PMDG 777

  1. Hey all~ I am working my way through the T7 for it's inaugural flight (beyond the Tutorial #1 - which worked out great I might add). I am working on my planning and got to thinking about aircraft performance specifications. I have gone through the FCTM, FCOM v1/2 and can't locate this information. I am looking for the simple stuff like MTOW, ZFW, service ceiling, range, engine type etc. I am sure it it were a snake it would bite me - but I can't find this information. Benjamin Van Eps .. I forgot to mention, I did find the information online obviously. http://www.boeing.com/assets/pdf/commercial/airports/acaps/777rsec2.pdf I will just compare this i…

Out of impulse I decided to fly a deadstick landing on the 777. In most aspects the airplane systems responded in an expected way, but I did notice details that are not quite what I expected. Hope the technical types on this forum would like to discuss a little bit about this particular aspect of the simulation. I know by reading other posts here that some supporters are quite easily angered. So let’s start by stating this is by no means a challenge to PMDG's authenticity, since I have no idea how a real 777 will respond either. I read through the hydraulic, air, electrical, and flight control part of the SD in FCOM, and yes I also read through the entire Introductio…

Hello guys! Maybe I make something wrong, but I on my flights, the 777 always disregard any altitude constraints. I have 12000A in my plan, and the aircraft descend below this. Configuration: AP1+2+LNAV+VNAV

page 17 of the tutorial deals with fuel "enter your route and then check the PROG page’s fuel prediction for the destination airport – subtract your current load from the amount it predicts at the destination and add 15500 lbs (7000 kg) for alternate/hold and so on and that’ll be a decent estimate. Use more if you have a long distance alternate or other extenuating circumstances. A rough rule of thumb is to assume the airplane will use around 17,600 lbs (8000 kg) of fuel per hour of flight time. D" Having planned a route of LSGG-OBDM I save and go to PROG but there is no fuel , just Distance. When I cycle through the 4 pages it does show fuel but only the amount tha…

Hi there, I have the PMDG 777 and all was working fine with it until today. Just loaded up a flight and the cockpit labels around the dials and on buttons are totally blurred. Please see pics. System: Alienware Aurora-R4, Intel i7-3930k @ 3.20 GHz (overclocked to 4.3GHz), 16GB RAM, Windows 8 64-bit, Duel AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB RAM (crossfire off for FSX). Resolution 1920x1080x32, trilinear filtering, anti-aliasing off in FSX (4X and 12X with edge detect in Catalyst Control Center, also Anti-Aliasing Method is Supersampling in here). Texture resolution is very high, 3D cockpit high res ticked. I haven't changed any settings since turning my computer on and off …

Hi, I tried loading a saved flight located at KBOS. It CTD'd and according to event viewer the fault module is "unknown". I think it's related to the panel state but I'm not sure. Anyone else had this?

Good evening When Is the ETA for SP1? Best regards Marcel Ambord

  9. I have seen frooglesim's video of the PMDG 777 during the day, and when the lights on the wings are on, it reflects off the ground. This isn't the case for me as it only does this at night. How can I get the lights to reflect off the ground during the day too? I will post a link to the video to demonstrate what I'm referring to: Scroll to about 0:30 second mark and you will see the lights clearly reflecting off the ground during the day.

So I was sitting at the gate in CYYZ in a position where it was basically impossible to use the pushback function. I usually end up having to slew myself out of the gate and fake the pushback. Problem is, as soon as I exited slew mode the 777 took off and pretty much ruined the flight. I know this has been a constant problem in FSX for lots of add-ons, but I can't remember what the solution is. Anyone else experiencing this have a solution?

Hi PDMG! Say, what if you can install air stairs? The 737 has it and it would be a wonderful add on for the triple. Maybe have a option under the menu to where it rolls in to either the first door or the second?? Just an idea

Having an issue with the 777 sound. Very bizarre to say the least. I have 5.1 surround sound set up. When I fly the NGX, I get all engine sounds coming through all speakers whether I am online via FSINN or not. Engine sounds come through all the time through all the speakers. However with the 777 after I start the engines, the engine noise sounds fail to come through the rear two speakers. I have to go into the FSX menu/sound and then select my primary speakers from the menu pull down which are the default speakers (I have a USB headset for online stuff so that is listed as well) to get the engine noise sounds to be heard through the rear speakers. As soon as I do thi…

