PMDG Turboprops (Legacy Versions)

  1. Started by Roy Warren,

I've had it a week and I'm learning something new every day. Thanks for all the posts here and the good advice. EnvaluableWhen the Tutorial first starts I get the Captians normal view (1).I press "A" and nothing happens. Tried it with and without Caps Lock. When I press Shift+A the view changes. I can go through then entire sequence doing this. In reverse order as it should be.I get 10 views instead of the 8 the Tutorial says. A Captians view through the windscreen (no panel) and a view from between the Capt and the FO, looking forward. These extra views don't bother me, but I list them because it may lead someone to the problem. How can I make the "A" key work as it…

  2. I dont understand why the interrior cabin is lacking in quality so badly. It is utterly disgustting graphically. Utter blaspheme to be a part of the rest of the plane! How can the same addon contain one of the finest VC cockpits in the history of Microsoft Flight simulator... and then have the gall to include an interior cabin view but have it look like a garbage dump of some of the crappiest textures ive ever seen? Whenever I change my view to inside the cabin I feel like PMDG robbed me of 50 dollars. As a paying customer and one who stands up for how I spend my money I would like an answer from PMDG Simulations as to why the cabin interrior is lacking in quality SO U…

I'm looking at buying some add-on's for the J41. Had a good look at FSMAP. Is it compatible with the 41 and is it worth the money. Any other add-ons anyone can suggest.

  5. Because we have external power we turn the Avionics swtches "on". As the flight prep continues, the Flight plan is entered, Takeoff speeds, altiude info, etc. are all entered. So why do we turn the Avionics "off" before engine start as stated in the tutorial? Do we lose all the info we programmed earlier? I really do not understand exactly what should be done at this stage.I really like this plane but trying to operate it "by the book" is becoming more frustration than pleasure. Can someone set me on the right track please?Regards and thanks in advance.

  6. I don't know if anyone can answer this question, but I have noticed that not one single developer has ever acurately modeled the start up sequence of a turboprop engine. Anytime you start it up it makes the startup noise and when the fuel ignites the prop just spins up real fast. I have had lots of experience around turboprop engines both direct drive and free turbine. When you hit the starter, the prop starts spinning. Even with a free turbine engine the prop will start moving almost right away. All the pistion engine aircraft in flight sim have the prop start realistically modeled but not turboprops. Even the startup sequence for the EH-101 Helicopter is more realistic…

  7. Simple Question. Why must the Avionics be turned off right before you start up the engine? Are you not allowed to start up with the avionics on and aligned?Tom Norton

I don't understand why but my absolutely, verifiably, legitimately purchased PMDG JS4100 has begun asking for online verification each time I try to use the aircraft. I enter the licence number and am told it's unlicensed and will not perform as expected. Any clue's, guys? Just as a matter of interest, MS automatic updates were installed yesterday to my Win 7 64bit os. This morning is the first time I've attempted to open the aircraft.Jon Shearer

Hi, How come the Jetstream 41 never got released for FS9? i was really dissapointed when I saw this because i love PMDG products and really love the Jetstream 41 :(Anyone know why? :/Cheers.Alex

  11. Started by realpilotsimpilot,

I am consistently way too fast on my approaches with the J41. I suspect it is a variant of the old chestnut that the bird can either "slow down or go down", but not both, at the same time. So, here's the typical scenario: I'm flying along at about 170 being vectored for the approach, I get it down to 150, as I'm vecored onto final, and then I bring it back to idle and drop the last bit of flaps and gear and head down the localizer. Even at landing configuration, I can't get it down below about 130 on a standard glide slope. Give that the VREF is usually in the 115-125 range, this is annoying me. So, any tips would be much appreciated. I suppose I could slow to VREF…

Is there any hope yet of a solution to the J4100 "crash to desktop" issue. I have purchased two copies... one installed on a Windows 7 machine and the other on a Windows XP system..neither work!I an not new to computers or Flight Sims but I am willing to accept that it is a problem on my end. I have tried every "fix" I have found on the forums to no avail. I have FSX on both machines running many add-ons with no glitches.Any suggestions,Thankswschrader

Help, I bought the JS4100 literally the first day it was available, and have been using it with no problems in FSX Acceleration. Updated it to SP1 around the time that patch became available too. It's been behaving great all the while.Suddenly, though, the add-on has started crashing any time I load it. For example, after selecting it from the FSX "free flight" window, I will see the plane's model show up in the preview area with no textures, then hear the engine start sound as the DLL is loaded, then I get a crash to desktop. More or less the same thing happens if I am already in the sim and switch to the JS4100 from another aircraft. This is the only PMDG plane in my ha…

The thing that brought me back to Flight Simming was a Computer I built and FSX. Or so I thought. Then I bought this JS4100. This is a complex aircraft...presented by its maker and PMDG, as accurately as possible, given the limitations, in some areas, of FSX. Microsoft, I salute you for giving all of us a pretty darn good program. To PMDG: I congratulate you. This is one hell of an effort.Jon ShearerAdded: Get it if you don't have it. It will give you, as close to really, what modern Pilots contend with on a daily basis. Yup! that's why I've come back to this fascinating hobby.

Hello,I plan route using route finderAs you can notice, in route finder I can choose wich AIRAC cycle I want to use.In order to avoid discrepancy between the route proposed by route finder and the FMS of the JS41 I obviously want to use the same AIRAC cycle as the one that is delivered with the JS41 (don't mind if it's outdated).Do you know wich cycle is it ?Arnaud de Saint Hilaire

Have the GF-LGT and GF-MCP modules... + a couple of issues with this A/C model1. The HDG setting dial on the module does not move the heading bug in the sim... but the setting dial in the sim does register the value on the module... wierd ??2. Similar issue with the Alt setting dial on the module except that the sim dial does not change the value in the module.CRS + Vert. Speed functions work fine between the module and the sim. Also, the Trim, Gear, + Flap functions on the LGT module all work fine within the sim.PS: Is there a 'switch' to have the autopilot track the GPS course ??Great A/C !!!Rick Lechow

Hello fellow simmers,I just purchased the JS4100 and it's a beauty.I have several top quality payware aircraft, such as the Pilatus-12, Citation Mustang, etc., and I use Cockpit Chatter during flight to change altitudes, headings, etc., by voice commands instead of the mouse.I have found that with the JS4100, "all" of these functions have to be done manually as it will not accept the voice commands through Cockpit Chatter. IS this normal? Thanks in advance,Tom HigginbothamMontgomery, AL, USA

I would like clarification about the idle engine soundI note that when i pull the throttles back to idle in the js4100 the engines seem to sound like they remain at a very high rpm. The instruments agree with the throttle position but the sound seem out of sync. i.e . The engines just dont sound like they have been reduced to idleMaybe thats the ways it is supposed to be.I have installed the original file and sp1Thanks and just let me know if this is working correctlyThank youPeter
