This is just a thank you to AVSIM for providing this venue from a long time Orbx product user. I hope that it proves useful moving forward, particularly for members who are unable to use the Orbx forums at this time and receive support for their licenced products.

Despite the good results I have some minor problems in P3D and discovered a new one. After downloading P3D, I gladly made a ghost image first before installing it on my dedicated FS disk with her own OS.Everything looked good so I decided to put my second license on my test system where I also have a FSX test environment. I uninstalled the First license but after that I received a lot of MSVCR80.dll errors in FSX and application crashes. I checked the scenery and tried to reproduce it on my test system and at exact the same position I’ll get the MSVCR80.dll error in FSX and at the exact position in P3D a MSVCR100.DLL error. After a ghost image restore of my dedicated FS d…

Just in the process of deciding whether to get prepar3d and had a question about whether it works with track ir. I have the latest TrackIR software v5 and I think I noticed it has a profile for prepar 3d.However I have discovered a number of posts saying it doesnt work however their is a work around that requires you to buy some software called ezdok!Does it really work or do you need to use the workaround?http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=492

Hey everyone,I decided to run FSXmark11 in P3D and in FSX to see the performance comparison.P3D averaged 41.87FPSFSX averaged 37.977FPSSo far, frames are slightly better but for the most part, I think the "giant jump in FPS" that people talk about is nearly just placebo. I only saw just over a 10% increase in P3D over FSX.Only time will tell what P3D v2 will implement into the core engine to offload the job of the CPU and put the GPU back to work again.

1. Every time I shut P3 down, it restarts. I then have to use Task Manager to end the process.2. Although I have installed Peter Howson's latest version of FSUIPC - and the installer tells me it has been successfully installed into P3 - I am told on P3 start-up that it cannot find FSUIPC. Has anyone encountered this problem?3. I used the FSTweaks utility to create a changed path, so that FSX pointed programmes could be put into P3 but they still have instruments that don't work, rotary switches that turn and but do not change the indications. or move the pointer on an instrument.4 And my ProFlight Yoke System works fine except for the elevator axis - which calibrates …

To the Developers of Prepar3d,If this has been addressed earlier, my apologies and please direct me to the appropriate.thread.I have been flying in the military and commercially for over 40 years. Needless to say I have spent my fair share of time in simulators startinig with the Link. My current home based PC based simulator is FSX with ASE and FSUIPC to eliminate some of the weather anomolies. FSX is enjoyable and I have found some of the add-ons to be very good. What I am looking for in a PC based simulator is a good flight model and a good weather model. I hear complaints about the FSX flight model, but it is better than some of the DC10 and B747 simulators I flew…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-2cGtlmCCUI posted the same video on the PMDG forum. I read somewhere that one person was sure there was difference betweeb FSX and P3D in terms of FDE interpretation, and it gave different results on both sims. That doesn't seem to be the case flying the PMDG 737NGX, that's why I made that video. I will try testing other smaller aircraft to see if I can notice something

I wonder what you all think about using FSX addons in P3D and how various developers are handling this. Most FSX addons (planes, scenery) can be used in P3D without any problems other then that you have to manually move some files around. Some developers are supporting P3D for free: they simply don't mind if you use their addons in FSX. Other go the extra mile and even release installers (for free) that enable you to install their products in P3D without having to manually edit stuff! On the other side are developers who want you to pay (afaik now usually a small amount) for using their addons in P3D otherwise you are breaching the EULA and acting illegaly, resulting (I gues…

I'm not so familiar with squawkbox because I'm used with FSInn but have installed SB4, and edit the DLL.xml file so it is in the taskbar in P3D but hitting the SB4 startup button, nothing appears.I can manually start SB4 and it's working ok BUT in my VC there is no overlay with a SB4 bar. I have to go to P3D windowed mode and have to put SB4 above it with the problem that I have to switch between P3D and SB4 that puts P3D in pause mode... Not so fine when flying...Who can tell me how to handle....Thx.

In both P3d and FSX, there is an option in the scenery library to clear scenery cache on exit (or something like that). What is this for, and should it be checked or unchecked?Rob

Wow!FSIIFSIIIFS2004FS9FSXAll of those simulators and I've never been as happy as I'm with Prepar3d. The best part, no "cfg" tweaks at all with the following sceneries added:UTXGEXMegascenery: Norcal, SoCal, Vero NorCal, Reno, Hawaii, PhoenixThis is nuts. Crisp textures, color is awesome (read somewhere they tweaked the colors) and enjoying the sim. I would not call this FSX. I'll post some comparison screenshots tonight. FPS are waay up.Hat offs!Tim

Has anyone downloaded P3D in the last few days?I am attempting to reinstall it after removing it and deleting the installation files. When attempting to download it repeatedly fails, and after failing-then-resuming multiple times for the same .zip file it is corrupt upon trying to extract it.If anyone has successfully downloaded and installed it in the last week, what program did you use to download it and what compression program did you use to unzip/extract it?

I just downloaded and installed Prepar3D today and so far have been unable to install FSUIPC into Prepar3D. I have tried V4.70, V4.70b, V4.728 and nothing will install. I am installing as administrator. While installing I have received a message saying there is a problem with this version of 3D and then it says it installed correctly. There is no Modules folder so it appears FSUIPC isn't even getting started in the instl.Prepar3D does run as loaded.Any thoughts would be appreciated.Tom Hibben

No, I have nothing to say about the EULA right now, but I noticed LOTS of topics (even on other subforums) that mention P3D turn into a discussion about the EULA and if we are allowed to use P3D even though we don't really develop anything. So I decided to start this topic and 1. maybe everyone who wants to say something about the EULA would be so kind to do it here and 2. maybe the mods can mod discussions elsewhere into this topic, so that we are DONE with it in other topics... Thanks in advance, all!!! :(

I'm defiantly looking at the future with FSX and realizing that it is with P3D. I am willing to spen the $500 on it as well. To me this isnt and expense but an investment. My #1 problem in FSX is the random crashes with the sim the g3d.dll, application hangs, and the CTD that are unknown? Does P3D suffer from these as much or at all? FSX has been abandond by Microsoft since SP2 whereas P3D still has the support of L.M. I'm not to concerned about the FPS issue but the overall stability of the P3D platform. What are you guys seeing here. I would get the $9.99 monthly subscription but I am not home enough to really have time to test it. That's why I need your input on what y…

I was wrong, and I admit it. Software problems still stand, but the performance is nothing short of amazing. IF I'm not doing anything wrong. And yes, same Nvidia Inspector profile is being used, both applications are under the FSX profile. I took some time to review the performance, now installed vanilla FSX with SP2 (don't worry, my original FSX is backed up, safe and tucked in the backup folder). P3D with the same settings. Here are some results and screenshots of the same situations in FSX and P3D. Settings comparison: Screenshots comparisons: Please note, in these screenshots there are FPS numbers, though not completely realistic due to simulator being paused. And so…
