  4. The Grumman Widgeon (?) in several ORBX fields galleries. Does anyone know whose model it is and if it's for sale? or downloadable? The only Widgeon I can find is an old FS9 model and that has different engines and a different paint job. Any info helpful. Cheers Geoff.

When I add fscopilot to dll.xml, I receive the message Wrong FS version=100. I suspect it's the simconnect level, but I'm not sure. I looked at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Bide\FSFDT\FSCopilot\SimConnect\1.7 and added a couple of doublewords that I thought were the right simconnect version, but no luck. Is there an alpha geek among us that can try to make it work? I can use SB4 with VATSIM, but I want to use P3D on a club FSD server.

  6. Perhaps its an oversite. But I just tried the NZ screenshot contest entry over at Orbx and found that as forum banned person I can not participate even though I am a card carrying member of NZ scenery. NMNTBS.I don't suppose I would win anyway because they would know if your banned from their forums so would probably turf your entry.

Hi Everyone,Since switching over to P3D, do you know if anyone's tested various video drivers to see what may or may-not perform better with P3D?. Just wondering if there is a particular (version) video driver that P3D seems to like as far as performance is concerned. Also, I know that video manufacturers do not want to support FSX as far as video driver updates are concerned, but I wonder if they would consider optimizing their drivers to support P3D?.Thanks

My homemade photo scenery (Western Pennsylvania, USA) looks much better than it did in FSX. The color level is less (saturation). Also, the green color is reduced. Most of the color stuff I used appeard to be done by agriculture departments and emphasized green. Now the color balance is better and rather than just real outlines the colors look more correct. Also, it does not hurt getting 112fps since there are no buildings or Autogen to render on photos.Windows7, 8400 DualCore 3ghz, nVidia 240gt 512mb

Does PREPAR3D utilize the GPU when Im using AA a little better, I hate shimmering and cannot get rid of it in FSX without killing my FPS. I thinking of taking the PP3D plunge and seeing it it offers something better in terms of picture and performance! Also I have these addons and would like to use them in PP3DUTXGEXUT2REX (REX Essential will make it work with PP3D)737NGX (think that works, but with no support I assume)Cheers

When you purchase the PNW SBSL, does that also cover any airports you have purchased too? I ask because I did not see any SBSL's for the add-on airports, unless I just missed it somehow. Also, has anyone seen any issues with ORBX and the new P3D v1.3?RegardsBob

Yesterday I downloaded and installed the new Orbx scenery for FSX, Swanson 2W3 airport. I tried my Dreamteam GSX program but it would not work. Got the error message seen below.and after the installation I tried my GSX and it did NOT work but I was given this error message:(See below.) I tried the Auto update and the "Stand Alone Download Manager" and nothing would make it (GSX) work. After this my FSX would NOT boot-up and I had to go back to 3 earlier "Restore Points" to get my FSX to boot-up, but the GSX at the new Swanson airport still would not work. Got same error message. I don't know what elese to do . Did anyone else have this problem and/or know how to fix it. M…

  16. Ok, just getting my feet wet and installed the Baytower into a dummy folder. It created all the folders. Then I merged these into P3D, but I get an error and shutdown of P3D. Then I noticed there was no trusted section in the p3d.cfg file. Was thinking that might be the problem but it could not be because no other gauge files etc are there for the stock aircraft.Anyone using the RV yet?Anyone have any ideas on what I could try?Why no [trusted] section? Does P3D just load the dll's regardless of trust?edit: I double checked the files from FSX and everything seems to be in the proper place. What could it be I wonder. The error was panel.dll or something from p3d.ThanksBob

  17. I never knew exactly why nvidia was a better performer than ati in the gpu space for FSX but recently I found someone state that ati never kept up with the shadermodel 2 and this is a reason. I see that prepar3d is Shader model 3. Is ATI still the poorer cousin in prepar3d, does anyone know? Thanks,JAson

Hi, I read somewhere that that there were some issues using TM's HOTAS Warthog with Prepar3D. Anybody using the HOTAS Warthog with Prepar3D can confirm or deny this. I would love to try Prepar3D but, not being able to use the Warthog would be a deal breaker for me.Thanks in advance,CucoSan Juan, PR

Hi all, anyone having a performance hit in Prepar3D with FSDT scenery. FSX gives me about 20fps around KLAX with the SB2600K and all the slides maxed out day or night and UT2/UT/REX/GEX installed. However with Prepar3D in day I get 7fps but jumps to 22fps at night with the said add-ons. (using stock Mooney aircraft)I like Prepar3d for the major stability improvement running in full screen mode and 3 X monitors, also the night lighting is simply stunning. I've noticed no other major improvements between the two SIMS however I did have FSX tweaked well. For me FSX was great but would crash mid-flight on a long haul. I'm of the belief that most of today’s FSX tweaks are alrea…

Guys, I had a flight, over Melbourne ( Orbx AU blue ), with an 3rd party aircraft. Tried normal and dense scenery settings, and see no difference on FPS. I assume this is a good thing as in FSX, with same aircraft and scenery, I would lose around 10 FPS with dense over normal. Or, is something wrong with P3D scenery settings...

The throttle works but to get full power i always have to press f4. and when taking the throttle fully back there still is a little power on the airplane throttle so that i have to press f1 to get to idle.Any ideas on that ?Thanks a lot,Carsten

  23. Fellow AVSIM Readers,Since FSX was released, we in the community have asked and begged for a simulation who's developers listen to its users and is actively developed with input from the community. We now have that, in the form of Prepar3D.For a modest $49.95, you can obtain an educational license that is usable for "educational efforts at or below the undergraduate level", which applies to not only university or college students, but those educating themselves about flying aircraft, whether that be someone who already has a private pilot's license or someone who may or may not be pursuing that goal.I read posts from folks on this forum that seem to want to dissuade peopl…

A few issues I've noticed :- Advanced weather settings : blue skies whatever you set- Pink snow. Aimé Leclerc of trees and textures fame tried to solve the issue by modifying the textures in 1.2 but no way. Probably caused by the new v3.0 shaders. Same problem in 1.3. By the way, did you know that the ground textures are exactly the same as the ones that come with FSX ?- On my setup, (your mileage may vary), the need to recalibrate joystick and rudder pedals everytime I exit a menu or change my location.
