PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

Hi all,In my last flight it happened to me again. The plane gets a sudden speed-boost and goes too fast. Since I'm flying the auto-pilot the AP disables FMS speed and sets a safe, lower speed (in this case 350kts). The plane slows down, but the AP doesn't increase throttle when the set speed is reached. It remains idle until the low-speed protection kicks in. Pressing the "FMS Speed"-button, setting a different speed or switching to the other AP doesn't help.Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I'm making regular short flights and this seems to be the only problem I'm regularly encountering. Thanks in advance for any advice!Regards,Michel

Is there anyone willing to do a super simple repaint job for the fedex liveries and a model transfer?the first thing i ask is to change the EX to the Green Ground logo and also The Blue Custom Critical logo.and perhaps if its not too much to ask for GE and PW models on both of those? if not both then GE would be greatany one who can do this would have my appreciation for life, these two are impossible to find since of course FedEx doesnt have any such liveries. thanks againBrandon ElamPS Heres a couple of pics for my request.

During my last few flights, the first in the B744 and rest in the MD11 suffered a CTD. These were the first times I ran these two aircraft in FSX but everytime, it crashes during approach. First I was on Final to KSUX. It was the default airport and default scenery (minus FSGlobal) and running ASE, Ultimate Traffic2, and Radar Contact. The second time, I was approaching KJFK southbound. I was at my closest to the airport before i would turn around and line up. This one I thought might be the fact that I was running ManhattanX and FSDreamTeam KJFK. My computer was slowing up a bit. But then today, I was on final into EGLL and everything was running very smoothly de…

Hi all,I have just done a fresh install of W7 64bit. Updated all drivers. Clean install of FSX with acceleration. Only addon is PMDG MD11.My spec's: I7 920, 12GB Ram, 2x5970(crossfire disabled),CORSAIR 250GB SSD, EVGA X58 CLASSIFIED MB, CORSAIR HX1000W POWER SUPPLY. My problem is EVERY single time i go flying in PMDG MD11 FSX Freezes. One time I left it frozen to see if it would come right..... well after 2 hours I gave up! I have to do the Ctrl, Alt , Del to restart FSX. I have spent HOURS going over the AVsim etc formums trying to find an answer. I have followed most advance in formums but still FSX freezes. Most of the time it freezes after 1.5 hours. The following is …

MD11 Ferry flight incidentI'm away from my home PC for while so wondering if someone can test a real world FEDEX incident for me. The incident happened at PANC on a two engine ferry flight 'Engine 2 was shutdown' The aircraft was empty except for Ballast when the flight crew advanced the thrust levers for T/O the aircraft rapidly pitched up onto it's tail severely damaging the aircraft. When the investigators tried it in the LVLD sim the same thing happened. The cause was due to the light load and the lack of slight downward thrust normally generated by the #2 engine. I already know that the PMDG MD11 will pitch up onto it's tail if loaded incorrectly but not sure a…

Hello,I suppose this isn't just an MD-11 specific question but as that is the plane I'm mainly flying at the moment I'm mostly interested in if this would work well with the MD.As I have understood things the force feedback features in FSX is by default just some shaking when landing or getting the stick shaker before an imminent stall. Nice as that may be, what mostly interests me is a more realistic simulation of aircraft pitch trimming. There is an add-on called FS Force that would supposedly add some realism in this sense.I am not a real world flyer but from what I understood the trimming of a real aircraft goes like this: 1. push the yoke to acheive the pitch you wan…

Hi PMDG support !I recently bought your MD-11 v1.21 and B747 v 2.10.0040 , DVD boxed edition.First , I installed the B747 , that loaded without any major problem :( Then I installeld the MD-11 ..... :( As many other users the sim loaded with black gauges , + problems with the B747 (no active gauges) .After several uninstall , reinstall , repair install , reinstal c++, registry clean , etc.., I had a look to the files installed during setup .I found that PMDG_Simconnect_Ldr.dll had changed from version 10.0.61.355.40 to version 10.0.61.355.62 after MD-11 install.Just deleted the file , repaired B747 install and then ..... Hi, i was just doing a very short cargo hop from LFPG to EDDF when i encountered a (to me) unfamiliar problem.I was maybe 50 miles away from T/D and left the computer for a while certain the pause at T/D would make sure i wouldn't descend before i was back. When i came back however FSX wasn't paused and i was still at FL230 although i had selected 11000 in the alt window. The real problem or emergency rather happend later. Because as i had completely bust through any alt and speed restrictions i thought i'd reload the sim (cheating i know :( ) but when i did that the aircraft was overspeeding alot (might be REX loading new weather) and i had 1 level 3 alert "CABIN ALTITUD…

