There is a thread on the prepar3d forum regarding this but it isn't going anywhere fast so thought I would ask the question here. http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/topic/autogen-house-size/ It has been a long standing issue with FSX but surely there must be a way of dealing with it. Why are the autogen buildings and trees so big? Is there a way to scale them down by 30-50%? It would really help when judging altitude on low and curving approaches when you are looking out of the canopy most of the time. In the past the answer was always no it can't be done, but does anybody know why? As mentioned in that thread, X-plane has more accurately sized trees, I know it …

Hello everyone, Sorry for yet another one of these kind of posts. I've been doing some research and searching prior to posting this and have found a lot of useful information scattered across various postings. From what I can tell, it looks like I could at least run P3D. My biggest question of course is, how well could I run it? I have an i5 2500k OC to 4.2 or maybe even 4.6(can't remember right now and not able to check at the moment), 8G RAM, GTX 560Ti 1G on Win7 64-bit. I know I definitely won't be able to go crazy with my settings by any means and I'm not expecting miracles. But, I am hoping to at least run at comparable settings to what I have in FSX and …

Hello, Recent P3D v2.4 converter, so far so good. Question.... I have downloaded the IVAO MTL pack to be use with vPilot client. However P3D seems to think that these are flyable aircraft and therefore it loads up, in my vehicle selection, that I have 5986 aircraft! Is there anyway to disable this or make an ignore this within a .cfg ?? Cheers

Very simple question but I can't figure out how to do it. The red line at top left with fps and fps limit (P3d2) looks horrible in screenshots, - so how can I make it go away? Thanks.

Hi All, I am a newbie Converting from FSX to Prepar after over 25 years in the Sim and a lifetime of flying in real life (now retired and slowly building a new "cool" sim in my office for a little IFR Mentoring program I have developed for new IFR students). I am learning the Prepar 2.4 System piece by piece/issue by issue. I apologize for this newbie question in advance. I have installed the entire Mega Scenery 2.0 onto a separate 4TB Hybrid drive and it works fine--better than fine actually--the best I have ever seen in 25+ years of simming---but--and this is the issue--My Scenery although extremely clear and liquid silky in terms of frames--is very dark compa…

Evening All, Something I've come across - While using SweetFX 'standalone' within P3D V2.4, for some reason if I am to enter the menu bars, SweetFX will disable, now I don't mean disable where I have to enable it again, I mean it won't work, I have to close the sim to load SweetFX back.. Should I use the actual SweeFX Configuration to resolve the matter or is this known in P3D? Secondly when using the menus, the simulator will lag and drop to very low FPS, it's only when I close the menu bars I go back to normal FPS and everything back to normal.. Thirdly, any possibility to have that 'alt' (Flights, Options etc) bar removed is that something tha'll always…

  11. The main P3d forum is now second in total numbers of threads (and posts) to the the main FSX forum among the flight sim app forums. I wrote here back in May that this would happen "before the end of the year". I'm not saying that this is a good thing or a bad thing. It's obvious that more people have switched to P3d, but the reason for increased posting may also be due to there being more issues showing up with P3d as the installed base gets larger. With the imminent release of the PMDG 777 for P3d, that rate of adoption should increase further.

My performance just gets massacred in p3d when flying the same addons I use in FSX. I will admit I run the eye candy options like HDR and water but I was getting 7 fps last night in SoCal (default base scenery but with FSDT KLAX and LVFR KSAN)...Weather opus but like puffy clouds ... Nothing too dense single layer. Carenado PC 12, dual GTN 750's running Is my gtx 570 really holding me back? Are there any stats on this? In FSX buying a new card wouldn't do a lot but allow me to crank the AA etc.

