PMDG 777

hi, in the normal 777 procedure is the APU now used to power up the aircraft of external power still in use ? or does it depends on the airline or airport? cause lately I read that most of the airports are not using anymore the external power (I might be wrong) thank you for advising on this

I was thinking of doing some airport hopping, but the FMC seems locked in approach mode after landing. If I press "INIT REF" all I do is get to the approach page, VNAV won't work etc. I tried putting my next leg into ROUTE 2 and activating it, but that didn't help either. I've tried browsing through FCOM's too, but couldn't find anything. If anyone can help me and tell me where to find this information in the manuals I would really appreciate it

Hey, guess this could be one for the "issue tracking thread". I'm using Active Sky 2012 and now while in my transat flight EGLL - CYUL I tried the weather request feature, by creating a EGLLCYUL.wx file inside the PMDG/WX folder, and copied the AS2012 wind data in it as per the description in the readme. Was able to import the data using the "wind data request" feature, works like a charm ! One issue: it seems that once you hit the "request" button, the file is obviously read, but is being kept locked to the process. Meaning we can't delete the file from Windows Explorer, nor update it with refreshed wind information a couple of hours later. You get the me…

The 777 recommended specs state 16:9 or 16:10 monitor. Will it work with a 4:3 monitor? I run the 737NGX without any problem on this monitor, but if I remember well, in the settings, there is an option to select this ratio. Is there a similar option in the T7? Gaétan

Hi, I also have the PMDG 737 NGX and I'm using a 5-1 sound system and get the engines in the rear speakers. In other words I'm getting surround sound. However with the T7, I'm only getting sound from the front speakers. I checked the setup in the FMC and it has the same speakers checked. I've tried using the Q control, but nothing changes. Am I missing something here or is this normal for just the front speakers? Thanks Rob

Firstly, as a real world T7 pilot, I'd like to say what a fantastic job PMDG did with this simulation. Just like I did with the 744 a few years back, I find the PMDG T7 a great tool in preparing for my proficiency checks. Yes, they're that good! Having said that, a few points came up whilst practicing scenarios. 1) although the fix page allows complex fixes to be created (eg DXB vor radial 300 at 3.2 DME would be DXB300/3.2), the created fix doesn't display as it should ie. DXB-01. Instead there is a blank field where the name of the fix should be. 2) the aircraft rate of deceleration with the speed brakes extended seems a little too slow compared to real life…

According to the PMDG 777 Introduction Manual (pg 126), rather than click each light switch individually to engage/disengage, you can use your mouse middle/wheel click to engage all 3. I have tried this numerous times without success. I have to revert to clicking each one manually. Can anyone out there elaborate on this? Much obliged. Rgds,

Hello, First of all, I don't think I'm qualified to say anything regarding the ultimate Boeing 777 simulation you have. However, I'd like to ask you whether the main gear strut compression is simulated fully. May be I haven't observed it properly but as the aircraft touches down, and when the spoilers go up, I don't see the whole plane sink a bit compressing the gear struts. But I have observed the compression on main gear struts, as the nose touch down. Thanks Nevin

There is a minor problem where when you extend the speed brakes and turn the yoke slightly to, say, the left, the spoilers on the right side retract all the way down, not halfway down or anything in between, it's either fully up or fully down when you turn the yoke. It's hard to find a video of this, but you can just see it at about 1:07 when the aileron moves and the spoiler slightly retracts, whereas on the PMDG 777, the spoiler would go all the way down.

So, I started from cold and dark, got everything powered up & setup. After take off I got to about 5,000ft and the PFD and ND suddenly went a bit crazy, all elements of them both started moving or spinning randomly. The back up instruments were functioning normally. I saved the flight, exited FSX and reloaded. Initially, the instruments were normal but after a few seconds the same behaviour returned. Hard to tell if it is a problem with the way I have setup the aircraft or a bug. Any help welcome. Thanks!

Hi I am fully aware by now that there is no 2D panel and i am not a computer expert or developer by any stretch of the imagination but how hard can it be to create/make a 2D panel for this aircraft for anyone who wishes to use it? Im not made of money and dont have the best graphics card and so by using the 2D cockpit over the VC it helps a lot with my FPS and ease of use. Thanks Nath

Hi everyone, I see many threads discussing liveries but I have not been able to find any downloadable liveries on PMDG's website: this is unusual. Can anyone please advise? I have just purchased the 777 LR/F today and am excited about it. I have come across some bugs on the exterior model such as undercarriages not displaying and engine cowls open or missing but I will report fully on this when I have made a thorough note of them: I am sure they are simple bugs which will be fixed in due course. Hello everybody, The first thing i found out, during TCAS test the filled red square doesnt show : The second is, during flight above Atlantic alternate airports arrow with distance doesnt show, only if im turning towars to them: . Here is a picture how it looks in real life : . It should show the alternate airports all the time with 640 scale selecter,relative to plane position. And the last, even i have selected the FMS CRZ Phase Thrust Limit in the equipment options menu CLB, reaching the cruise altitude the thrust limit change to CRZ all the time. Anyway, I saw a thread somewhere about the manuals, whether it would be worth of buying the Captains or the Chief Pilot set, here's my thoughts: I thought I will give it a try and qot a quote from a local printshop, to print out the pdf's that came with the product and put it on a folder. Sure they can do that, and with also a discount price for the company I work. Sounds good, until I got the price Printing the pdfs into a folder would cost me 1179,00 eur (without VAT) - quess am I doing that? NOT:) I know Finland is expensive country but…

Not sure about how much you can derate your takeoffs? I made an excel calculator to help. With the release of PFPX I find no need to make a Dispatch sheet like the one I made for the NGX. But PFPX/TOPCAT can't do takeoff performce calculations at the moment. Until a profile for the 777 is ready, you can use this file to calculate what derate to use. Calculations are based on FCOMv1. On descent in VNAV mode the 777 was doing over -5000FPM BUT when the overspeed zone was touched the A/P did nothing. Why? I took a screenshot to show it. I'll possibly upload it next post if someone also queries this.
