PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

When on final approach with the MD-11 I see the following display on the PFD : LOC G/S APPR ONLY .The autoland always fails and I wonder what the above display means and more important how to correct it .ThanksPaul12

Hello everyone, Its taken a while to think about this but anyway, its a known fact that on the Boeing FMC, in order to do a short cut enroute, select a waypoint on the LSLK and place it at 1LSK and press execute and your route is changed to the selected waypoint. Does anyone know how to perform this manouvre with the MD11. When I tried it the Airways window opened so I gave up. Many thanks. richard welsh.

Hi All, Although I live in the UK, I fly mostly in the USA due to the great variety of airports and distances of flight, and for the most part airport STARS are usually quite straight forward and uncomplicated. For a change I used a european flight from EGPF (Glasgow) to EDDF (Frankfurt Germany). The route ended at ROLIS and I selected the STAR for RW25R and was amazed at the complexity of it and even more so as to how the FMC managed to overcome the twists and turns so accurately and ended with an excellent landing. I mention this to highlight the skill of the PMDG team in developing an FMC with such simulated accuracy. Its no wonder we have to wait so long for product…

Hello.I hope it's ok to post this here. This is a preview of one of the more well-known MD-11s in the scene. The infamous PH-MCS (CS-503) - operating for Martinair - which you know from the ITVV "Boeing MD-11" Amsterdam-Palma de Mallorca roundtrip DVD. Actually I only the snippets which are available on a video-sharing website, but that's already quite impressing.Everything is handpainted except the parts coming with the paintkit. I tried to make it as exact as possible. All small decals should be in place. I haven't seen a repaint of this one yet, so now everyone can fly that roundtrip.Thanks for watching and comments are welcome.-Christian

I've recently been having issues with my entire computer freezing up on me when trying to set up an approach in the CDU. I've read other posts regarding this issue and was curious to see if anyone had figured out a definite way to avoid this.What I've been doing to prevent a lock up was s lat rev'ing my desired approach from the waypoint just before my listed airport in the F-PLAN page. I still get the occasional freeze even when doing this though. On my last flight, prior to selecting an approach or runway, I input two "place/bearing/distance" waypoints which I placed in the middle of my STAR. Hey guys,Not an expert on the MD or flying it for that matter, would like a real experts opinion on whether you think this "looks" overweight or the nose is up too far. A little background, fully loaded with around 12lbs of fuel on final, video is right before I capture the g/s....I think, I had flaps 50 and maintaining vref/vapp I forget which one is first. Is this normal looking from the outside where the nose looks to be way up there?

Hey guys,I've recently discovered a lever between the F/O's seat and the centre console. It's stowed under a lid (unlike the ADG handle) and asks to 'pull to relieve the flaps' or something like that. Can anyone tell me what it's for?Cheers!

Is it possible to speed up the flash rate of the strobe lights on the FSX MD11?Watching a youtube video, the MD11#s strobes were flashing about once a second. Timing my flashes on the PMDG version, they only flash once every 8 seconds.

Hello everybody!I'm writing for these problems that I'm having with MD11. After installation (everithing is fine till here) I load the MD11 and when I load a panel state from the menu above first problem appears. The "cold and dark" panel state does not load propely...I mean...some screens remain active and some swithches on the overhead are in ON position (for ex. batteries ect.).Then...comes the "trim problem". I mean that the TRIM does not stay in the position I want. I want trim at 6.5 unit and it goes there but when I release the switch it comes to the full nose down position at once. Hello everyone, first time posting here as I have just bought and installed the PMDG MD-11! Upon loading it after installing it the exterior and VC views are a bit buggy. On the exterior model the only thing that is very detailed is the vertical stab and the winglets, the rest of the model is so blurry you cant even make out the doors. And the same on the virtual cockpit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!Thanks Justin

I have just watched Chris Palmers 'VOR' training video as part of the PMDG MD-11 training and this guy is an expert! Flying into Zurich takes on a completely new experience.It's a credit to PMDG and their superb job of developing this simulation and it's people like Chris that show us so much more, that lies hidden to the average user.I extremely urge people that love this aircraft, to buy this addon. It is money well spent and I am saying that even though I recieve a credit on my meagre pension.

I fly the MD11F on long hauls only. Therfore I have a lot of waypoints on every flight with the most being 91 from Bangkok to Helsinki. I have been entering a average headwind or tailwind on the F-PLN INIT page of the MCDU as opposed to entering this information in page 2 of 2 on the ACT F-PLN for each waypoint. I still try to fly the London-Zurich flight according to the tutorial and I am almost there but only almost.When on final approach with the gear down and the flaps at 35 ( as explained in the tutorial ) I keep getting themessage " to low,terrain,to low,terrain...pull up".This happens with the autopilot on and it is supposed to be an autoland.What am I missing ? And how can I pull up with the autopilot on ? I tried to lower the gear at a lower altitude hoping to reduce drag but same result.Your hints are appreciated.ThanksHubert Werni

Hi gents, I know a lot of you also own the Martinair MD-11 DVD (great dvd) so hoping someone can shed some light on something. During both of the flights there's a Stabilizer callout and weird buzzer sound I never heard before. Both the pilot and 1st officer don't seem to pay much attention to it, if any, and I can't make out what else is said in the aural warning.I watched it this morning and heard it on both the flight to Palma de Mallorca as well as the return trip back to Amsterdam. Hello,I have been one of the first to buy the MD-11 when it was released and have flown it ever since without any kind of problems.I haven't used FS for two months, and recently I tried loading a new free flight as always, with my MD-11. When I did select the aircraft in the free flight window, the AIRAC started to load and at "5000 airports" (or something), FS closed by saying "a fatal error has occured".I tried un-installing the bird, restarted the computer and installed the bird again, same error at the same moment.What can I do ? Coming into Narita in CAT III conditions. I am fully set up for autoland established on loc and G/S flying straight and true just about to cross 1500 agl when tcas alarm sounds...plane goes into what appears to be go around mode automatically. throttle up nose up I immediately disconnect auto pilot and land the plane. Is this a safety feature of the md-11 when the tcas sounds under a certain altitude? The flight was ultimately sucessful I got my sim passengers there alive, but just curious why that happened.Guthrie Zuehlke

I created a flightplan in the MD-11 and using the autopilot. waypoint datas in the FCDU BLM 245 / +15000 ZH677 245 / + 12000 Gipol 245 / 8002 Tra/10 242 / 5099 CF14 189 / 4000 I was under the impression that when the above waypoints are reached that the speed should adjustto the indicated values.( ex 189 at CF14 )But this is not the case and I wonder why.The speeds are always higher.Thanks for your helpHubert Werni