  14. BBS have released an unfinished version of their Airbus, the Prologue version. Developers seem to be doing this a lot, I guess because it means a trickle of much needed income. In my view the BBS leaves the Wilco well behind in the graphics department which given their respective ages would be expected. The rather aggressively defended Aerosoft version is very good, but it is 'lite' on systems as it was always intended to be. The BBS with a few minor hitches at this stage is awesome on systems, and I am certain the final version witll keep us busy looking up the QRH. These screenshots were taken on a variant of the tutorial (which needs a bit of work). The Airb…

Simmers, There's something that I've wondered for a while, that was never thought possible before, however with the advent of P3Dv2 I've been told just might be. Basically, I'm wondering about the lighting of aircraft at airports. Something that FSX has never been able to accomplish has been having aircraft being brightened by scenery lights at airports. It's highly unrealistic to see a black aircraft sitting on a tarmac brightened by airport lights, as in the real world most parked aircraft are quite visible as a result of the aforementioned. Now, I would've dismissed it, however I remember reading somewhere that LM intended to implement something along these lines i…

Hey all, I posted asking about Xplane also but wanted to post in the P3D forum since I will run both games at 1920X1200. My question is, will P3D v2.4 run at a resolution of 1920X1200? If so, do I have to edit the config file or is there a option in the menu settings for 1920X1200. Thanks, Marc

Hey all, I hope this is in the right section. I tried to do a thorough search before I made a post and came up dry. I just got Prepar3d about 5 days ago and have been enjoying it a lot however, I have been experiencing a very annoying issue. I have been having continuous crash to desktop fatal error and it only happens during the approach phase about 6,000 feet and below. Now I haven't tested this in other areas other than what I am going to mention, but I am hoping with some small details someone may know the possible cause. I will also mention during this phase of flight and during the last few times it has happened, there has been broken to overcast cloud cove…

Hi, I've tried to load Prepar3d for the first time since last weekend when it was working perfectly. I get load the menu fine, but when I click fly and get to 100% loading, the virtual cockpit loads for a second max and then P3D crashes. I've tried deleting the main .cfg and also repairing P3D with the installer but I'm still having the same issue. Has anyone got any ideas because I'm at a loss. I found a topic regarding Vistamare and Aerosoft, which I thought maybe the solution, but that file isn't on my system whatsoever. Thanks Sam

I initially tried P3D last year when 2.0 came out and was not impressed with it at all. I could not get the same performance with it as I did with FSX and my system just did not have the GPU horsepower to run it properly. Then there were the constant issues with crashing add-on's and with P3D itself, usually after trying to run one of the updates released by LM. By March, I gave up and went back to FSX not only because of those issues, but because I could not fly my PMDG planes in it nor was ASN available. With the recent announcement that PMDG will be releasing the T7 and the NGX for P3D, as well as the release of P3D 2.4, I decided to give it a whirl. All I can say …

  24. Was reading a post on the P3D official forum about improving visual quality by changing settings in the Nvidia Control Panel Prepar3D profile. Original post here: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=8658.0 Basically in the Nvidia control panel "Prepar3D profile" you force anisotropic filtering to 16x, then switch Antialiasing ON (I used 4x). You then switch FXAA OFF in the P3D sim graphics settings. This has got rid of all my shimmering and any blurries! P3D scenery looks fantastic. Payback is a slight drop in FPS but I haven't noticed any significant stutters or pauses yet. Hope this helps Adam

  25. The divergence, is how Cloud Shadows are so richly featured and noted, by means of having gone to Winter depiction, for such places now as Wawa, Ontario, Canada. If Steve, of Steve's Dx10 Fixer fame, can bring cloud shadows to FSX...then what a wonderful development that would be. It was SUCH a pleasure to see the shadows from the clouds playing across the ice of the frozen lakes and snow-laden fields, (via Pilot's/ORBX's Vector 1.20) and in how real it appeared, and added to the sheer enjoyment of P3D.x So, for all those that still predominately run FSX, perhaps petition Steve to add cloud shadows, to DX10 FSX. For us... we P3D'ers...if you also run ORBX Glo…
