Or maybe 6 year break, not really sure. I left my FS9 and FSX untouched and finally have them uninstalled. All those tweaks, afcads, custom flight dynamic. I wrote several reviews too on Flightsim, Mutley's Hanger, Aerosoft Reviews, X-Plained (Mig 15/17), and one Germany based simming forum which I believe no longer existed. During the break did I check about the developments of MSFS 2020 regularly. It's pretty "intimidating" looking how robust the transformation is. After I manage to be back in shape after pandemic, finally got a decent rig for running MSFS at "medium slides". I migrated from fsx dedicated PC to laptop, a bit nervous and awkward since I only use lap…

Hi everyone, I'm new to serious flight sim... I played MSFS back in 1999 when I was prepping for flight school, life choices and 9/11 made me stop my flight training, now that I'm able to afford flight training I wanted to get a solid home flight sim setup going to help with training. Hoping to join the community and learn from your collective knowledge and later help newbies like myself.

HI All, Its been many years (probably 10-15) since I last had involvement with a flight simulator. Times have changed and I've decided to give it all another go. New PC to meet the demands of MSFS 2020, a couple of hardware items etc to get me going. I'm no stranger to Avsim - There might be a few still here who remember me (Akulla) ... I was heavily involved with Avsim as a reviewer and team member, even on the BoD for a short time! Many of the team have long since moved on, or sadly passed on. Tom, Maury, Robert Kirkland and Whitwell, Matt, Francois to name a few - all good friends of mine for many years. There were also many regular members on the fo…

Hello to the community, I'm flightsimmer since 1998 - but no nerd. I've just a known problem of simmers, using fs09/fsx at win 10/11 - the "lack of memory-problem" - although I bought and installed the DX 10-Controller. Thanks in advance for tips, I have created a new post to the topic. Yours truly Andreas

I thought before I came charging in asking the questions I wanted to ask, I'd probably better to do courtesy and say hello and introduce myself. 😁 Hi. I'm Querqueti and I'm just shy of fifty years old and still don't know how the hell that happened and I live in Britain. I've been playing flight sims since Digital Integration's Fighter Pilot, where you had blue sky and green ground and that was basically it. I was never good at it, though. In fact during the time I owned a ZX Spectrum I don't think I ever successfully managed to land the thing. I was better at Elite, quite honestly. I boarded the Flight Simulator series at version 3 and spent happy hours zooming jagg…

Hello everyone, fellow avgeek and new flight simmer here. I often end up lurking here when I've got questions about LNM. I use it a lot and really appreciate the hard work, dedication and passion from the LNM contributors. My interests include flight planning, MSFS scenery creation, and home cockpit building. I've dreamed of having a machine capable of FS'ing for a while, but once MSFS2020 was released I decided it was about time I made it happen. So far I've been simming for 9 months. I'm hoping to have a basic cockpit setup that I will start out with a yoke, a box with about 8-10 switches and a mix/thr/prop with carb heat in the coming months. I fly…

Hello! I'm 31 years old. Live in the Atlanta area. I've been playing Flight Simulator since FS2002. My father is an aerospace engineer and worked on the F-22 program, the C-17 program, and multiple Boeing programs, among many others. He has taught me so much over the years. Now that I'm older and actually "know what I'm doing" my current hobby is airline simulation. I've recently (last year or 2) been studying the FBW A32NX mod. A couple months ago I discovered the Fenix A320 and it blew my mind and I've now become an armchair expert in basic Airbus operations. My fascination and love for detail has taken me through every switch and button in the cockpits and I love …

Hi all. I'm just getting back into flight simming again after a long break (years). I've quickly become very confused! 🤔. Not being too sure of system requirements, and not wanting to go too mad too soon, I bought the Steam edition of MSFS. This was the last version of a sim I used. Having recently thrown away my old tower computer, I'm now using a Dell laptop. So, having also binned my Saitek controller I installed and started it up using just the keyboard - all went better than expected. It was at this point that confusion rose it's ugly head. My favourite plane of all time is the Twin Otter so, I went looking for it on the Steam list - not there. Looked on the web…

Hi, everyone! I've been flight-simming and lurking here for a long time, but I've only recently decided to join the conversation. I'm an amateur author so you'll probably find me mostly in the "stories" section, although I'm also an ATP/CFI, II, and MEI who's willing to help those new to aviation. Glad to be here!

Well, I am running a site where I am head redactor, specialised in technology, personally I am a big fan of aviation and I want to write more about that so I am gathering information here and gathering experience. Thanks!

Hello boys and girls! I been an aviation nut for more than twenty years. I got my PPL in 2001 while living in Sydney, flying out of Bankstown Airport (YSBK). I was busy with life and only got into the Flight Simming when MSFS2020 was introduced. I love flying the little Cessna 152 and 172 as that is was I learned to fly in many years ago. Now, I am fascinated with the airliners, specifically the Airbus family. The Fly By Wire (FBW) A320 Neo is such an easy aircraft to learn to fly, I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about taking the plunge into the large airliners. I am also loving the Headwind A330 - 900 Neo. I am also very excited about MSFS202…

Hello everyone! I've messed with flight sims off and on for about 10 years, but after watching some recent videos using VATSim the bug has bitten me hard. I'm currently waiting for my new video card to show up so I can beef up my machine to run MSFS. I know 2024 is coming out next year but I really don't want to wait that long to upgrade. I am from Lexington, KY and enjoy flying mainly the GA single prop aircraft. I'm begun to dabble with the twins a bit but I really like that low and slow VFR. I'm a bit intimidated by the jets but eventually I'll get around to reading up on them and try my hand at it. Hope to see some of you on VATSim. I use the numbers N146DE…

Hi AvSimmers! Just getting started with MSFS 2020 Deluxe Premium and researching stuff for adding more realism to my virtual cockpit. So far just starting with Logitech flight yoke, throttle quadrant and rudder pedals and looking to get time in Cessna 172. Hopefully transition to the real thing at some point! LOL. I do have a real small airport a couple miles from my house so it is something I have dreamt of doing for years! Happy flying, -Scott

I am new to flight simulation. Purchased a fairly hefty gaming desktop, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, and Logitech Rudder pedals and x-Plane 12. I am an instrument rated private pilot and built and own a Van's RV-7A. I am interested in the RealityXP GTN650 plugin as I have the GTN650 in the RV. My interest in flight simulation is primarily to practice and sharpen my instrument and GTN650 skills.

Good day everyone from a brand new member! I hold a professional pilot’s licence but know almost nothing about simulation on a PC and need to learn quickly as I have volunteered to help build one, for my local RAF Air Cadet youth organisation! We have sourced an old light aircraft cockpit and (having cut it off) are using this as a basis to build a sim. Obviously our budget is limited which has determined , to an extent, what we can afford, but the plan so far is to use Logitech instruments, a Thrustmaster Wartgog joystick, with extension tube, Logitech Saikonrudder pedals, and a Honeycomb Bravo throttle quadrant. There’s plenty of space for expansion in the future i…

hello everyone I just installed MSFS & I am not very impressed by the dullness of the instruments & the general over-sheen on the dials making them difficult to see properly The basic Cessna 152 instrument panel is pretty awful & why are the interior dashboard so dark I want to see what I'm doing with the instruments Feel like going back to FSX to the bright displays of the cessna 172
