PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

I've found info about go arounds in the manual but nothing about touch and go's...So hear is what I do, I'd like to know if this is anything approaching a correct procedure:1. Normal landing config but auto throttle off, speed brake not armed, autobrake off2. Normal VFR approach on the numbers3. Touch down, flaps up to 28, TOGA power rotate at VAPP+54. Positive rate, gear up flaps up to 15 on schedule maintain around 200 knots downwind5. Gear down flaps 28 abeam RW on downwind 6. Approach at VAPP7. Flaps down 35 on short final VAPP8 GOTO 1.Any suggestions on improvements or from real world procedures would be appreciated.Cheers

This issue is beginning to get annoying, especially when I end up head banging a hanger after the park brake trips off.CH rudder pedals assigned on rudder axis and differential braking.Method:1. set parking brake on2. a few seconds later, park break trips offIve tried playing with the null zone and sensitivity but this does not help. Happens on most aircraft types but most often on Md-11. I realize this is not a PMDG issue but would appreciate any suggestions......

Does anyone have this repaint as I have seen photographs of an MD-11 in Etihad Cargo colours? Or can anyone point me to one?Thanks in advance.

Hi!( part of this post does belong in this part of the forum, and another part doesn't )I'm having some fsx problems...I have a brand new computer: GeForce GTX 480, intel i3, windows 7...But when i run the pmdg md-11 with REX2 and Fly Tampa Kai Tak it's very very choppy... I read that Micorsoft based the perfomance of FSX on the power of your processor, is this true?If yes what processor would be needed to run FSX ( with add-ons of course ) smoothly?thanks

I try to find out what is the best speed to capture a LOC/G/S . Also is it possible that when approaching too fast that the LOC/G/S cannot get captured ?Thanks for your infoHerbert Werni

Hey guys I wanna attempt to start this MD-11 from the Cold and Dark but have no idea how to select the plane and load it without it loading all fired up and ready to go. Please help :(

The MD11 always seems to do a step climb 1000' above opt altitude. Is this normal?On a flight from EDDF to KLAX I entered 300/320/340/360/380 on the F-PLN INIT page as CRZ LEVELS. The last climb was to FL380 about 30 minutes ago. The ECON CRZ page indicated the Opt Altitude as FL 370. About 5 minutes ago it changed to FL375 still below the FL380 step climb comanded by the MCDU and FMS. Again, is this normal?Thank youMichael Cubine

Hi guys,I have an serious problem with the autopilot.when i engage the autopilot after takeoff it works normaly for an few moments but then it suddenly goes into an steep left turn en decends rapidly (only when on FMC flight Plan)how can i solve this? Hi,I have noticed that activating a TR unit failure causes the associated DC bus to be unpowered. This in turn causes the collapse of other systems supplied from that bus. The manual states that the DC distribution system has several DC ties to allow each TR to supply any of the DC buses, however this is not happening in the simulation, so might this be a bug?I've also checked the MEL and the real plane is allowed to depart with either TR-2A or TR-2B inoperative, whereas it is, of course, not allowed to be released with an inoperative DC BUS. This leads me to think that this is indeed some bug in the logic of the dc distribution system simulation.Best regards,Edu J. M.

Has anybody done this flight from London to Zurich as described in the tutorial and what was the result ?As far as I am concerned I have not achieved the flight having problems with the STAR and the landing.The tutorial suggests to extend flap 15 between the waypoints Gipol and TRA/10.When I do this I get a message "flap overspeed" after which I did the following :Retract flaps,deploy spoiler in order to reduce speed,then flaps 15 again.Still same message.After ignoring the message and leave flaps at 15 the message stops but I cannot land.For whatever reason the plane does not catch the G/S and I overfly the airport at 4000 feet.Can anybody give me some ideas of what is g…

I've set the cabin lights to shift+\ and I've also tried ` but the lights never come on? I've tried different liveries. Virgin, BA and default.Any theories?

I like to know if is safe to update the fms using navigraph, I loke on there site and there is a lot of complaits.

