I know in FSX, it was advisable to start your sim with a default aircraft so that everything loaded properly. My question is this: Do I have to start P3d with a default aircraft too, or can I use ANY aircraft in my hanger as the default start? I have been using the Baron 58 as my start, but I rarely use it for my first flight. It would be good to know that no harm will come or no performance issues will raise their head if I start with, let's say, a Carenado aircraft or something else. Stan

Can anyone comment on how well Sim720's Santa Barbara and McClellan airports work with Orbx SoCal? I know that Orbx had announced KSBA, but for now it seems to be a dead project. It would be nice to have a GA reliever airport in the San Diego area as well. With Sim720's Christmas sale these two together would be 25% off. They advertise compatibility with MSE and Orbx Global, but not the full-fat SoCal region. Orbx' compatibility forum references a patch for McClellan, but the link to it is dead. Hi all- I've been away for a while and when I flew from KTVL > KSTS last night I was getting some odd Foreflight behaviour on my iPad. Specifically, after everything was set and in the air, the blue AC on my iPad would shoot to my true GPS location (just south of KSTS) and then back to its position a few miles out of KTVL. This repeats itself. The only think I can think of is that FF somehow loses connection with the wifi network and then somehow rediscovers the signal and goes back to normal. Foreflight also does compatibility testing with new iPad OSes but this isn't really and OS specific problem. I can't find the culprit anywhere. I'm on P3D 4.1 Anyo…

I’m fortunate that I was was able to upgrade my flight sim setup to add a 4K TV. I am planning on using the 4K TV to display P3D and my normal computer monitor would be for utility tasks. Outside of P3D, I’ll do my computer work on the regular monitor. By default, P3D is opening on my main monitor. I can move it over to the TV, but the the resolution is 1920x1080, not 4K. Same issue if I clone the displays. I have Windows 10 set to “extend the desktop”. It’s not seeming to make much difference if I set either one as default. I’m P3D settings I see a GTX 1070.0 and 1070.1. I can change the resolution for each, but it seems to always display P3D on 1070.0, which is t…

With FSX people used this ground friction mod, including me with FSUIPC. Is this still needed with P3D?

Does anyone know what files/addons will be deleted if I uninstall the P3D v4.1 Content? I need to do a reinstall of the P3D v4.1 content and I don't want my Orbx scenery to be uninstalled. Thanks in advance.

What is the most efficient way, besides manually searching every folder, for finding duplicate/conflicting ".bgl" files in P3dv4? Isn't there any utilities that will automatically detect and deactivate them? Regards,

Hello all, as Monty Python suggested, I would love to see some of the major scenery developers come up with something a little different. It may not appeal to the hardcore simmers but because I've got, at least, a tiny bit of gaming in me, I think this idea would be lots of fun. Remeber the old Groom Lake mission from the FSX days? Imagine an Orbx- or Flightbeam-quality rendition of Area 51? Whereas the FSX version used a fixed script that would trigger the sole UFO sighting (at least I think it did - I'm certainly not a programmer), this version would have a control panel where the user could enter certain parameters to change the way things play out. My apologies if I should not be bringing these queries here - but I find this forum much more intuitive than the one on Fslabs website. In fact I am not finding a lot about Fslabs intuitive - their installation process is far more complicated than anything I have experienced from PMDG , Aerosoft or Orbx to name a few. Now having found out I need to run P3D in admin mode to see the A320 in the vehicle listing - I read further through the tutorial and headed over to the Fslabs website to the link they gave to download liveries. Having purchased the great aircraft less than 2 years ago II now see they are charging FULL PRICE for the P3D v4 . Enought is enough. I will continue to deal with those commerical companies that treat us frairly and honestly and not just a source of revenu. I recently have been changing some settings with my display and graphics and have been starting to notice that when panning inside the VC, I get little streaking lines. I've read about tearing so I am assuming that this is what I am seeing. This is a very broad question, but do you know what could be causing this? It isn't a real game breaker for me but I'd like to fix it if possible. My PC specs are below. Let me know if there is any other useful information that I can provide. I have an interesting dilemma. In an attempt to stop AI planes from landing at DD's KBFI I deleted KBFI from MyTraffic6 scenery file. I attempted to it shut off by turning the BGL file to off or passive. However, I kept getting a DAT error when I started the sim which told me to delete the file. So even though the MT6 file is gone I still have cargo planes landing at the airport one of which is placed over the top of a static plane. How is this possible? I am using P3Dv4.1 Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My world is upside down. I've spent 2 decades or more flying with joystick of some kind. Today I installed a yoke. I feel totally disoriented. I took the default Beechcraft up and it took me 3 tries to get back on the ground and not run out of runway. To make matters worse, I kept trying to negotiate taxi ways via the steering wheel (those are prevalent in a race car). I'm sure that tomorrow I shall conquer the changeover, but the difference is so.....weird. Once I do get used to it, I think I'll install a joystick in my racing sim and try that.

Hey guys, Just finished a flight and noticed when I was at the airport something wasn't quite right, this got me thinking back to when I took off that when I turned my landing lights on it was unrealistically bright. I am new to P3D and I have no idea what could be causing this. I have attached a screenshot of myself at Aerosofts Mallorca Evolution to display what I am experiencing. Hi boys! I'm a new member, a passionate simmer who read your always interesting posts since he was a child. First of all, my congratulations for the wonderful site. I'd like to know if you would have some suggestions on which payware to choose: I was looking for a six-seats well simulated aircraft (preferably on the level of PMDG, A2A, etc.) with modern avionics, like G1000 or something similar. Single, twin or multi engines.. Pistons, turboprops, turbofans... All these options could be good for me. Any advice? Thanks to all in advance.

Currently my specs are below. I fly FSlabs and PMDG planes in the US with lots of payware airports, AS16 and Orbx. I am looking to upgrade my system a bit but being a novice, I am not sure what to get to see the biggest improvements. I am looking for a tad more fluidity to my simming experience. Being not too technical, I am not sure if there is anything that I can add to get a better experience than what I am having now (although I am relatively happy with how I am set up). Im using P3D, and I've noticed that the FPS or performance of just the Flight 1 GTN 750 is super sloww. Not the sim itself, I get high frames everywhere, its the actual GPS that is super laggy when flipping pages or entering info. Anyone else get low performance in the 750? Also with the GTN650, pressing the knob to change from Comm to Nav frequency does not work. How can I enter nav frequencies with the 650? Thanks

Hello guys, I have a huge problem. I have both prepar3d v3 and FSX. I enjoyed both of them for a long time. Then i updated windows 10 to the latest version. It seems to mess up my prepar3d. I tried everything and reset my windows. I thought it would fix my problem but no luck. And the worst thing is i can't go back to the old windows version because i reset it. My problem is blurry terrain at the distaance and autogen popping. Tried; Different autogen settings, different LOD distance settings, HT on off, frame rate limiter and affinity mask settings. Both FSX and P3D have the same symptoms. I realized that my CPU usage was absurd. Usually core 0 at 1…
