PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

I can only find three places in the MCDU where winds may be entered - F-PLAN INIT 1/3, CLIMB FORECAST and DESCENT FORECAST. I have tried various formats on ACT F-PLAN 2/2 such as 268/50, +/50, /+50 but I receive the message NOT ALLOWED at the bottom of the screen. Whatever is entered on the F-PLAN INIT page remains in the wind area for each waypoint. What I am trying to do is enter maybe 5 HDW ot TLW speeds at 5 different waypoints thru out the flight plan to account for step climbs and distance of legs. For an example I will use a flight from EDDF to KLAX. I can print a report from Active Sky X that will show me the wind direction and speed for each waypoint of the route…

How do you find the Atis, atc, aoc com Freq, in using the FMC. at the airport your taking off from Thanks for the help.

Hello everyone!Today, due to receiving my first credit card I was able to buy something over the net for the first time - without having someone else pay for me.Anyway as great prize I've decided to help PMDG a bit and buy their MD-11, a truly amazing aircraft, especially with Lee Marrow's HD textures.Everything is great and all, but before I begin my type studies for this one I'd like to know what to expect on my way, all experience I have is on the 747-400/8i so I don't really know how similar the jets are. Any pointers appreciated! :)

A lot of Central and Southern american airports are visited by MD11's (mostly MD11F but some airports have KLM's landing, like MPTO and some carribean destinations)I recently bought Boris Foreros Quito X to fly to with my PMDG MD11F and would first like to recommend it to anyone that wants to do some long range freight operations to this part of the world. It has high detail ground textures around the airports and also well modeled buildings on it. The runway textures are good, the grass not as much but still decent enough not to make you annoyed.I'd like to ask if someone has tried VirtualCol's Tocumen X (MPTO) airport for fsx and what your thoughts are of it.A…

Hi. I've always heard the SOP for the MD11 is to flare it at 50 feet. The autoland function in FSX seems to flare it at that height too, but a lot of people seem to flare it at 30 feet and are saying thats the correct way. Are they confusing MD11 with Boeing aircrafts or have i heard wrong?

I can't seem to get any traffic...... 'diamonds-radar contacts'... to appear on my ND . I do have TCAS on and my aircraft settings are at 50 %. Anybody have an idea as to what may be wrong?jen

Hi,Installed a second graphics card in the PC then connected a small 8 inch touchscreen LCD and moved the MCDU to it. Sits just beyond my my throttle levers so I can rest my hand there and use my fingers to operate the unit.I know its nothing new but helps to improve the realism.

I have to reinstalled MD11X. Now, I cannot see the Runway during the take off . How can lower the 2D Cockpit panel. :( Thanks

Below is a screenshot of the MD-11F 2D Panel which should show a small white square in the upper lefthand corner. This is the only view in which it appears - not in the VC, spot view, tail, etc. It causes no problems that I am aware of. I am just interested as to what this is. Cannot find my original post anymore, so I repost since I still have no sufficient information:On the takeoff reference page of the MCDU I need to enter an OAT for the origin airport. On the climb forecast page, there's an option to insert a temperature for the origin airport as well.The last line on the climb forecast page is automatically populated with the origin airport identifier, don't know if this can be changed and another navaid/waypoint can be entered. Anyway, the corresponding temperature field is empty (bracketed).I don't understand why the temperatures for the origin airport on both the takeoff reference and climb forecast pages aren't sync'ed. Maybe it won't…

G'day Guys,I seem to be having an issue with my auto brakes on autoland...once i touch down the autobrakes kick in to whatever I've set them to. When I go to disengage them and the autopilot they don't respond unless I hit the Ctrl + . (handbrake) twice and then after i do that the brakes release but I then don't have any brakes at all....anyone out there with a solution?John Davis

What are the main differences between McPhat's HD repaints and the HD repaints available in the Avsim library? I purchased McPhat's (they currently seem to work on bug fixes and licensing issues), but that's only a couple of textures compared to what is available on Avsim. Are McPhat's repaints the better choice (disregarding the fact that they're payware) or am I better served with the repaints from the library?

