PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

I seem to be having a problem with viewing some of the letters on the FMC. When I have inserted the waypoints into the FMC, some of the text letters are partially visible. For instance, the waypoint CULVER will look like CUlVER with part of the "L" missing or blotted out. Any ideas as to what may be going on here?jack noulet

Hi, I wonder if anybody has experience in setting up the MD-11 (FS9 version) with A Saitek Flight Yoke System with separate Throttle Quadrant. I have got so far with the Tutorial Flight 1 but cannot get my head around the Horizontal Stabiliser setup. Think I need to allocate buttons on the Flight yoke but may be wrong. ??

I'm considering purchasing the MD-11 for FSX, and I just had a few questions:What performance data is included(optimum altitude, etc)? I'm not concerned about V-speeds, since I have TOPCAT.Does it have any serious open bugs affecting FSX with SP2 and Win 7.How well does the failure system work?

Hi,I'm running PMDG MD-11 on a Win7 64-bit computer. When I add a key in the keyboard command window (on the PMDG drop-menu), it seems to register fine... But back in the cockpit, nothing happens...Is this a known issue?Best regards,Mikkel E.

Everyone,I need help in creating a livery, I do not have the software and most of all the skill to create my own liveries.I would like a fictitious FedEx livery where the the orange is replaced by the Custom Critical blue and the "Express" subtitle is replace with "Custom Critical". I am experiencing a continual proble in amending altitudes in the MD11 MCP flight plan.When I put in a new altitude, eg for descent, in the flight plan (using Vert Rev) against an existing waypoint the whole screen freezes up and I have to control-alt-delete to remove the marked 'FSX not running' in the task manager . I fare no better when I try enetering eg 250/50 directly into the flight plan window,.I think this issue has come up before but I cannot find a solution.in the forum.I am using Vista 64I would be grateful for advice on this matter,Best wishes,John Morgan

HiI recently got back into Flight Simming after taking a long break playing Aion, I've recently been flying the PMDG MD11 in conjunction with AOA's MD11 Training which I must say is an awesome product to go with your MD11.The problem I have is after landing on the runway and turning off the Autopilot I get this annoying sound saying Autopliot along with some annoying beeps, this constantly repeats over and over. The question I have is how do I turn off this annoying autopilot alerting sound thereby silencing the cockpit apart from the sounds of the engines and the usual ambience u get inside a aircrafts cockpit? I have no idea why I waited so long to purchase this product. I did make a small number of errors on the first flight, but all correctable while either in flight or through saved segments of the flight. My most costly error was on final approach. On takeoff you load a number of custom VOR, ILS and NDB names and later after flying the SID you return to the MCDU NAV RAD page and clear them. I missed clearing the ILS/CRS entry. On final approach the aircraft could not load the final ILS setting because I had failed to clear the earlier setting. So I just waved to the gathering crowd below as a flew over the Zurich Airport at 4000 ft. Went back a studied the tutorial a…

For some reason every time I load FSX/MD11 & start up the load manager I can not send it to FSX I run win-7x64 & have a pic below. Anyone with some suggestions would be great.Thanks, Eric

I have to restart my engines every 5 minutes, doing a flight from YYZ to MEM, the engines shut down a FL340 Im now at FL240 with a TAT of -11C and an outside of -35C my fuel temp is showing -9C and I use the FMS cheat of setting the temp to -58C and Im still getting engine shutdowns ENG1,2,3 OIL PRES LO are the only warnings Im getting and I don't have any failures enabled. This was happening earlier in the day aswell when taxing on the ground, I have been flying this bird since 09 and have never seen so many shutdowns, Im using ASE for weather.

Hi all,If I attempt to autoland the MD11, everything goes fine until after touchdown when the rudder suddenly goes full left or full right. This would be ok if it didn't make taxing the aircraft so difficult. The rudder can be centred with the joystick, but when the pressure is released it's back to full left or right again. If I land the aircraft manually flying the ILS then everything is fine, it only happens if I attempt autoland.I'm sure others have already said it, but what a fantastic aircraft. The other aircraft in my hanger are decidedly dusty now!!David.

I was surprised that when I entered the RNP approach to KPSP (Palm Springs) 13R into the MCDU, the magenta line was perfectly drawn on the ND according to the approach chart. I tried the same with the opposite runway direction 31L, but the result was disappointing (narrow curve, bypassed waypoints etc.). I changed the STAR file to overfly the RNAV waypoints, but the magenta line then was laid out in a zig zag pattern, there were no smooth curves.I guess the missing piece to form an RNP approach to 31L is "arc to fix" or what it's called so that the MCDU would produce a line that corresponds to what's on the approach chart.I know that RNP isn't implemented in the MD-11 (is…

Ok, I just purchased the MD-11 and I am working my way through the first tutorial. My question is when do you activate the FMS SPD button that is located on the FCP. After reading and searching the tutorial I found no refereance to when it is approriate activate that button.ThanksTom

I know from the past that there need to be waypoints between origin and destination so that the MCDU flightplan sequencing doesn't crash FSX. But I have still situations where crashes occur, the f-pln page flickers shortly before this happens. Does anyone know what to avoid to not provoke a crash? Last time this occured when I hand flew towards the first waypoint, not following the straight magenta line from the origin airport. FSX crashed when the plane was in the near vicinity of the first waypoint.

Hey guys,I've been running normal view since I first started flying the MD11 even though I have a wide screen monitor. I decided to try wide screen since I've never done so before. Is the empty space above and below the displays normal? I can always go back to normal view but just wanted to ask. I don't know if my eyes are messing with me but the pic looks like it is on a non-widescreen monitor. I'm using a Dell 22in widescreen.Thanks,Rob

Hi all,I have a problem with my FMS.After a 2000ft descent enroute (with 5 hours to go (EHAM-SBGR) to avoid turbulence, my FMS entered descent mode. also I received the insufficient fuel warning.How can I tell the FMS to return to cruise mode like it should?Best regards,Rico.

MD-11 FSXI can set up the failures (I'm setting one per 10 hours) in the PMDG addon menu, and if I go straight back in the setting is still there. If I shut down and restart FSX though the setting is cleared. Is there a way to make this setting "stick" between sessions?ThanksGaryGary Beers

Am I the only one who thinks MCDUs on modern aircraft appear very „primitive“ in comparison to other advanced aircraft systems?Many times I get myself in problems when entering a star, then changing it upon atis or atc instructions, deleting discontinuities, whatever, but in the end the magenta line forms some psychedelic ornaments and curves not even a humming bird could follow, ha, ha, ha.Before you tell me to go study the manual some more, my point is: with today's technology, couldn't the FMC interface consist of a 12'' (or more) touchscreen with drag&drop, multiple selections and deletions with graphic (windows like) interface, instead of this out-of-date line ed…

It says in the Flight OPS Manual to use Anti-Ice if the temp is below 6C or if the Ice Detected light goes on. If I am flying at FL40 and my OAT is -24C but the Ice detected light isn't on should I run the system, and do most real flights run anti-ice when they are CRZ from point a to point b. will running the system without the ice detected light hurt the plane or expend more fuel. I'm probably over thinking this!