Hi together, After I bought the MD-11 for FS9 as well as the 747 etc I consider buying it for FSX as well.However I'm a bit concerned about the Frames of course! I tweaked the fsx.cfg to such an extend that with Aerosoft scenery installed and REX2 and ActiveSky evolution running I acheive far over 100FPS with the Standard Aircraft in flight and even 80 on Ground with all the scenery! So last night, around 10pm GMT I started up a flight and set "Cold and Dark Cockpit" only to find that I could not see any of the buttons or switches on the overhead panel. The labels weren't no help either as they would not show when hovering over a would be button.My question is,if your starting a flight at night how do you start from a cockpit with the electric off? In the default planes you can still see the over head panels.

Is there any difference between this aircraft when purchasing from PMDG directly or via aerosoft boxed product?Does anyone know what you get with the boxed product? i.e disc only, disc + manual, or quickstart guide, fmc guide. etcIs support via pmdg or if boxed product, support is at aerosoft?Will there a be a boxed discount like there is for the pmdg 747? I noticed there is not one available for the md-ll as yet.If precisionmanuals.com was no longer operating, domain was down or expired for example. Can anyone explain to me as to how I save a flightplan that I compile in the FMC? Not an imported flighplan,but one that I have inputted each waypoint,so that I can pull it back up for future flights.I thought by hitting the Copy Active in the Sec Flight Plan it'd be saved,but when I looked in the folder where the PMDG flightplans are stored,I could not locate it,e.g.YPPHFAJS001.rte,or OMDBEGCC001.rte,et al.Question is,where has that Copy Active gone,or alternatively,how can I save such a flightplan to pull later? I know I can do it with the 747-400,so I thought it'd be the same with the MD-11.Admittedly,I could be doing something wrong,so any help would be appreciated.

I noticed that when talking off the radio altimeter always stays at 200 and does not move up as I imagine it should.The manual says that once the radio altimeter shows 400 that some actions have to be performed.Question: why would the altimeter not increase as I expect it ?Thanks for your helpHubert Werni

Dear PMDG,now that it is confirmed that the NGX will feature a working EGPWS, I wondered if it was possible to retrofit it into the MD11?Maybe you could sell it as a seperate add-on, like the Real XP series of WXR. I was just browsing some flight deck photos and would love to see this on the PMDG MD11.Of course, if you feel generous, feel free to add this to a future service pack, if it ever is released.Kind Regards

I did read a lot about the ZFWCG in this forum. Some say, that it doesn't go out of range in real MD-11s, but it does here. Now, I don't know what's right and what wrong. But in the current situation. Is there a way to fly an empty PMDG MD-11 or not? I found out, that the CG shown in the flight display is moving forward, if I fill the aux tank. But with an empty (that means, no pax, no cargo) plane, I can't enter the ZFWCG in the FMS... what should I do? ... load some sand into the forward payload bay? ... to me it seems to be a bit strange...

I HAVE DOWNLODED MANY REPAINTS FOR THE MD 11 AND I HAVE FOLLOW ALL THE STEPS TO ADD THE REPAINT AND WHEN I SELECT THE PMDG MD 11 ON MY FLIGHT SIMULATOR THE AIRCRAFT ONLY OFFERS ME THE ORIGINAL PMDG LIBRARY AND THERE AR NO REPAINTS AVAILABLE TO SELECT , THIS IS HAPENING ON THE FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2004 (FS9) MY COMPUTER IS WORKING WITH WINDOWS 7 THANK YOU ALL FOR ANY HELP . I HAVE DOENLOADS FROM FLIGHTSIM.COM AND ALSO FROM THE MAIN PAGE OF PMDG WITCH AUTOMATICALY INSTAL THE SELECTED REPAINT AND IT DOESEN WORK EATHER.

I recently got a new computer,which is an I7920 9 gigs mem, Vista home premium 64 bit.My problem is that I can only save flights,i.e. in flight conditions,if I turn off UAC.This is somewhat of a concern,since it affects security.Are there any suggestions for a work around.Ron Service