Being a creature of habit I naturally enter the 777 cockpit with an NGX mindset. Regarding the MCP, I'm used to being able to deactivate different aspects of the autopilot as needed. For instance, wanting to control the roll manually how do I deactivate the HDG SEL mode? Same thing with pitch, how do I take manual control of this aspect without disconnect the A/P all together? In the NGX you could deactivate, say heading select, by pressing the HDG SEL-button. Doesn't seem to work here. Also, if you forced the yoke in one direction you would get manual control of pitch or roll. In the 777 it seems the A/P simply disconnects all together. Or did I miss something completel…

Hello PMDG, I'd like to report some sort of a problem with the option in the PMDG Setup -> Options -> Performance page in the CDU. It seems certain settings have strange effects on the overall performance of FSX. It was already known reducing the refresh rate to - let's say - 15 FPS, increases the overall framerate of FSX drastically (by around 20%). However, I found that this also has a negative affect on smoothness and causes jumps in framerates sometimes. I'm running VSync 1/2 refresh rate without an FPS limiter, which will run 100% smooth normally, but in the 777 it does not. Only if a put my displays FPS to something higher than 30 Hz I will get the great smoo…

I've seen something about the newly-updated PFPX to 1.0.6 earlier today but cannot seem to locate it with a search, hence the ask. All of a sudden, after updating, now can no longer export route plans in the previous RTE format and the FMC Route Request cannot now see these new RT2 plans. Any ideas?

I have just finished my first repaint of the 777 however I had a bit of trouble with having solid windows. I am not a noobie at repaints even with PMDG paint kits and found that the window alpha channel was not present. A bit of masking round the windows and black paint solved the problem but I was just wondering if anybody else had found this.

  20. I posted this before but got no response, so hopefully this gets picked up by someone at PMDG that can make this wonderful sim even more accurate! The FUEL IMBALANCE checklist comes up much too soon after an engine out situation. At 500kg imbalance, the low tank pointer shows up correctly, but the FUEL IMBALANCE EICAS caution shouldn't be triggered that soon. The fuel flow during the engine out in take off was around 15000 kg/hr. It takes considerably longer to get this message on the real airplane and the FUEL IMBALANCE checklist very often doesn't even come up during an engine out situation.

Hi folks, I still haven't seen the effects of *not* sticking to correct sequence of switching on ... 1. R ELEC Demands 2. C1/C2 ELEC Primaries 3. L ELEC Demands 4. C1/C2 AIR Demands and the other way round 4-3-2-1 to switch them off. FCOMv1 reads on page NP.21.29: 'Pressurize the right system first to prevent fluid transfer between systems.' Is this modelled? The synoptics does show a connection?! Thanx in advance.

  22. Hi everyone, just did my first full flight in the 777, taking the FDX 77F on a short 53 mins hop from LFPG to EDDK. I am absolutely impressed with the level of detail and system depth of the 777, however it took me three restarts of FSX and my computer to finally get her ready for engine start and I still noticed a bunch of bugs. Well, maybe I made the "mistake" to start her from COLD&DARK... and the "mistake" to try changing panel states?! That seems to be a very vulnerable point of the PMDG 777. So here are my observations: - Aircraft was equipped with the flight test package although not activated in the options. With eng…

  23. Hi there, I read some time ago the 777 has also fly by wire. As this term only say's the yoke has no physical connection to the surfaces I wanted to know whether Boeing has also a system like airbus where the plane stays in the last commanded attitude (autotrim called?). Or does central yoke mean zero deflection on surfaces unlike on airbus? Also is this feature simulated?

The FCOM states that all packs should configure to high flow when setting the M/D Flow selector to HIGH. Also they should configure to high flow when switching off the recirc fans. I detected that there is no difference in air flow noise or duct pressure when i switch the M/D Flow between NORM and HIGH. Also there is no change in duct pressure when i switch off the recirc fans, only the air flow noise reduces. Is this the correct behaviour?

  25. I have to admit this is a very small thing, but this is something I noticed on page 2.6 of the FCTM. It states that the use of reverse thrust will remove V speeds and derates. Currently this doesn't happen. Something to sweep up in a patch perhaps, if there's time?
