PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

Hi, I noticed that the MD-11 seems to have a wide circle around it regarding AI traffic to follow it. When taxiing AI is kept at a great distance from the MD11 by ATC resulting in ATC constanly telling AI to hold for the MD11. Too great a distance actually. In some instances AI is still at the tarmac while the user AC alligns on the runway. Is there a variable that I can tweak so AI will just follow?Menno

Hello to all,i am a new buyer of TSR autobrake and I can't get it to work properly. It works with default Boeing 777 and 747 (FS2004) but not with 737. I tried to send .air file of my PMDG MD-11 to the email that is written in the manual but no luck. The email does not exist. I tried using MD-11 with Boeing 777/747 6 position settings and it does not work. I don't understand why my VC looks like this. Most of the things is ureadble from larger distance.I run Q9550, nvidia 260 with newest drivers. 1920x1200, texture filtering is set to trilinear via nvidia controll panel. Any idea how to fix that?Sorry I forgot to attach pic.

Somehow REX messed up my landing lights reflection from the ground (see also my thread here), so my questions:1.Does the MD-11 come with its own set of landing/taxi/... lights and the effect of ground lit by the landing/taxi light files (whatever they are) which could easily be "destroyed" by applications like REX, can I restore them without re-installing the MD-11 completely?2.If 1. is impossible or difficult to do, is it possible to successfully use replacements like A2A lights redux for the MD-11? Would this replace the ground lighting as well?

Hi this is a very dum question.but can some one tell me were is the cfg file for fsx located.I m usign w7 64b home eddition. I have no need to go in the cfg file but I like to know were is locatedI know were the aircraft cfg are but I have no idea of were is the cfg file for the fsx. Hi guysWhen I try to refuel using the FMS in FSM mode after starting (3,1, 2 ) after starting 2 I get a caution on the fuel page saying CG DISAG but i havent change any weights since preflight. But if i put the same fuel load using the fuel in the pmdg options I dont get this message.Any thoughtsThanksChris Finlay

I often find it difficult to bleed off excess energy during approach. With flaps etended, speed brakes cannot longer be used, and often gear and flaps don't generate enough drag even when on idle thrust. And I suppose idle throughout the last phase of approach is not desirable...Is it practicable to deploy slats/flaps before automatics tell me to do so (hollow magenta circles on speed tape), so that I eventually must use more thrust on the last mile(s), or would that be bad technique?

Hi all,I have been having a big problem recently with the MD11. After every flight, as soon as I disengage the autopilot I have no pitch control whatsoever. I am using a Saitek X52. I have read a previous topic on this forum about other users having this problem , but it seems to be unresolved. Has anyone found the solution? I have very limited time to fly the md 11 so it is extremely irritating when this happens after a long flight right before landing. Hey all,I normally have no issues with the MD-11. Every flight I do is normal with the exception of the last one. It First started when I loaded the MD-11 and the screens remained blank, so I restarted flightsim and it loaded without issue. I then went thru the preflight as usual, and everything went on without a hitch...until taxi out. During taxi out, I was panning around while turning and the the textures were crazy...It almost looked like screen burn-in, and some textures were completely missing...I switched to spot view, and it took a long time for the textures to load, and even then they were very blurry...ok.Fast forward an hour. After flying the PMDG MD-11 perfectly fine in FSX for at least 100 hours I am now having a unique problem. After t/o in straight and level flight above the necessary altitude I engage the autopilot. The problem is that the nose continues to pitch up beyond that prescribed by the flight director until it stalls. I have Rex2 (Wx engine turned off), Active Sky Evolution, FSUIPC with weather off and FSInn with weather off. I've tried reinstalling pretty much everything to no avail.Any thoughts on solving this would be greatly appreciated.Ted Belden

Do these values add to the calculation of the stab trim value for takeoff?From where in the real world do these values come (loadsheet,...)? I can imagine that ZFWCG can be derived from the plane geometry and loading and that the FMS can calculate TOCG by looking how fuel is distributed, but I cannot think of having TOCG available for entering it into the MCDU...

To what extent is the MD-11 hand flown in real life?Is changing to manual control early on approach an exception?And if the plane is hand flown, is ATS left on even for landings up to touchdown?I have the impression that smaller planes allow for the more "dangerous" sort of flying, i.e. curved approaches like Tegucigalpa (short final), and that's done routinely, whereas bigger ones like the MD-11 seem to be flown "on the safe side" with only little hand flying. Is that true, or are MD-11s on the "wild side" sometimes as well?

How much an influence on flight/handling characteristics does it have when stab trim is incorrectly set for takeoff (e.g. 5.0 instead of 7.2) on the real plane?

Just out of curiosity when I read through the manuals and stuff from smartcockpit.com:I remember to have seen the "procedure turn >" prompt on the MCDU of the sim plane, but it was kind of grayed out and I faintly remember that it was not selectable by the respective LSK. The PMDG FMS manual says that this feature is described somewhere under advanced techniques or so, but there's nothing about procedure turns.Should that feature be available?

I keep getting a CTD during my flights with the PMDG MD-11. I will post the event log here and hope that someone has dealt with this before as I have no idea what the problem is except that according to the event log a certain dll. is causing the crash. Hi I like to know if any one have used the free MD11 HD download for Avsim, I was looking at the installetion instructions it say to install you need to go into you FSX.cfg and change the line TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024 to read TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048 . If you change settings in FSX you will have to change it back to 2048 as it resets for some reason can some one tell me if this is a one time deal or is every time I want to useit.

Hi all,i'm just reading for the second time my (very) big System Manual during the long flights aboard of this beauty of the sky (along with the FMS and the FCOM).Reading the Air Conditioning and Pressurization part I encountered two phrases that turned on my doubts.1) AIR.10.9: "In automatic control, the CPCs: prepressurize to about 100 feet below T/O field elevation when slats are extended." I never see if this is real in the PMDG's beast.
