The big screen, under the altimeter at the pilot side (not sure what the name is), stays black. If I read the tutorial right, it must function (refered as moving map)I can only click the range buttons, but the screen stays black. How to turn it on?Martin

The PMDG product page for the J41 mentions: FSX Acceleration includes SP2, but I seem to remember statements by some that it could make a difference whether one has SP2 installed or Acceleration.I assume the product will work with both but wanted to confirm first.Cheers,Siggy

Hi there,I'm very interested in buying the J41, but I would like to know before buying it how it compares FPS-wise with the LDS 767 in FSX. Can anyone give me a indication of the FPS in the J41 (with normal resolution and high resolution instruments) compared to the FSX LDS 767?Thanks,Justin

In the MD-11, it had a section for refueling and doors programed in the FMC for convenience but does the J41 have this? I am trying to sell some stuff so I can buy the J41 and I just wanted to know if the J41 had some awesome in genius features like the MD11 had.Taylor Oldham

After a failed hot engine start where the EGT is stuck up around 600 or 700 degrees, is there a method by which you can cool the engine back down below 200 degree for another start attempt? Without having to reload the aircraft in the sim?IIRC, on another complex aircraft, you could turn the turbine without ignition and it would force cool air through it. Is there anything like this for the JS41?

Ok, when I hit the shift-2 to get the ramp manager, a window sort of opens but is hidden. I can't seem to bring it up to the top. Its listed as open (with the check mark) but its not there, even when I close all the other views. The FMS and the GPS both work fine. Any thoughts?I'm running a core i7 920 with a GTX 260, 6Gb memory and two monitors off the 260. Thanks, Doug

In my long-time FS career, I've always been taught that the Landing lights must be turned off when climbing through 10K ft; and vis-versa when descending through 10K ft.If I understand it correctly, the landing lights on this bird are on the nose-gear (just above the taxi light). So if this is true, in the real world pilots would leave the landing lights on even with the nose gear raised up after takeoff? That seems kind'a silly... :( I would be most interested in hearing how this works in RW OPS.Thanks,

Hi,2D (no panel) and exterior views i'm getting between 100 and 200 frames but in VC only around 30 - far less than the 747 and MD11, is it something i'm doing wrong, or need to tick something?Either way i'll keep on flying the JS, but if I could improve the frames it can only make things better!Intel i7 920 @ 3.8GHzGeForece GTX9206GB RAMSam

The configuration choice isHigh: Icing simulation and cabin passengersMedium: Cabin passengersLow: NeitherAny chance a future update might allow selecting ice modelling without passengers. I found deleting pax was the only way to get acceptable framerates on my PC, but I'd like to experience .Kevin

I was wondering if there was a way to get icing on the js41 without having passengers? I know it does not give that option in the configurator but it would have been nice.Is there a way to alter this in the planes cfg ?BTW otherwise great job PMDG.Travis

I've been flying the J41 all weekend, love it! Between this and the A2A Accusim birds, I think I've been seduced by the Darkside (FSX). Before I commit completely to FSX, I would like to know what performance I can expect from the PMDG MD11. I'm not looking for absolute numbers, just a comparison with the J41. I'm getting good performance from the J41, as long as I stay away from the large airports like JFK and LAX. Michael Duggan

Occasionally, I tend to practice my engine out landings. While in the air, I would bring the control levers all the way back, resulting in the inevitable engine fire.I flip on both extinguishers, for the left and right engines. I would use one bottle for each engine, and then use the other. For some reason, only one engine extinguishes, and it's always the one which I had deployed the bottles on first.Any ideas?

I've found TrackIR 4 works well in J41 VC. Has anyone used the new TrackIR 5 in J41. Is it worth upgrading?By the way well done PMDG in a beautiful aircraft J41. :(

I've enjoyed a couple flights with this amazing aircraft and i have a question about the sounds in the cockpit. Is that anoying persistant clicking sound present in the real plane or is there something i'm missing in the set up? No matter what I try i can't find how to silence the bugger.Oh and in real life does the icing system have to be operated as often as the sim in icing conditions? That would get old fast.BTW what a fantastic leap forward in simulation. Again!!!Buggerup.

Here's a real J41 cockpit, captain is starting engine no:2: I don't think he's staring the engines manually but his both hands are on condition levers. Why is that? I thought before starting the engines (automatically), CL should already have been moved to taxi position. Isn't it?By the way when I watched the movie, I thought I have already been there and it seemed sooo familiar to me. Thanks PMDG, you have done an excellent job. It is so much fun to fly this bird, it is so realistic.

No 2D panel for the J41? :( I think it may be a deal breaker for me... Such a shame, i was REALLY looking forward to that. I find it too hard to control the 3D VC's. My computer can handle it just fine, but the 3D gauges are too hard to see accurately without panning, zooming in and out every 2 seconds. With a 2D panel, all you need is right there in front of you.PMDG, is there a way to make a 2D panel addon for this? Please? Pretty please? With a cherry on top? Go on, you know you want to.

Ok, i give up. how do you get the plane you want, with the livery you want at the airport you want so the thing will start?I can get the engines started from the supplied default but not from any other. Yes I can move the default to any airport and it will start but what about the livery? If you change the livery then the engine refuses to start.I'm thinking that flying the plane should be the fun part not figuring out the preposterous loading sequence of default flights so that it will actually work.

I'm using a i7 920 oc to 3.2. I'm telling ya this plane is the best thing since Beer. Can't wait for the Aussie Livery. The FPS are awesome too, even going into YSSY, she kicks &@($*. I actually went into the Config Manager and used the NORMAL RESOULTION GUAGES and it looks way better for some reason and gave me about +10 FPS. Thanks guys. I can only imagine the 737 and the Dash, two of my all time favorites. Everyone should buy this thing, the screen shots just don't do it service. J T COLLINS
