Thanks to @SteveW and @LRBS on my post on settings questions after completing my new 12900k build. The sim looks and performs better than I could have hoped. My next question is more towards weather settings. When I was messing with settings in flight after all the tweaks, I noticed a MASSIVE difference between clear skies and other weather settings. FYI - I use ASP3D for V5. When I was testing I saw frame rates go from 25-30 to 80-100 simply by having the generated weather from ASP3D (which was a broken layer at about FL200) changed to clear skies in the sim and closing ASP3D. I want to focus on the weather settings to get a good balance. FPS can dip to below…

W10; P3D_v5_Academic_5.3.17.28160 Have been unable to use the Sim for a few weks (hospital) but on 'return' to the Sim a couple of days ago found that the CH-Yoke button assigned to 'Spot View' was, in fact giving me a top-down view! I had just updated W10 with the latest 'stuff' - certainly this was an unexpected change! Do not know if this is the reason for the assigned button issue... Am unable to re-assign this button to Spot View (smooth transitions) as only Locked Spot appears to be available 😞 Any suggestions? Ken 😉

Anybody have any luck programming this plane to work with a 3rd party FCU hardware? I've been successful using the LVARS with things like switches and lights etc. But struggling with autopilot/MCP aspects. Would like to be able to change altitude bug, heading, IAS, altsel etc. Hopefully others are out there! thanks.

I am having a problem with my SWS Nimitz vol 2 Deck Config .. It doe not show my aircraft as being on deck . It should show as a green symbol saying "you" . As this is missing the launch sequence is not active. The Heli shows in green when the launch heli is activated.. I have tried downloading and re installing many times but no use . Simworks Studio are of no use as I have tried a number of times to get help but their answer is " we dont support P3D since 2020" but they are still happy to sell their products as P3D 4-5 compatible.. Go figure . Anyway can anyone help Thanks

Hi fellow simmers, to set flaps I´m using a Sioc script to read the Pot value of my Flaps lever and send the corresponding Flap position to FSUIPC Offset $0BDC. Anyone out there who experiences that, when pausing P3Dv5.3 HF2 the Flaps Control Offset $0BDC is reset to 0 (zero) and consequently flaps are retracted as soon as pausing is terminated. This only applies to this offset. When using Flaps increment button command however, flaps stay in position where they are, regardless if paused or unpaused. Any hint highly appreciated. Thank you

After the release of FSCGAA's Douala more African airports have released over on Simmarket First: Harare, Zimbabwe simMarket : ZIMBABWE-HARARE INTL AIRPORT FVRG P3D4-5 Secondly: Asmara, Eritrea simMarket : ERITREA ASMARA INTL AIRPORT HHAS P3D4 And whilst they are not of the highest quality, it makes me happy seeing these African airports appear on Simmarket. Hopefully there will be more to follow, including the MAJOR missing one down in South Africa (I know there are some available)

Hi Guys I have been using Active Sky16 for FSX for a few years and recently started using Active Sky SP4 for P3D 4,5. I have noticed that when at altitudes 18000 and above the I can see the clouds drawing in, I love the hazy look but I am guessing that i have my cloud draw distance too short? ( min and max cloud draw distance 73 miles plus Max upper visibility 70 Miles). Can anyone recommend some good settings as I am not really sure how each setting works Kind regards Daz

I am looking to regain some disc space on my main, "C" drive and would like to move my Orbx Library to another SSDrive. If I do will Orbx Central still work? Will I have to reinstall my sceneries in order to have Central recognize the new location?

I have extracted orthophotos of the area that I want, but I do not know what I am supposed to do in order to build the BGL files for P3D. Can someone please help?

I just noticed my DD KSEA scenery has the default taxiway signs showing. I tried searching the DD forums but it wasn't helpful. Anyone know a fix to remove the duplicate/default signs? https://imgur.com/Up7i9lm

While using p3d -v4 i am now getting randon blue streaks and tearing across my screen. ( random ) I am running a 1080 ti card. Setting - graphics at about 75% I tried it with vsync on and off . same situation What would cause this situation typically? Peter

New install.... Tried the 777 and 747. only cockpit sound is a low roar associated with engines (but not actual engine noise) and wind. no switches, engine noise (start up, power up, etc etc). I looked in the settings in the FMC and couldn't find anything. External sound is per normal. Any ideas?

Hello boys and girls, My sim is running amazing during day flights but for night flights it's another story. What are the settings, related to nightly performance, I could adjust to get better results? Currently I'm running Dynamic Reflections Medium and AA 8xSSAA, I tried 4xMSAA and the result was a couple frames better with bad lights visuals. Maybe is the scenery?, I'm using all ORBX but Vector, TE California included, and KLAS and KLAX airports.

Hello all, Does anyone have Ernie Alston's ISG gauges working in P3D V5.3 ? They worked well in V4, but I'm not having any luck in P3DV5.3. I'm trying to use the Sky Simulations MD-11/10 - and of course the ISG gauges are a major improvement over those that ship with the models - but using the V4.4 config available off the ISG website P3D crashes instantly upon loading - and of course nothing shows up in the logs etc. to indicate what's causing it. When I revert to the default panel all is good. Any tips, suggestions, etc., will be greatly appreciated! I really want to enjoy the MD-11, but those lousy gauges (not to mention worse autopilot!) make it hard 🙂 …

Hello All, I'm a long time GA pilot recently scooped up by the local rural schoolboard to teach an Introduction to Aviation class. The school board, God bless them, bought four flight sims (Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, 3 screens, and top of the line CPUs and graphics cards for P3Dv5 Academic). I bought one years ago for my Multi-IFR tickets and only used it for that purpose (wouldn't have gotten the tickets with out it!). I've just discovered the main east/west runways at Barcelona - LEBL - have had their designations changed last Thursday. They are now 24R / 06L and 24L / 06R. 02/20 is unchanged. The heading for the ILSs are unchanged.. Irrespective of whether you have a 3rd party airport or use the stock you should change the info using ADE.

I have been using Prepar3D v5 for almost three months now and have since acquired quite a few add ons,such as all PMDG aircraft, Fslabs A 320, Maddog x, A2a Connie,B17, Bonanza, MJC Q400, and the whole ORBX global range. The last time I changed anything (both minor and major; I have not even moved a slider since) was two weeks ago, however since four days the sim is behaving very strangely and it is honestly frustrating. I am using P3D and generally don't bother with AI traffic. However I have been flying a bit online on PilotEdge and the default P3D models are let's say limited for model matching. Does anyone know if I install Orbx "FTX AU AI Traffic For Lockheed Martin Prepar3D®V5" (even though I have no interest in flying in Australia/NZ) and then set "P3D DEFAULT AI TRAFFIC", will these SimObjects be picked up for model matching when I fly online? Coming from P3D v2 upon pressing Sift + 6, I used to get the overhead panel window, this is not the case with V5.3, in fact nothing happens when I do so. Is this combination supposed to display Overhead panel like before or has something changed ? All others (sh 2, sh3, sh4 etc) are working fine other than the above and Shift + 9 which gives a black window that I don't understand. Thanks guys Maz
