I am thinking about getting the MD-11 but I was wondering if there are any (short haul) flightplans I can download somewhere? I don't like to use all kinds of charts but I'd like to enter (or load) a flightplan and don't want to think too much about SIDS and STARS and transitions: I'd like to have that information ready and waiting for me. :( I've been flying heavies a few years ago (PMDG and Level-D) but I remember always having troubles finding routes and looking up with transition to use for a specific STAR and so on... Does the MD-11 come with some ready to use company routes by any chance?

Ok, I'm still in a Boeing state of mind. Even after reviewing the FMC manual I am still not performing the required steps correctly. I'm at .820/FL350 and I would like to burn a little fuel off. So I want to slightly modify my active flight plan to reflect a .80/FL310 configuration. With a Boeing I could just go into the Legs Page and modify the auguments that I find there and press EXEC to imput the changes. Is there a method of doing the same thing using the MD-11 F-PLN Key.Please point me to the correct page in the manual. I have attempted to make the change using INIT Key for the speed (and it worked), but on the altitude side I have made numerous errors. Using…

Can someone help on this – have always had this problem with the MD11. Was doing a Montreal Toronto flight on Vatsim this afternoon – had set up my approach from Montreal for a Simcoe2 star, runway 15L. As I was approaching my descent Toronto center called for a Simcoe2 runway 5 approach. Updated the approach in the FMS to runway 5 – that is when I noticed on my flight plan page that it had both approaches inputed in the fms! I had to manually delete a bunch of intersections – this while taking descent commands from ATC. I've run into this before with this aircraft – can someone explain fms procedure for changing runways? I have a problem!In MD-11X, I want to connect "External Power", but I cannot.Things happened to me:I arrived at Zurich Airport.(I have flew the Tutorial Flight) Shutted down Engins and all 3 IRS systems. I wanted to Shut down APU, so I needed to connect external power... The problem occured! I pressed the LSK 1L key to make "Power mode" BY REQUEST, and pressed the LSK 1R key. But there were no changes on FMS. I did retry more than 10 times, but the outcomes were the same.So, I reinstalled PMDG MD-11X. And tried again... Hello fellow pilots.I recently bought the AOA training for the MD-11. On the first flight from EGLL to LEPA I noticed that my brakes weren't working on the taxi out to the runway. I followed the video tutorial correctly (as far as I'm aware) and have done many a start up in the MD-11 before without this issue. The brakes are being recognised in FSX, as I can see the red "Brakes" text appear at the bottom of the screen when applying the toe brakes. This also applies with the auto brake as well. I have searched the forum and found a few people with the same issues but can't find a fix.Any help is much appreciated.Thanks

After having had a few problems (unrelated to the MD11) I deleted my fsx.cfg and let fsx rebuild it. After this the MD11 still worked fine, but all of the addon liveries had gone. I tried doing a repair from the original installer which ran ok, but didn't put them back, I then tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Finally I tried downloading a new livery and installing that which also didn't work.This has got to be something simple - but I can't find it! - Help!ThanksGary Beers

ok so ive had the PMDG MD-11 for a while and i recently wanted to use it to make videos that i post on youtube and when i selected the plane it crashes my fsx every time. before all of you people start saying uninstall and reinstall ive tried that a few times and i just dont know what to do, it doesnt give me any information about what is causing it and its really starting to aggrivate me if any one can help. thanks

Hi all,I need a little help with the pop up panel (Shift + 2) which brings up all three DU's and any advice would be great and much appreciated. I always fly in VC but now have the need to be able to display all three Display units up at the same time, hence shift +2, however, when I do this all three DU's are Blank! Now if I switch to a 2d cockpit the 3 display units become active and if I make changes to the flight plan, increase/decrease view etc. the corresponding information is displayed on both the pop-up panel and the DU. BUT if I switch back to VC although the 3 DU's remain active they are frozen and do not show any updated information/data. Also if I make any…

Sometimes when on descent or anytime I want to manually set my heading that ATC gives you. The aircraft will not respond. Sometimes you switch from heading to track and back to heading and it does respond but sometimes it quits altogether. I still dont understand when I select a STAR and ATC wants you to turn off your STAR route for a heading they give you. This is when I select a ATC heading and the plane will not turn or turn very slowly. Should I cancel IFR and continue on my STAR arrival course since this seems smoother then listening to ATC as they give you the usual 90 degree ILS intercept approach?

hi..i have read the manuals, checked google, done the md11 tutorial egll lszh 4 times and no matter what i do i cannot get the fms to fly the route...im very used to the pmdg 747-400 and have no problems, but the md11 im really stumped..ive checked out a lot of you tube videos on the pmdg md 11 fmc.. i click on auto flight at the taxi, click on nav and at 500 ft click on autoflight and then at 1500 ft click on prof....any help is really appreciated...rgds ken hanson

Hey guys,I saw a few posts on the subject but none of them really answer my question. The manual says the MD11 will auto switch to TRU mode when passing north of 73 degrees latitude. How about when you're heading back south of 73? I guessed it would auto switch back to MAG? My ND remained in TRU mode the rest of the way. Thanks in advance for any replies. Flying FS9 on WinXP.Rob

Hello All,I'm always curious what others set up is for their flight sim. This is a fairly narrow question but if anyone has the Saitek Yoke and throttles, I would be very interested to know what your key assignments are for the MD-11. What works well for you? This is not an MD11 problem - I have it on other payware, but this is the plane I´m flying at the moment so here I am.........Lets take it as read that all weights and CGs are correct and that the FMC-recommended Stab Trim is in the box in the SD window. I take off and set Autoflight, and immediately hear "Satbilser Motion" warning and see that the horizontal stabiliser is far from horizontal and is moving - flicking up and down slightly - on its axis, and the plane is porpoising like crazy. If I touch the trim wheel or my assigned yoke buttons the AP disconects and the plane goes verical. If I wait out the climb and reach my set Alt the stabiliser is still not straig…

I'm a rookie at the helm of the MD-11. I taken enought flights now take I'm actually looking around the cockpit. On my last two flights I notice a message that states Tail Fuel FWD (Fuel). Looking ay the Systems Manual I see this message as being information only at that no imput is required by me. Am I correct on that analysis?Also when VOR1 And VOR2 are automated they always show the same readout, that is VOR1 is reading 115.30 so is VOR2. If I were to manually select VOR2 to read a different station, would I still need to reconfigure VOR2 back to automatic selection prior to landing?ThanksTom

Sorry, must be blind or what, but I didn't find anything about this in the manuals:Under what circumstances does the FMS switch between NAV1 and NAV2 as source for the lateral nav mode? As far as I understand NAV1 is driven by MCDU1 and NAV2 by MCDU2...And how can I force the FMS to use a specific NAV?

Don't have access to the manuals at the moment, and two things that confuse me came to my mind, so I ask here:1.With PROF ARMED on ground, the switchover to CLB thrust usually occurs automatically. On several occasions when I pushed PROF shortly after takeoff (AP off), PROF ARMED in magenta was announced, but the automatic thrust reduction didn't happen.2.Sometimes when hitting PROF, nothing happens (no FMA change, no mode change), just as if the FMS ignores PROF activation. To me, all systems look nominal, magenta line is on the ND, no warnings (maybe the FMS silently switched to NAV2 or so)...
