I have been using FSX on Windows 7 and 10 since it was released in 2006(?). It was a great sim for what I used it for. Flying a Continental 757 out of KEWR. I had the game "tweaked" the way I wanted. Everything was great and enjoyable.

However, I dumped Windows 7/10 and switched to using Linux Mint last month (and loving it!). I also downloaded/installed the latest STEAM for the Software manager.

I currently have 2 systems running Linux Mint 22.3 and Steam for games. (My first time using Steam)

	Here are the system specs...

	System 1 (2013).

	Motherboard: ASUS M4A87T AM3 AMD 870
CPU: AMD AthlonII X3 Triple-Core 3.3GHz
PSU: Enermax 500W
Memory: Kingston 8GB (2x 4GB) Value Ram DDR3 1333MHz
Video Card: ASUS ENGT430/DI/1GD3(LP) 1GB DDR3 1600MHz

	System 2 (2020).

Motherboard: ASUS Prime H310M-E R2.0 Intel H310 Chipset, LGA 1151, HDMI
CPU: INTEL CORE i3-8350K 4-Core 4.0 GHz, LGA 1151, 91W TPD
PSU: EVGA 600 BQ, 80 PLUS Bronze 600W, Semi Modular, ATX
Memory: KINGSTON 16GB DDR4 2400Mhz, CL17 DIMM
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GT 1030, 1189 - 1430MHz, 2GB SDDR4

I am think of downloading and trying X-Plane 11. Are these systems OK for running it? (I might have to turn the game settings down to low..)

Thanks for your help. I will have more questions after I try to install it.

	Hi everyone,

I’m a flight sim enthusiast from Italy and I’m excited to finally join this community. I’ve been flying virtually for a while now, mainly splitting my time between MSFS 2024 and X-Plane.

I’m looking forward to learning from you all and sharing some "virtual" skies together. Happy flying!

	Cheers

Since 15 years, my occupation is to work for a non benefit association, a small museum related the story of an airbase in Belgium.

Recently we have made a simulator for the visistors and specially for children.
So My ols computer can only run FSX and FS2004.
In relation with the story of our military airbase, I'd like to find the Alphasim Hawker Hunter, which was the airplane used on the base by the belgian airforce, and add the repaint of the 7th squadron that is existing and downloadable.
But I'm always looking for the package from Alphasim with the Hawher Hunter and it seems totaly inexisting on the web.
Is ther someone who could help me to find it.

Thank you very much

	Hello everyone !

My name is Taylor, and I live in France. I discovered flight sim with FS 2020 (XBox version). For FS 2024, I bought a new PC and a dedicated hardware setup (Winwing FCU/EFIS/MCDU and VKB joystick and throttle).

I mainly fly with airliners, especially Airbus (Fenix A320, Inbuilds A350, FBW A380) and Embraer (FSS E190). I'm also a military aircraft user (Miltech C17 Globemaster) and a beginner with business jets (Flight FX Hondajet et Citation X). I don't have VATSIM or IVAO yet, but I use BeyondATC to train my skills for some more realistic flights.

I'm new to AVSIM but not to flight simming however, I've been out the game for a good while so I will definitely benefit from the knowledge in the forums!

I run MSFS 2024 via either my Lenovo LOQ gaming laptop and my Xbox series X using the Thrustmaster Captain X edition flight controls so please bear with me if I ask questions regarding both platforms.

Hello from NYC. I'm in my young 60's and not particularly techy but I built a gaming pc 2019, downloaded X-Plane 11 (and Elite Dangerous) and more recently X-Plane 12. I fly the Airfoillabs Cessna 172 almost exclusively and treat the process as a technical progression much like taking real lessons (flying disciplined traffic patterns, route planning, map reading, etc..) .There is so much to learn aside from the particulars of ones chosen plane. The attraction for me is the technical challenge and I'm fascinated by how serious/sophisticated the flightsim community can be....VatSim as exhibit A. I'm not there yet - ATC is scary. My graduation present, when I feel like I've earned it and ready, will be the King Air 350. Until than I'll keep enjoying/loving X-Plane, GA, my Airfoillabs Cessna, and Littlenavmap (thank you Mr. Barthel).

Maybe a good intro is a prompt I gave to ChatGPT this morning: "Will be two users: one is just starting flying lessons at a school using C172Ns. Other is husband of that student who's a lapsed ATP infected by the flying bug again, intending to re-enter with C172 VFR flying."

ChatGPT gave me a seemingly thorough response, about 80 lines containing 10 various hardware and software sections with cost totaling US$ 4,800-5,600. I'm thinking it could be useful to post that response and get comments and suggestions from the experienced people on these forums. Good idea or not? And if good, which forum? Thanks!

I've been trying to locate the 172 w/G1000 if2025 MSFS It appears at least to me that it is not included

in the premium version. Is this an "add" on ? Just curious as the 172 is my goto for flight and sim training.

	Hey everyone!

I’m Alejandro, and I just wanted to introduce myself and VueloSimple to this great community. I’ve been passionate about flight simulation for years, and that passion led me to start developing airports for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

At VueloSimple, we focus on creating detailed and immersive airport sceneries, always aiming for a good balance between realism and performance. We’ve worked on airports in Argentina, India, and Pakistan, including Skardu International Airport, which was quite a challenge but a lot of fun to bring to life!

I’m excited to be here, learn from others, and share our work with fellow sim enthusiasts. Looking forward to chatting with you all and exchanging ideas!

	Cheers,
Alejandro

	Hi fellow simmers,

Been simming on and off since CFS2 and picked up the hobby with fs2020 earlier this year.

Like many in this community, I'm fond not only of virtual flying, but also the more technical aspects including interfacing with the sim using hardware like streamdeck etc.

I fly fs2020 almost exclusively but am pondering whether to purchase a copy of XP12 as well.

Currently, I am using NeoFly to add some purpose to my simming adventures and I enjoy that a lot.

I also like to fly in groups online but at the moment I am not part of such a group.

	Greetings,

	Scherm

Well, they froze my account since my last post....15 years ago, but I am now back. Geez, I remember when AVSIM started. back in the days for AOL's Flight Sim Resource Center, The VA News Flash with Gary Kulash....and all the CRAZY Virtual Airlines. And yes, my own Air Fresno is back kicking 27 years after its own start. This new (to me anyway) MSFS 2020, amazing stuff, eh? "I can see my house from here"....that's the first thing I did. But the people seem different to me. Back then we did a lot for each other, I must have painted dozens of planes for free for other VA's. It cost me to have my own done for Air Fresno's revival, just don't have the painting chops anymore. But I'm old(er) now, wiser, (richer), and with just a handful of family and a few friends the old VA is back alive.