Hello everybody,I searched the forum and tried to help myself with google and all other search engines, but I still have a sort of problem.In the FCOM on page 18(the page number in your adobe reader not the FCOM page itself), you find the weight tables in the limitations section.There are three columns with MTOW MLW and so on, but all numbers except 630,500lbs in the first and second column are different. On the right side(aircraft serial numbers is above the column) you find numbers like (1) (2) (3) in every column.The explanation for this is below but they do not make any sense to me, because every number from (1) to (3) are listed in every column and so far not explain…

I have hundreds od MSFS aircraft including the entire PMDG product line. All fly wonderfully and look great. However, i cannot get the MD11 to follow the CDU programmed route. This works fine in the 747 and 737 (FS2004) but no matter what flightplan I set up in the CDU I can't get the right sequence of LNAV buttons to actually obey the CDU. It should be a click, click and lock on. Just doesn't work. Sample flight KPDX-KORD.Any ideas?

I have a need to re-install my MD-11. All the documentation talks about an install key but I can't find anywhere that mentions the actual key. Can someone tell me where to find this key? Note: I have the proper receipt documents.Frank Bass

Does the MD-11 for FS9, saved and retore flights similar to the &$&-400/F? That is, if I establish and fly a flight plan that will take 3-5 hours am I able to save the flight to disk, exit the sim, return to the sim and pick-up where I left off? The PMGD 747 allowed this action, their 737 did not. This makes a huge differance to me in purchasing the aircraft. I attempted to find the answer by searching the forum, but for some reason I was unable to reveiw an answer and come back to the search list.ThanksTom

Hello,I bought the PMDG MD-11 few weeks ago, but still learn to fly the bird with its all systems correctly. In my opinion definitely the best aircraft for the FS9.Ok, enough commendation. Now the questions:1.) The heading bar on the standby Instrument on the lower center instrument panel (not the compass under overhead panel) is flashing in the VC. Is this normal? KLICK2.) The Tutorial describes to push the Autoflight butten before lining up the rwy for take off which engages Autothrottles. But the Engines spool up to Takeoff Thrust as well without pushing Autoflight. Hi,as you can see I am descending into New York (crossed the pond for the first time). I am heading to ZACHS right now with an expected altitude of 2000 ft. (that is plausible) and at a supposed speed of 229 Knt. which is not plausible at all considering that the it is dropping to 162. I am quite curious to know why the Autopilot is not doing what he is supposed to...Regards

I just have a quick question... On the MD 11 when you drop first flap, after that I'm unable to use the speed brakes... Is this normal for the MD 11 because I dont know any other way to add drag during descent....but thx for those who can answer this...Carlitos Colon

Why is it so much harder to hand land this baby (relative to other addons that is...)? I have about 50% successful hand lands....Autolands are always successful (thanks to PMDG). Any ideas, suggestions?Benny K

Hello Folks,I'm having a problem (both fs9 and fsX versions) in winter flights at cruise altitude (especially over the North Atlantic to Europe) where the MCDU commands a speed (cost index of 80) that causes an overspeed condition. Also, I get a "fuel temp low" warning. I get to a lower alt (lower then optimum) to "warm up" a bit, but this causes higher fuel burn as you would understand. The only way to alleviate the situation of "overspeed" on continuously, I have to set the cost index to 30 - this brings the cruise to around M .80 and turns off the nuisance overspeed warning. I'm using Active Sky and have a registered FSUIPC module. Is there possibly a glitch in the MD-…

Just wondering if anybody is interested in HD textures for the MD11 when i say HD the textures are 2048x2048 so will use up more memory also they will only be for FSX . Ive redone about 90% of the plane including bump files and specs . Heres a couple of shots . I have two paints done one pax one cargo but if there is enough interest i will do more and more .
