PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

If BLST fuel is defined, does this change ZFWCG/TOCG (maybe because pumps start to shift fuel around)? If so, where do I get the new values needed from?

  2. Started by ahinterl,

Ref.: FMS.10.21 Section "Note: None of the calculations of weight data account for ballast fuel[...]".My understanding is that when BLST fuel is defined I need to increase ZFW by the amount of BLST fuel (the formula ZFW = TOGW + TAXI - BLOCK changes to ZFW = TOGW + TAXI - BLOCK + BLST).Am I correct when I say that TAXI is added to ZFW because of the assumption that in the "worst" case, (almost) all of it could remain in the tanks?

  3. Started by ahinterl,

What exactly is the FINAL/TIME value? What is it needed for? What about the relationship with 1500 ft?

  4. Started by ahinterl,

I just need to set up a test environment on my laptop (FSX + the MD11) so I can do my research when travelling to/from work by train, so for the time being I depend on the help of the fellow simmers around here :(.I'm still not sufficently familiar with the weight init page:1.Does UFOB equal BLOCK-BLST (reflected on LSK3R; value seems to come from FUEL INIT page LSK; FMS.10.25)?I ask this because in the FMS manual downloadable from smartcockpit.com, there's a weight init page with a BLST value (LSK3R) defined where BLOCK and UFOB (LSK1R) both have the same amount.2.FMS.10.21 there's a note that "None of the calculations of weight data account for ballast fuel[...]". Does …

Another one about fuel:The manual isn't too informative what fuel amounts to ALTN mean in detail: The fuel required from a certain position (e.g. holding fix) directly to the ALTN, or the distance from DEST to ALTN?

Had a strange situation yesterday: During a test flight around KPSP, CRZ ALT was 9000, I flew her to 9000 by hand (NAV and PROF engaged, A/T engaged), levelled off and engaged the A/P with AUTOFLIGHT. For no apparent reason, the automatics initiated a 3000+ fpm descent. I switched the A/P off, arrested the descent, started a manual climb, pulled the ALT knob and engaged AUTOFLIGHT again. This time, a perfect CLB to CRZ ALT was performed. When level, I hit PROF. The altitude window of the FMA showed HOLD 9000 (in magenta? Can't remember, but guess so since A/P was on). What indicated at this point whether PROF was active? I for my part wasn't sure (Boeings show VNAV at leas…

Does the MD-11 show KCAS on the speed tape, or KIAS (or something different)? Since the values for these units at a given airspeed seem to be pretty close to each other, is it important to distinguish between them?

  8. Started by ahinterl,

Is the OAT temperature on the TAKEOFF page LSK3R (manual FMS.10.27) the same as on the CLIMB FORECAST page LSK5R (manual FMS.10.31)? If so, why is it required to enter it twice (i.e. the value from the TAKEOFF page not forwarded to CLIMB FORECAST)?

So, I love this plane. I've been flying it for months now and I can't get enough. However, a weird thing has started happening. When I try to fly a coupled ILS approach, the plane acts normally except for the fact that when it is stabilized on the localizer its almost always 1 to 2 dots off to the right! If I let it autoland, it puts me in the dirt, or at least half off the runway. Its consistent at all airports i've tried it at. Obviously something is corrupted, but I'd like to avoid a reinstall. Any ideas? Chris

Hey Guys, recently i bought the MD-11 for the FSX. Unfortunately i have a problem with the options. If i go into the PMDG options in menu-bar, i can change every option (for example set IRS-system to 15 seconds or change weight indicators to KG) but if i klick the OK-Button, the previously set options are not included. So if i go back to the options, every values are standard. So i can´t change any option. It would be really great, if someone could help me.Greetings of the cold GermanyJannik

Hi guys,Since my MD11 (FS9 and W.7 32bits) was behaving a bit erratically, I decided to perform a fresh reinstallation via PMDG with an extension ticket.BUT I did precisely WHAT I wasn't supposed to !!Means, some months ago, as per some forums recommendations, I moved FS9 and all components to secondary disc and ERASED manually what was left to original SSD main drive. Everything worked properly for months and recently noticed erratic behavior.PMDG not listed anymore in Configuration Panel programs. When I try to perform installation of recently downloaded file from PMDG, I have on installshield wizard "installation cannot continue. your registry does not show a valid FS9 …

