For any NGX Alaska ETOPS pilots among us, Alaska has been approved for the APU On Demand program (APUOD). This means you are no longher required to operate the APU while in the ETOPS operations area for AS flights. Please note: you are still required to have an operational APU for ETOPS operations (cannot be on MEL). There are other elements to the program such as the APU continuous run status, used for an APU thats coming off of an MEL which requires cold soaked starts to be logged...etc...etc.. but for NGX use, this should do. Fly safe!

I bought the NGX in February and discovered that it came with SP1c installed. Was this an accident? Should I download the new SP1c? Thanks

It's great having so many buttons and levers to press and throw. But a simple thing like saving the fllight plan has me stumped. After filling out the route legs and returning to the main RTE screen a SAVE button appears that on my system changes to CONFIRM and nothing happens. Thought it might be the EXEC button next, no this doesn't do anything either. Hope someone can help. Also in MENU/pmdg setup/ there is a STATE SAVE, what is this? Regards Mike.

The 600 and 700 fly beautifully in all phases of flight. But the 800 is a beast that doesn't want to slow down. Above FL100 I can set about 280 knot speed and get a good descent rate. But when I need to limit my speed to 250 or below, I just can't keep her slowed down enough to get a good descent rate. Any tips? Do you slow down to around 200-220 and set flaps 1? Do you go with the airbrakes a lot? Thanks David Simpson

I have recently installed an Aerosoft download called "Approaching Innsbruck" , its really help me enjoy the "real world" feeling that FSX default fails to deliver. It cost me around US $25 ------- the magnificent PMDG tutorial 2 flight is much easier to hand fly on the Rwy 08 approach as the low terrain detail is much more " user friendly" than Microsofts offering. Tabs gave me info. about this download and I am glad that I took the advice that he gave me. Guys the add on makes a great flight into an even better one. Ray griffiths.

I posted these in the FS2Crew NGX/voice forum. You may find them useful. They are fully text searchable PDFs, which is very handy for the longer doc. Flows, Side by Side Lists the Cap't and FO flows on facing pages, easy to see what the other is doing, as you are stepping through your own flows. Checklist Card Quick reference, fold in-half card, kneeboard size. Detailed Checklists and Commands Captured from the original documentation, but fully text searchable. No "graphical text", that will hide from a text search. * Orest

Hey guys, So I am having a problem with the NGX. It seems whenever the winds are not constant, for example blowing at 270/30 but not staying at 30 knotts cycling between 30-35 knotts for example, the NGX has real trouble staying on course. I have the wind smoothing selected in FSUIPC. I am using REX Essentials. Any idea how to fix it? Kind Regards, Dan

Hello Captains, I'm in the process of inputting route data into FMC but I keep getting stuck at the initial entries. I'm using CYYZ RWY 24L LEST7 SID. I've loaded my aircraft with fuel cargo etc and now at Route Page 2. It appears like this: RTE VIA TO LEST7 (Vectors) The SID: Climb hdg 237. At 1.6 DME turn left heading 235 or assigned hdg for vectors to assigned route. Maintain 5000 asl. What I want to do is fly the J522 to KLOPS (KLOPS is a turn back to 106 degree…

Hi guys, Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but everyone has been most helpful in previous topics so here goes nothing. I'm trying to improve my reading and understanding of STAR and approach charts and having realised that airlines are more or less vectored onto the ILS instead of just programming the FMC. Using EGGP Liverpool as an example I'm now wanting to try and decipher what kind of approach a RW airline would fly. After some study I've noticed a lot of holds in these charts. I've never used holds but as I'm getting more to grips with the NGX I'm wanting to incorporate these into my flying. Here are the charts: http://www.ead.eur…

Okay, I'm confused on how to do them. Yesterday at about 7PM central time, I started my NGX with the GOL 737-800 livery at KBFI (Boeing Field) to do a simulated delivery flight from Seattle to Rio De Janeiro. I went on Rfinder to find a route, and it went on the FMC perfectly. I went on the payload page and put Empty, then I went on the fuel page and put Full. I left my Center Tank on the entire time, but I did not Cross-Feed. Okay, so I departed then reached my cruising altitude of FL380 (I changed it to FL400 later) and went to sleep. Today at about 7AM central time, I woke up and found my NGX flying over Manaus FIR, which means I'm already in Brazil. However, I had…

Hi Guys, I've been doing plenty of reading on approaches today and I'm currently a little bit in the dark over ILS approaches and their categories. I understand that the category is determined via the equipment both on the ground and in the aircraft and the pilots training, but what I'm not sure about is the practical differences between the three categories (I know there's more than 3 but I'm simplifying). When for example does a Category I approach become a CAT II (assuming that the hardware on the ground and plane is CATIII)? Is it only weather/visibilty influenced or are there other factors?? And in terms of flying the actual aircraft, how does a CAT …

Hello I think this is my first topic so excuse any mistake. I have the NGX and recently bought a new computer which ran perfectly i7 2.2Ghz, 8GB ram and Nivedia Ge-force 540m 2GB I fly fsx on high settings However I used to use full screen in the old computer and it ran perfectly but now in the new computer weird stuff would happen every time I minimize or maximize (Cockpit Disappears, screen stays black, airplane only appears and nothing around it all balack but the plane)....So I decided to use Window mode but now this happens with the First NGX flight in window mode http://i50.tinypic.com/3hul4.jpg Any Ideas why does this happen and How can I solve it Thank y…

I have seen on some videos that LNAV seems to be armed when an ILS is being flown. Here's an example video, .At 11:35, the captain and FO talk about LNAV being armed, and you can see LNAV in white on the FMA. Is this a customer option on the NG, or is there something specific required to be done to get LNAV to arm so that it will re-engage in case of a go-around?

Dear performance experts, Finally decided I probably need a dedicated PC for 737NGX ... Can't be doing with any more greyouts and OOMs and freezes on short final, ages while FSX boots, performance limitations and no room for advanced scenery. I am no technie and frankly can't get into building my own kit .. and it needs to a laptop for domestic reasons (!). So, if I wanted to add the best of everything: online weather, the heaviest worldwide scenery and airports, FS2Crew, Radar Contact, joysticks ... and all the stuff I don't even know about yet, and still achieve great in-flight and visual performance, what's the best off-shelf Windows laptop for the job? …

Since i installed sp1c, i have problems during departure procedure. I m sure my computer is strong enough, the problem is 737NGX ! During departure, my fps drop down, for no reason, i tried so many airport, maybe not a scenery issue. I just try a take off from CYYZ, and fps drop down again ... i canceled my flight and start up again (no fmc programmation, take off in rush ), and it works perfectly. That s issue appears randomly, i don t know why. Can you help me ? Thanks

Hi there, This request is not 737NGX related however as the issue is sooo annoying whilst flying the 737NGX or indeed any aircraft within FSX, I gratefully request your help. Here goes: I'd be really grateful for those with the acceleration version of FSX to carry out a quick experiment for me; the purpose of which should definitively determine whether your version is free from the cloud draw issue I frequently experience with the SP2 version. Here is a brief synopsis of the issue: When I'm flying in and out of clouds in FSX, it is incredibly annoying and highly unrealistic to clearly see clouds in the distance whilst in a cloud. Furthermore, I frequen…