I'm relatively new to the MD-11 and flight planning but I already have stacks of paper charts surrounding me. This weekend I have been looking at two EFBs and would be interested in others experiences. They can only operate with FSX in window mode but with a second monitor that could be solved. Thanks for you input.Bill Buxton

I have relatively little experience with flightsim aircraft of this detail level, as a result I find myself falling behind the airplane in some high-workload phases of flight. I know this will improve with practice, but it got me thinking about the division of tasks in the cockpit.Would the real-life pilots care to share how the tasks are shared during the different phases of flight? Does it vary by aircraft, or is it fairly standard (barring unique aircraft requirements)? I've watched pilots in a B1900 before (love the open cockpit door!) and noticed things like switching which pilot has their hand on the throttles at various phases (V1 I assume, and maybe runway in sigh…

On a most recent flight from Louisville to Ontario, California engine after engine spooled down 3, 1, 2 in that order as I was on the dog leg to intercept the localizer for run 26l. I typically ignored such reports I considered erroneous when reading "Insufficient Fuel" for my flight. Nearly all payware add-ons I have report this and are wrong by several thousand pounds of fuel. So I got in the habit of ignoring it until this morning when that eerie silence fell and the FMS reported "Confirm engine loss of power" or something like that. I cried as I smeared myself and about 500,000 pounds of plane and cargo all over Ontario California.I have learned my lesson thanks to…

Hello,I've just finished the advanced tutorial for the MD11 and am really amazed with the quality of this add-on aircraft. It's really a wonderful feeling to have studied the plane for about 50 hours and still knowing that you have just learnt a tiny bit of all there is to know about it.Anyway, the descent on this flight went without any problems but I have noticed on other flights that I usually get the "ADD DRAG" message although I've entered the winds correctly in the FMC prior to departure (only on the INIT page - not manually for each waypoint in the FLT PLN). Getting the "ADD DRAG" message I deploy the spoilers but what I see then is that the ATS increases the thrus…

Hi all,I'm sure some of you have seen the ITVV video of Martinair MD-11 from Sciphol Amsterdam to Palma. I really enjoy the video and I would like to do this same flight and exact senarios using the PMDG MD-11. I tired to get as much information as I could from the video but there're a couple of things that's not mentioned. That is the gross weight of the aircraft and the amount of fuel. From the video, the lady says a ZFW from 164.7 and was based on 296 passengers. But why does she say FROM 164.7? Was that not the exact ZFW? I tried to set the ZFW to 164.7 in the load manager but I had to take out some of the cargo or freight. Of course, I'm using the kilograms unit beca…

The MD11 that I am using still has the original database from 2008. I would like to update this using NAVIGRAPH & NAVData-Service. Their website indicates this is a self-extracting file. What does that mean? It it a Zip file or exe file? Does it automatically go to the correct folders. Should the new data be merged with the old or completely repace it? They indicate that the old file should be backed up. Is that in the NavData and sidstars folders under Microsoft Flight Simulator/PMDG? Will this download also take care of the PMDG 747-400X amd the 747-8X?Thank youMichael Cubine

Hi,I am new to using the MD-11 which seems fantastic, I am trying to setup similar flights to that of the basic tutorial like EGLL to EDDF for example. To keep things simple I used the same SID (dvr) as used in the tutorial when leaving Heathrow but of course I don't know what STARS I should be using for my destinations. FSBuild seems to claim in helping with this but does it save flightplans in the correct format for PMDG? and would it solve my STAR problem? Is it up to date enough? I notice it seems to be fairly old now (2006) I think. My flights will all take place in Europe. I have tried Simroutes but of course that does not give SID STAR info and also does not ha…

Today I have flown from Shanghai to Los Angles. When I disengaged the Autopilot at 10000ft,I found that I cannot have my elevator controlled,it seemed that the elevators was in the situation of Pitch Hold. After several tries,I simply shut off the LSAS and got elevators work properly. Same problem have happened to me weeks before, when I flew from Heathrow to Nice, and I used the same method to solve the problem. Another thing I must say is that my joystick does have some problem of banking left, but so far I haven't got any difficulties in Longitudinal control.
