I have 2 SSD's and have a lot of thoughts about configuration swimming in my head. Can the PMDG be on a separate drive to FSX?

Hello All, I was going through the QRH this morning, and several of the non-normal procedures mention "Deferred Items" for a checklist. For example, on the One Engine Inoperative Landing procedure, step 5 lists "Checklist complete except deferred items." Then it goes on to show the deferred items. My questions: what exactly are the deferred items? Are they deferred to a later time? If so, when? Are they removed from the checklist altogether? That wouldn't seem to make sense since items like "Autobrake" and "Approach Briefing" are on there...definitely necessary items. Any help is much appreciated!

I would like to use VC mode for the forward view and and the same time display some 2d panels/instruments like the PFD on a secondary monitor. I've been using this kind of setup with several a/c:s over the years but I can't get this to work as I want with the NGX (SP1C). The problem can be easily reproduced by being in Virtual Cockpit mode and activating the main 2d panel (shift+1). The 2d panel pops up but it's just a static image, the instruments don't get updated. When switching to regular Cockpit mode (2d), the instruments on the 2d panel comes alive and it works as expected. When switching back to VC mode, the instruments on the 2d panel immediately freezes and s…

Good evening, I'm having some performance issues while running the 737NGX in VC. I'll give you the most details as I can so you can really understand the problem. My system specs first (it's a brand new PC): -Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V -CPU: I7-2600K @3.4 Ghz -GPU: Gainward GTX570 -RAM: Gskill 8GB (4+4 Dual channel) -System SSD: Corsair Force GT 60GB -HDD where FSX is stored: WD 1TB -Power Supply: Corsair 850W The only addon I've been running with the 737NGX is REX 2.0. I've played the first PMDG tutorial with low traffic and clear skies and during the flight I've experienced very low FPS in VC, in a range from 13 to 22, with occasional peaks of 30 (I have set 30 FPS …

I have modified the Official 737NGX 738 painkit to make a cargo only version, I have made the following changes - deselected windows/frames in psd - added cargo door outline - edited window alpha channel to show lighting in overwing escape door and not usual window profiles. I have not altered the fde, mdl or cfg files in anyway. I have tried to ask permission by way of the PMDG website but cannot find an appropriate link and for some reason, although a registered and licenced user my account won't verify. I have posted several freeware repaints of the 737NGX on various sites and would like to do cargo variants using my modified painkit. The modified pa…

Hi Guys I only have this problem with the NGX. I set up flight with fuel and payload, I set the elevator trim, such as 5.1%. When i get to a speed of V1 etc for take off, I pull back on full elevator but do not get any lift for say another 700 feet of runway and another 30 knots of speed. Any ideas to my problem? I think my NGX is not giving me ample elevator up deflection for lift. Thanks for any advice Bob

Hey guys, Lastly I was looking around for a tool which would let me calculate the ISA temperature deviation to input into the DES FORECAST page of the FMC, but I couldn't find any. I decided to create my own excel sheet, which you can download here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3680035/ISA.xlsx What I do is the following procedure, and I would like to get that validated by you guys, preferably by someone with real life experience in that domain. I perofrm this procedure between 100nm and 50nm or so prior to TOD: 1) I bring up the aloft wind data for my flight plan in Active Sky 2012 2) I bring up the FMS LEGS page, and choose 3 waypoints for which the VNAV cal…

Saw in a real life video of the 737ng the other day that the cockpit had announcements when entering a runway and thought it would be cool to have that in the sim. I stumbled on to this freeware software and it's really good! It can be found here: http://community.vatsim-uk.co.uk/topic/25710-free-runway-awareness-and-advisory-system-for-fs/ Enjoy, Dan

The VC of this aircraft gives me a huge frame rate hit and I was wondering some good ways to get some back because I really don't like to use the 2D panel. I used the Performance Manager and put everything on low resolution. What others ways are there to get better performance.

When I follow the Manual's "Setting FSX Set Up for the PMDG 737NGX" I'm able to fly for something line 10 minutes before achieving a message that the computer has run out of Memory. When I reduce the settings to a less intensive level I receive that same message after one to two hours and usually when attempting to land. If I had a low end computer I'd understand but is that indeed the case? The specs are below: i Mac 27 inch, Mid 2011 Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53) Is there a simple solution to the problem? Hello all, just a small query. In the NGX intro docs is mentioned that the pushback urtility included as a part of the fmc functionalities is a provisional one used to cover until a better tailored one was being developed. Just wondering if anybody knew about any news in this sense? Thank you! Matteo Capocefalo (MED1473)

Hi everyone, before embarking on a trip in the NGX, I like to read up on the rules and regulations of the airports I frequent. One of the most important rules to learn about is Noise Abatement Procedures, but the problem is this information can be hard to find, or is nonexistent, on the charts a hobbyist has access to. I have found a nice site that lists general Noise Abatement procedures for not just U.S. airports, but all of the world! http://www.boeing.com/commercial/noise/list.html I'm sure some of the seasoned pro's already know about this list, but I have been around for a while and have only just learned about this. I hope others will find this si…

Hello Captains, Not sure if this is the proper place to put this out there, as it's clear that it's not related to the NG, but I had asked the question in an earlier thread, so hoping this may help someone else who may experience the same issue. I believe I have solved my issue with FSX not seeing my pedals and yoke on startup. I have a 7 port powered D-Link hub. FSX was seeing my throttle but not pedals and yoke, so I would have to physically unplug and plug back in the pedals and yoke in order for FSX to see them. It was simply a matter of plugging each one into a different port. Now after moving them to different slots, they seem to be active on startup. Just…

I was just doing an approach into ENGM, but this has happened on other airports too. After intercepting localizer, I intercept G/S, all on AP. Then I disconnect the AP, for manual control to touchdown. HGS is down. On the ball. Some 30seconds to 2min prior to touchdown (been different for different airports), I lose the guidance in the HGS, HGS displaying NO AIII, and all I can do is a visual. Note: I did not deviate from the G/S much, or actually not at all. Both FD are on, both NAV radios set, both CRS on ILS course... Funnily, ILS remains on the GS I think, so I can use that. But HGS doesn't display the correct information any more. Been some time that I've r…

Okay, when I go on FlightAware and look up a route, the cruising speeds always seem incredibly high. For example, AAL1607 here: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/AAL1607 It says they are cruising at 481 knots. Where do I input this information on the FMC? It can't be the CRZ page, because when I put 481, it says INVALID ENTRY or sometimes MAX 340 or something like that. I'm a little confused on this section.

I've downloaded Service Pack 1c but I've obviously done something wrong (possibly saved instead of run) and the update application is now sitting in my documents folder. It won't run as it can't find the MSFS installation directory and doesn't give me an option to point to the correct path - how do I manually navigate the installer so it loads correctly. MSFS (& B737 NGX) is in the Program Files x86. Thanks in anticipation. Chris

Hi guys, I'm enjoying the PMDG 737 NGX since the first hour. But since a few flights I got a very annoying problem. When I'm crusing everything is fine, until some sounds makes a annoying 'beep-beep-beep' sound. I checked everything and I think the best I can do is post pictures of it: This is a picture of the upper overhead. My master caution panel says in orange: OVERHEAD Then, when I cut the sound off by clicking on the ALT HORN cutout (http://www.b737.org..../dcpcspanel.jpg) everything seems fine, except the PASS OXY ON warning on the first picture. After several minutes the same 'warning' happens, only this time without sound (because I ignored it l…