Every since I downloaded and installed the MD-11 last January from time to time I see spot views like the one below. This has happened on two different computers with 3 video cards - Nvidia GT 220, Nvidia GTX 285 and Nvidia GTX 480. The issue was more prevalent with the GT 220 (maybe once out of every ten flights). With the other two cards it has occurred four or five times since last April. This issue does not effect anything having to do with the flying of the plane. Back when I was using the GT 220 I have used autoland looking like this. If I see this in maybe the first two hours I can correct it by pressing the Esc button, and then click on continue flying when that…

Hi all.Just finished an 8+hr hop from EHAM - TNCM.For once everything went and worked perfectly for me.FS9 stayed stable throughout.Activesky weather was kind, average headwinds for flight around 35kts.Screenshot program actually took some decent shots, more on this later in Screenshot forum.MD-11 flawless, as usual. All the above meant some free time to explore the cockpit and I saw some additions on the panel and overhead that got me wondering. The Event Manager button on the main panel and the PA com panel on the overhead. They don't do anything for me here, yet all are working buttons on the panel. Were they designed in from the start with FS2Crew in mind?8+ hours gave a …

I seem to be too stupid to comprehend the term RNP. Though I've read several articles about it in the web, I'm still not able to tell how it is implemented in the MD-11 and how I can use it. So, I ask for "enlightenment", please. From what I understand, RNP is an "advanced" form of RNAV. RNP is "performance based navigation (PBN)" and bound to RNP numbers that define the required performance of the onboard equipment. So far, so good, but from where do the RNP values stem (navigation database?), do I see a difference between pure RNAV and RNP navigation, or better, what tells me either of these modes is used, and is the role of the ANP value the factor that determines when R…

I'm still fascinated by the complexity of the MD-11 and still in the process of discovering all the secret it has in its bag of surprises. So, I have two questions about LSAS:1.I remember to have read in this forum that during manual flight, LSAS can be temporarily disengaged by pressing and holding the AP OFF button. Is this correct? I didn't find anything about that in the manuals (I'm not good in searching :(), can someone please provide me with a reference to the source of this information?2.In what situations would one disengage LSAS at all (I don't mean emergencies)?

Hello every one could you please give me your opinion on how much diferent is to flight the md-11 from the 747 I'm really hoping I can buy the MD but the price is kind of high betwen $70 & $80 usdl. I only payed $30 for the 747 is the MD that much better to make it worth as much. Thank you all. Saul

I did a lot of testing to find out when and how the autobrakes work for me. So far, it looks quite good, but I have two questions:1.From what the manual describes, I conclude that below 80 kts, ABS RTO mode becomes active when: -) RTO is set on the ABS selector and -) ground spoilers deploy.Spoilers deploy below 80 kts when autospoilers are armed and 2 out of 3 throttles are moved to reverse. So, if the plane doesn't move at all, with autospoilers armed and ABS set to RTO (and no parking brake set or manual braking of course), shouldn't ABS become active and the spoiler handle move downwards as soon as at least two throttles are put in reverse thrust? Doesn't work with t…

Hey guys, I bought the PMDG MD-11 a couple of weeks ago and actually I am very impressed by it, but however I do have a big problem with the sound.Everytime I switch to the exterior view and afterwards back to the 2D cockpit or to the virtual cockpit the sound has changed into a "funny" but nerving rumpling. After switching only one time to the exterior view there is no way to fix it, except restarting Flight Simulator (2004).So I can not use the exterior view properly.Does anyone know how to fix this problem?? :(

I was going to fly the MD-11F on an RNAV approach into Tegucigalpa-Toncontin (OK, this is crazy, but that is another story). The MCDU did indeed have the RNAV approach to Rwy02 so I selected it. There was one field which requested an input of a MIN PROFILE. What does that mean? Does it mean that the vertical profile will only be respected/flown down to that altitude, and that below that altitude I have to control vertical navigation either by using V/S, open descent or hand-fly the plane? Thanks for any infos.

Hey guys, I'm forced to my first post here in the forum. I've liked to read in it, but now I am the technical victim... :Thinking:My problem: I was very happy with my MD-11 since I bought myself a new computer in excpectation of the NGX. So I had to reinstall the plane. This is the point where my troubles started. The autopilot is flying off track (one to two nm right off "the line") from time to time. I read the poste with the fsx registry repair tool and downloaded it. nothing happend...The secound thing is that the autopilot is flying freaking some time. For example: on the nd I see a left curve to fly. when the plane is ofer the point where the curve starts the autopil…
