Nothin too crazy, but I plan on purchasing a throttle quadrant (maybe a Thrustmaster TCA Boeing), and Logitech Fligh…

I think this is the right place to post this. If not, please accept my apologies. I wanted to reinstall FSX on my computer. I have the original disks, serial numbers etc. I inserted the first disk, everything went well, the the computer asked for the second disk, and that went well also. Then a message appeared that simply read 'insert disk.' Nothing about what disk. I tried inserting disk 1 and disk 2, that did not work. OK, my questions is obvious, what disk is the computer asking for, or what do I do now? Thanks for any insights. Jerry Michels

Hi its my first post on this forum after some research online - I thought it would probably be best to ask the enthusiasts. My girlfriend has just completed her 8th hour in a Cessna 152. I want to surprise her for her birthday (September) by purchasing a setup for her. I need the entire lot from PC to simulator package and controls. I literally know nothing but gather starting packages are around £2,000. She can set this up at hers or in my 2nd bedroom - I dont know if I need to upgrade to a high speed broadband as I have regular fibre optic from BT. Newish but learning the world of flightsims quite fast recently. I used to fly the smaller versions of the real planes i.e. RC planes so getting used to sitting in the virtual cockpit rather than flying from outside the plane has been an different view. That been said I have had the pleasure of being behind the stick of a few different aircraft including a glider which is really a wonderful experience and I would love to do that again. Flying X-plane 11 on a Macbook Air M1. Looking forward to exploring the forums and learning more.

Back to flight simming after a 7 year break so lost most knowledge of how it all works. Seems FSX is not the standard anymore but also seems like newer Sims are not compatible with GoFlight Modules.

Hello there! I hail from the not-too-distant land of SOH (been a member there for almost seven years now). I figure it's high time I check this site out. I've been an avid aviation nerd since I was a kid and picked up flight simming in the early 2000's (somewhere around '01 or '02). My first was FS98 followed by a trio of Novalogic combat sims (F-16, F-22, and MiG-29). I decided to fire up an old computer. It's an eMachines tower that I once used as a Media machine (DVR, movies, music). It has an AMD Sempron 3000+ w 1GB Ram, WinXPSP2, an ATI AIW 9600 and Creative Audigy soundcard (on the shelf). I have MSFS 2002 loaded on it and in the box I had my old Saitex X36 HOTAS from my Falcon 4.0 days. I'm happily surprised that everything worked!...well, except for the CMOS battery. What's the latest version of MSFS & XPlane that I should be able to get to run on this? I am a Private Pilot and my goals are to use this to maintain proficiency when I can't get to the airport. I did purchase a livery addon, but that was for the aircraft you were flying, not those parked at airports. Your wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello and thank you for any assistance you can provide. I am a pilot IRL and am considering a home FAA approved BATD flight simulator for maintaining IFR currency. I am not all that familiar with gaming or computers. Ideally I'd like to have a home sim that is exactly or close to my plane: Garmin G3X for PFD, Garmin 500 autopilot, and Garmin 750Xi for GPS, all in a C172. I've reached out directly to Gleim and Xplane, they both seemed helpful as mud as to the ability to get a plane set up this way. Can anyone offer advice on the feasibility and methods of doing this? What products to use? What hardware/software/vendors? Or, am I barking up the wrong …

I have been gaming since the 70's. I have been visiting AVSIM probably just about since it's inception. Despite my years long visitations, apparently have never registered! I came to ask a question and there is no record of me; well, I registered. Sorry everyone! I appreciate the collective acumen of this community from the most intermittent participants to the most expert and active. I have flown just about every iteration of FS over the decades, and I have recently rolled up the sleeves and have been digging in with MSFS 2020 and my Quest 2. Incredible experience. Greetings! I've been a long time lurker. I've been flying sims since MSFS 4.0 and Sublogic's ATP. I've been planning and building my C172 home cockpit for over a year now and I'm happy to say I'm 95% complete. I still need to add some real Cessna parts like handles/latches and I'm still waiting for my seats to come in as well as assemble a center console. More to come!
