PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

Hi Guys - Just picked up the MD11 after years with the 747.Currently flying the tutorial as i type, but i have a really quick question if thats ok.How can i change the range of the ND display?I know its the basic of all basic question, but i cant find a dial anywhere! :( Thanks for your valued help!

Hello,I really had some trouble with this one. I did quite a bit of reading online and I believe I have a good understanding the procedure. I even found a link from here with some screenshots of the FMC but I was having trouble understanding it.Can anyone provide advice on setting up the FMC for an ARC DME approach into Honolulu for rwy 8L? I would like to hand fly the approach but I'm really curious about setting the FMC.Thanks!Chris K.

Hey i just bought a copy of The PMDG MD11 for FS9 and i installed one livery for the A/C it being the Fedex OC but now that i have tried to install 4 or 5 more livieries the installer completes the installation but the liveries do not show up in FS just the PMDG house liveries and the one fedex livery...........and all the liveries show up in the Aircraft.cfg file :( here are some specs on my system let me know if you have any suggestionsHP:p6120dual core Intel 2.60 GHZ processer4.00GB RAM Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64bit

When I am entering data in the FMS I get a message in the scratchpad saying "Max LW 207.7".I note that in the Weights page LW is already there at 246.0 in small type and cannot be changed.What am I supposed to do? I usually ignore it and clear the message.My autolands are just fine.ThanksKen Fairbanks

Hi all whenever I takeoff anywhere without entering a SID MD11 will 100% crash after about 1min after T/O. I do enter a rwy and get the green box to T/O. So frustrating. Please don't tell me to reinstall been there done that. Thanks :)

I wish to upgrade my monitor to take advantage of the widescreen configuration and would apprciate any advice on what sizes work well at what resolution, and what downside in performance or otherwie there may be. With FSX - Vista 32 I run a two monitor FS system (QX 6600 2.4 GHz - 8800 GTS) and use only the 2D mode: 21 inch Samsung for the main panel and a 19 inch Acer to display the console and MCDU pop up windows (both run at 1280 X 1024). I am considering a Samsung 30 inch widescreen with a resolution of 2560 X 1600. I have room for the 32 inch but the resolution is much less (1366 X 768) which may be cause for concern. I don't know. Wasn't sure where to post this, so put it here because I was involving the PMDG MD-11.I was going through my PMDG MD-11 sounds the other day and was listeing to some of the engine sounds. I came across one of the files that is the sound of the take-off power. Can't remember exactly, but i'm sure a few people have named it the "grind" sound I think... :( What I was wondering if it was possible to turn up the volume of a specific sound file (eg, the "grind") I've got the engine volume up to max in the FS itself but it doesn't really help here the engine sounds that nice unless I lower the other volumes to almost zero. Hi,I am now totally frustrated when flying long distance in md11. The flight will not save any of the flight plan/panel settings when actioned in mid flght.On using "msfs load saved flight" the md11 reverts to a situation just after take off with intial take off settings. This is even when the flight is several hours into a trip!Have tried all the usual repairs and reinstalled but no success. Can anybody help and suggest a way out?I run Windows 7 64, ati 5700 series card, 4gb memory.CheersValbiran

Hello,I have a question but difficult to explain.If I program a flight in the FMC of the 747 (I use exportfunction fsbuilt) it is always completely ok. Sometimes some discontinues, but stars and trans are always good programmed by the FMCIn the MD11 however, most of the time I have to reorganise the route when I get to the star. And if I use a transition it is sometimes a complete mess.(sometimes you have to fly 3 time over the airport)Is this normal. I mean is the FMC in the 747 beter or less complex so it gives always the right route and star?Or is the FMC in the MD11 more realistic. Do pilots have to correct the route in real life?Or maybe, can't I use the exportfun…

Don't laugh...I am a newbie with FMS on the MD-11...I will explain what I need to do and maybe someone can direct me to the correct page in the FMS manual that comes with PMDG excellent MD-11For example, I have programmed a flight from KIND to KMEM...I take off and about 45 minutes in flight I decide to switch and land in Louisville, Ky with new star and Runway approach. I attempt to erase the settings and it tells me "not allowed." I tried "Direct to" and fix which works. When I attempt to clear KMEM it still says "not allowed." I have attempted to erase all the waypoints between KIND and KMEM which it allows me to do before TOD but anything after that again "not allowe…

I thought I would post here first given how active this forum is. I just purchased TOPCAT and have been really enjoying the program. I'm a little curious about the fuel planner portion of it.This is for the MD-11. I'm doing a flight KMEM-PANCCargo: 103,638 LbsZFW: 334,634 LbsTotal Fuel: 125,000 LbsEstimated remaining: 31,770So I just took off and received an Insufficient Fuel On Board message on the FMC. It also mentions EFOB at 15.5If I haven't provided enough info, please let me know. Any ideas what the problem might be?ThanksChris K.

Hey all, it's been awhile since I have flown anything in FS due to seeding season then spraying on the farm. However now we're in kind of a lull and I've dusted off FSX. As per usual, when I get back into it I go for a few rounds with my Queen before I fly anything else, but today I dragged my MD-11 out of storage.I flew from VHHH to PANC, all went fine except for a problem I had a few months ago that I had forgotten about, at the beginning of the flight when I taxi to the runway for takeoff, the brakes work normal, I just use the #2 (I think, trigger button anyway) on my joystick. Has ANYBODY had a problem with all the engines shutting down at the same time just as you advance the throttle for taxi??? I have restarted the sim tonight 8 times at different airports and the same thing EVERY time!!!I am using the Saitek proflight yoke and throttle quadrant. :( :( :(

When flying long distances you're obviously not going to be around the whole time, in fact it would be nice to let it run overnight. However my PC (Win 7, Intel Quad Core 2.4 Ghz, 4Gb RAM) keeps going into hibernate mode and when woken up the flight reverts back to start. Can anybody suggest a workaround for this ? :(

When I advance the throttles to say 75% I do not hear any click sounds. Is there a setting for this? I have already pressed Autoflight, Nav and Prof before starting.YhanksKen Fairbanks

I have recently reinstalled my MD11 on a new computer,and notice at times the altitude display window on the MFD does not show the last two digits.I believe I have seen a thread on this before,but wonder if their is a fix for it?Ron

Hello,Could someone tell me if the EOSID / Custom SIDs section of the FMS is modelled in PMDG's MD-11.I understand they are not part of the standard Navigraph (EAG) database, however I have them all from my company and is it possible to load them into the database so they will display correctly in the FMS?I guess a work around is just to create them as normal SIDs and add them to the database allowing for the selection of the EOSID on the sec flightplan page..Anyway just curious from someone who knows more about the specific programming of the sim and these FMS procedures what is the best way to accomplish the goal of having custom and engine out sids available in the PMD…
