What's the best way of reducing speed without losing control, assuming one's in AP's LNAV + the higher speed IAS to begin with? For example, slowing from 220 to 190 to 170, ready for flaps 9.This trainee understands the principles of thrust and attitude needing to find a new equilibrium, but can't quite work out which of the controls to pick first! :( Many thanks (and apologies for three threads in a row!).Best wishes,David Abrahams

I seem to find that J41 needs much more than Vr/2 to unstick and achieve 7-10 of pitch for climbout. For example, even without payload, 93kts Vr/V2 indicated sails past with the yoke well back and liftoff occurs at about 125kts ++.What's the probable pilot error? :( Thanks!Best wishes,David Abrahams

Hi all,I have just noticed the nose of the 1900d has a hole in it anyone else noticed this?

The last two flights with the JS41 have ended the same way: After 20 or 30 minutes of normal flight the aircraft begins spinning like a top. It looks like a flat spin but no altitude is lost and nothing I try will normalize the flight. Controls still operate, comms are still normal, autopilot on or off makes no difference. Its Your Plane and Radar Contact 4 both operating normally in FSX. No other planes have lost control, just the JS41.Any suggestions for a fix appreciated.Neal Howard

Hello again gents,I have 62 hours of stick time on this aircraft but in about 70% of trips th program crashes to the desktop. I've tried everything I know how to do, which isn't much. I have re-installed the program and changed the graphics card. When the program crashes, I get the message "Fatal Error- the dispalay adapter has quit responding. Shortly thereafter I get the message that "the display adapter has revovered", but the flight is lost. It can happen anytime from taxi to mid-flight and is independent of FMC programming. I haven't read of anyone else with this problem so it must be me but I'm truly lost. Can anyone help me?Thanks very muchEric OlsonComputer…

Hi,does anyone know where to find some advanced tutorials for FMC Programming for the jetstream?FMC works fine for me but have some questions about special waypoints like 10 miles, 350 degrees from VOR Duesseldorf DUS for example. Or stay on course 350 until reaching Altitude 2.000 feet. Also I have some problems with the arrivals and approaches. Once chosen an approach I am not able to change it to another one. Best regardsKai Bock

With the NGX looking less and less likely, I decided that I needed to get an advanced FSX aircraft to give myself a valid performance estimate. Since I already have the VRS bug in FS9 and was looking for something new, I settled on the JS41. 30 minutes later, after installing FSUIPC and WideFS, I hit "Fly Now". Sitting in a tottally unfamiliar cockpit, I managed to take off, mess with the autopilot, and then turn around and land. Feeling sure of myself, I tried to start up the engines. I got #1 turning easily, so I happily punched start on #2, which promptly burst into flames. After reading the tutorial, I managed to start up with no issues what so ever. You guys managed …

My understanding is that the green pilot-in-command indicator should only light up on one side at a time, correct? But in my limited experience so far in pre-flight, any toggling of the button(s) just produces the same flying role on both sides: either both PILOT (green) or both COPILOT.Not sure it matters too much for a single-pilot flight, as long as "my" LH side is green, but just wondering what's up and whether it should bother me more ... :( Any ideas? Many thanks.David Abrahams

It's very simple:1. Install CS radar into JS41 using installer provided by Captain Sim (WXR_Editor.exe)2. Go to FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\PMDG_JS4100\panel\panel.cfg, open the file with notepad, find the line gauge04=rxpWX500!RDR, 532, 528, 472, 331 and replace it with gauge04=WXR!wr_display, 532, 528, 472, 331 Do the same for panel_HIDEF and panel_LODEF which are used when you change panel quality in JS41 configurator. That's all. You can operate radar gauge using 2D window only.RXP gauge may have more features, but it's pretty expensive for something that is not fully functional due to FSX limitations. At least that's what PMDG guys repeat constantly when asked a…

Hi Gents.I'm afaraid I have some more really basic questions - this time about the approach. I'm not yet using the FMC (fear!!!!) and am doing short hops here and there.Q1 I'm on autopilot ( alt and hdg ) and as soon as I start to bank the autopilot cuts out - what I really want is to maintain the alt until the glideslope is captured (or is this bad practice?)Q2 I've not used the Approach function - at what point should I press the approach button and, what other autopilot functions should be working please? And out of interest if you can spare the time, do real pilots actually use the Approach function? (I know they will land manually). Thanks as always to you guys.Kind r…

I'm quite new to FSX and PMDG. Have to say the J41 is terrific - thoroughly absorbing, educational and entertaining. So many thanks!Am working through all the excellent documentation. Here's what's defeated me in the tutorial:1. After apparently successful engine starts, switching the standby pumps off and switching from GPU to batteries/internal power generation seems to produce total engine shutoff! There's enough fuel, pressures good - I simply can't work out what I'm doing wrong ... Doesn't seem to be any fuel cutoff valve to check either (I think!).2. Similarly, something unexpected happened when I decided to wait and watch for the left engine's Start button to pop o…

Sheer laziness on my part, I know ...If there is an update in the pipeline would it be possible to include something on the load sheet that gave me the number I have to enter in the FMS for payload, to cut out my frequent adding mistakes ?I'm not after anything flash, I'd be quite happy for it to appear as a tooltip when I mouse over the closet weight :( ThanksGary

Weird problem. I'm doing the tutorial, and one engine is running about 40 degrees cooler than the other. I've checked all settings, which seem identical. Checked anti-icing etc, and same for all engines. Any ideas? Also this thing is a frame rate killer, much worse than MD-11 or 747. Any hints? Thanks!Joe Legander I ?

Can anyone tell me how to get the landing lights to work on the J41? I've been getting used to lights on the VRS Superbug and I'm curious if the J41 is capable of lighting like that. Any input? Thanks, Pete Giese

HelloCould someone please tell me if it's possible to save the start up configuration of the aircraft? What I mean by this is that I have successfully been through the startup proedure and all is well but on some occassions I would like just to hop into the plane with it already started. I've saved a configured plane/flight but it seems not to want to store the instrument settings.Am I asking too much of FSX?ThanksSusie Griffin

Sorry to ask such an obvious question but better safe than sorry ...I just bought the download version which says in the readme "This is version 1.10.1016". I've then downloaded the service pack which also says in its readme "This is version 1.10.1016". Does this mean that the download version is up to date to spack1 ?ThanksGary

Hey guys, I saw a few pages down there was a fellow named Jim Hodkinson who had been doing a lot of really nice repaints. Unfortunately the fellow has taken ill and I hope he gets better. Until then, are any other painters here who would be willing to do a paint of the Brasilian airline Passaredo? I know that they dont really fly the J41 so it will be fictitious, but that is fine. Here are a few pic of it.Thanks in advance.Sean Campbell

Some help please !After years of FS, I'm blocked for days on JS41 turbo prop !!I've red on the forum many topics about my 2 problems : starting engines and powering up the FMS, and I've tried a lot of proposed solutions, but with no interesting result, except the fact it seems a lot of people have some trouble with JS41When, sometimes, I succeed in starting engines (after loading default CESSNA, shutting down engine, battery, avionics, then loading JS41, verify blades are unfeathered or if not, unfeathered them when in reverse and after switching unfeather switch to left then right...), I press the FMS "ON" button and ....nothing ! despite the fact I have re-installed SP2…
