I'm returning to flight simming after nearly a decade away and I'm about to download P3D v5 for the very first time. I'm more of a commercial sim pilot and I'd be really interested to know what everyone thinks are the essential add ons (scenery, aircraft, weather, enhancements etc)... Ben

Does this happen to everybody? When I switch between cockpit view and outside view I often have to wait 5-10 seconds for fuselage/cockpit textures to finish loading. Just starting at black panels or a plane skeleton in the meantime. I never got it this bad in v4.5. I can live with it, it just seems odd it’s much worse in 5. i9-9900k, rtx 2089ti. My frame rate is perfectly fine and smooth and my vram isn’t close to max either. It just happens all the time. It’s almost like the loading gets stuck for a moment. If I quickly switch back in and out again, it’s suddenly fully loaded.

I tried to run a weather radar on pmdg777 using a file from pmdg747 where the weather radar could work on p3dv5, but it failed. do you know any way? I would like to run pmdg777 weather radar directly on p3dv5. : I have active sky !! :):) Have a nice day!

had not had an issue with CTD in v5 until today. started playing around with nvidia settings and in game graphics settings and developed an issue that if i load up the game with the default aircraft in windowed mode, as soon as i try to switch to full screen mode i get an either an immediate CTD, screen freeze or the diax error box. i have tried to reset my nvidia settings and have deleted my p3d config file but still have the issue with trying to switch to full screen mode. any idea what causes a problem with full-screen? thanks in advance

How do you install P3Dv4.5 to a different drive to your OS?

Darren and Vikki from Earth Simulations, who sadly ceased trading at the beginning of the year, are unfortunately now not contactable at all. Consequently, it is impossible to find out any information about use of scenery in v3, and there will be no further support or installers created. As (ex!) beta testers for Earth Simulations, both Christopher Low and I are in possession of manual install versions of I think all Earth Simulations scenery. What I would like to do, should there be no objections from AVSIM mods, is to see if we can produce an easy set of instructions to follow to manually set up the ES scenery in a v3 compliant fashion, so that people can continu…

Hi! I have really been struggling to get my head around this. I have tried the other posts but cant find anything that works. This is really annoying me. My specs are Intel I9 - 9900K @4.9ghz 32GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super (8GB dedicated graphics memory) I mean, with these specs I really dont think I should be having these problems. I also have a problem that the Enhanced Atmospheric checkbox keeps getting unchecked all the time. Not sure if that is related to the vram issue. Below is my settings.

I have been watching youtube videos of folks flying in v4 and v5 and the cockpit looks amazing, specifically the gauge panel. However when I play using, say, the Mooney they look horrible. Not near as detailed and rather on the cheap'o side. Is this an issue with the stock aircraft or are they using purchased aircraft? Just curious since I'm trying to decide which direction to go simming wise. I have xplane, P3D v4 and v5 right now so I'm trying to decide if I want to go VR or multiple monitors. In either case, right now they look equally bad on both so I'm just looking for some answers to help narrow my decision. Thanks in advance for any help!

Over the last 3 days, I thought about a simple experiment to see if performance would change if I changed my video input. I normally use HDMI on my 4k Lg 27" monitor and I've always been very pleased with the resolution and the performance. With P3dv5, there have been many posts in this forum regarding using FFTF and tweaking frames from 30 to unlimited and adjusting all the sliders one way or another. I do own FFTF Dynamic and I've been one of the simmers playing with its various settings (for which you need an academic course to fully understand all the possibilities of using it) to try to achieve the "Eureka moment". Hi all! I own both Prepar3D versions 5 and 4 but I'm getting all kinds of issues with v5 and would like to go back to 4.5. However, there are reasons why I'm interested in keeping V5 scenery instead of the outdated world that comes with 4.5. Long shot question, then: are there any technical issues / restrictions / compatibility problems that you know of would break 4.5 if I use the scenery that came with 5? Thanks for your help!. -E

Hey guys....when I try to update ORBX object flow it says that my terrain.cfg file is missing or is corrupt.....I checked and it's not missing, how do I know if is corrupt? Can I download that separately...? Not sure how to attach here to be checked.... Thanks

Hello, someone please for help and advise how to fix a problem with the Sim. 1. Have my own profile in settings and most of the times the profile settings change with no reason to Default. 2. control settings have already exported both a) control settings and b) axis controls. many times the axis get lost with no reason. have axis alignment for a) Rudder Petals b) control yoke c) Throttle Quadrant Can someone please, if there is a possibility to resolve those issues, to help me? I am running my sim on a large 55" 4K TV and would like to know how I can set P3D to run in Window mode at a specific resolution? I'd like to have it running at 2560x1440 as a window so that I can use my left over space for other apps like my flight planner or have my browser open. Also would running P3D in a lower resolution window vs at 4k fullscreen give the sim better performance this way?

Hi, I installed P3DV5 next to a installation of P3Dv4.5. Everything works okay but Vpilot doesn't see FLAI aircraft in P3Dv5 (in v4.5 that works okay). In vPilot settings\modelmatching\advanced i see in P3Dv4.5 there is a path to AppData\\Roaming\\FLAI\\SimObjects\\Airplanes. (and to UT live, Sode etc.) In vPilot settings\modelmatching\advanced i see in P3Dv5 there is not such a path (only a few path to other directory's (Sode etc) I tink this is causing aircraft not showing in the right model when using vPilot in P3Dv5. My question is: how can i add this path to the Flai aircraft (AppData\\Roaming\\FLAI\\SimObjects\\Airplanes) ? (i alr…

Hi All I have updated my Prepar3d to 4.5.14.34698. However after doing this whilst flying PMDG 747-400, even when only increasing the Simulation rate up to x 2 the aircraft was acting erratically. And having trouble holding altitude, like it used to if I increased the rate to x 16. I used to be able to hold simulation rate comfortably at x 8. Now the keyboard command to increase the rate wont work at all. The command was always R + plus or Minus to increase or decrease the rate. I have gone into settings and re assigned the key, with no success. When I apply this key command in the cockpit, all that happens is I zoom forward or backwards from th…

Forgive my ignorance on this, but the VRAM readout, when pressing Shift Z, shows two readings such as 3.3/6.7. What are the two readings? The 6.7 reading stays constant but the first reading varies. I have a GTX 1080 card with 8G memory. So far I haven't had any VRAM problems. Thanks for any info. Jim

I have ORBX PNW and most ORBX airports of this area installed. When I fly with my A2A C172 in the extended Seattle area I have a great chance for CTD. I've tried with moderate settings (vRAM<5GB), with and without ai traffic, with and without DrzewieckyDesign SeattleX, with and without TruesSky, with and without F1GTN750, .... Is there anybody in this round who can fly a C172 (A2A) over ORBX PNW in Seattle area without experiencing a CTD here and then? If yes (means no CTD), please could you provide your settings?

I have just installed V5 and would like to copy my V4 Commands to V5 as I have changed the original V4 control commands settings since I installed V4. Can anyone suggest a quick and easy way to do this? I have both v4 and v5 on the same PC but don't know where to find the controls in a transportable file.
