September 5, 201015 yr I have just watched Chris Palmers 'VOR' training video as part of the PMDG MD-11 training and this guy is an expert! Flying into Zurich takes on a completely new experience. It's a credit to PMDG and their superb job of developing this simulation and it's people like Chris that show us so much more, that lies hidden to the average user.I extremely urge people that love this aircraft, to buy this addon. It is money well spent and I am saying that even though I recieve a credit on my meagre pension. Dave Taylor
September 5, 201015 yr I agree Dave, I loved the 747 DVD's and still watch them often. There is no substitute in my opinion. The only thing I still would have liked to see, was Chris put the MD-11 material on Dvd. I love the high quality streaming videos, but I prefer to watch them on my TV :) i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
September 5, 201015 yr Why is it money well spent? I can take this bird off, fly it to cruise and land it on a dime, without any input from AOA. It's still the most exciting addon there is for FSX. Why do I need this DVD?CheersRichard Richard Wells

If this post isn't of interest to you then perhaps you should just move on. I could land the 747 on a dime too but unless you are an actual real life captain of the MD-11/747-400 then you will learn something new. Just like the tutorials credit PMDG's product, so does AOA's indepth discussions. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
September 5, 201015 yr Sorry, ignore all of this, I've had too much to drink. I love all you MD-11 guys, I really do! Whoops, Richard Anthony Wells. Richard Wells

I could fly this plane. The videos shows many things you know, but also tips, trics and information I didn't know.So for me (but I like the MD11 very much) it wasn't a waste of money.Eric Eric van Dorp
September 7, 201015 yr Author Hi Dan,But it is possible to download the files.EricEricYes, you can download the video's. Dave Taylor
September 8, 201015 yr Yeah, but for me it's not the same. It's a good 2nd place though and surely better than nothing, I just rather not EVER use Adobe Encore again if I can help it and rather just buy the dvds than create them myself. I'm sure the cost is too high for Chris to deal with this time around or maybe there isn't time at the moment. It's easy for me to think he's losing lots of money not having Dvd's but I of course don't pay his bills either. To add to what's great about these, even if you know the MD-11 inside and out, there will be a time you go without using it for a while (perhaps after the NGX release I imagine) and they make great refreshers. That's what I love about dvd's. I can watch them on the couch or listen to them while I'm doing other things. I have had to relearn all of my PMDG collection several times and they just make it easier for me. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
September 8, 201015 yr I tend to agree with the DVD point of view. I'd buy them in a heartbeat. The MD-11 is certainly one aircraft where I feel I still have much to learn, though I'm going to wait and see if he ever makes a DVD option available. If not, I'll just reluctantly pass on this one. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
September 8, 201015 yr Author Gavin mate, they are worth having and you can always copy the download to disk?Chris did it this way to keep the cost down. I have learnt so much more from all his work. Dave Taylor
September 25, 201015 yr Can anyone that has bought the MD-11 training tell me if the only option was a monthly fee? It seems like that's the only option unless his site is under going maintenence or updates which I hope is the case.I already voiced my opinion/preference of Dvd, but really think Chris is making a huge mistake if the only option is monthly (my opinion). I've been trying to buy it but the new web site has a lot of breaks and is way too "bloggy" and hard to follow. To top it off I'm still waiting for password reset for their forum otherwise I would surely have posted this there but in the meantime figured I would post here (MUCH faster anyway :wink). i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
September 25, 201015 yr Commercial Member Can anyone that has bought the MD-11 training tell me if the only option was a monthly fee?Dan - the MD11 training is a one off fee of $44.00. Chris has made a decision not to do a DVD release for this one. It's expensive, and requires a whole different infrastructure for shipping etc. I agree completely that the website navigation is a big issue, and we are in the process of resolving that. The product was released provisionally on 1st September, then closed again on the 5th. We will be opening it up finally on 31st October, once it has been finished completely. It's taking great shape, and we've had very positive feedback from the members on board so far! Nick Collett i5 2500k @ 4.4GHz, GTX 480, 8GB Corsair 8-8-8-24, 300GB WD Velociraptor, Corsair HX850W
September 25, 201015 yr Thanks Nick, I am more than familliar with Chris's choice and reasoning behind the dvd, thanks. I have defended his decision even though I wish it were different. But anyway, the question was about getting the MD-11 training and glad to see it is available other than a monthly fee, but am actually sitting here laughing that it won't be available for over a month after it was already released.Just my opinion here, but you there is no reason for that disruption in sales and why someone would do that to themselves makes no sense to me. A temporary web site while you're working on the main one perhaps?Sorry, a little venting there and I am also a tad older and have been doing web design for too many years to count so guess I just don't get it.Also, if Chris should read this, please check your emails. I have one I just sent via your web site, one from you old site over a year old now and several posts from months ago on your forum. It's ashame there seem to be less and less answers to those that don't or won't "Blog".Thanks, i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
September 25, 201015 yr Commercial Member Dan the Man,Thanks for your candor and being reasonable about this situation. My reasoning behind 'shutting down' the training is that it isn't 100% complete at this time (as of Sept 25, 2010. Expected to be completed Oct 31 2010). This wouldn't be such a huge issue but we really wanted the initial lot of members to be onboard with A. it wasn't done and B. to help us improve things along the way. Each and every MD11 member will tell you that there have been hiccups so far and it was probably worth not doing a full and record breaking release (not that it really would be record breaking). Most of those hiccups have been fixed and things are working really well now. Nick and I were just talking about how great all the small but important improvements have been, and how much it has affected the overall perception of quality that is so important. The content is REALLY great, but we want to make sure that the experience matches as well. So our #1 focus was to limit the amount of members that were exposed to the 'growing pains' of having to put up with all the site improvements we are making in addition to completing the MD11 Training. Once the MD11 Training is released, it'll stay released and will remain accessible. If you'd really like to get your hands on it knowing full well it's not 100% done, but also that we have some awesome content in there, then send Nick a PM and he will shoot you the link to purchase it and get in. We'll make a special exception in this case for "DAN THE MAN!" (As a side note, I was a Dan Marino fan as a boy and still am. Dan the Man is a familiar saying to me ;) ) I can't be in all places at once. If you see someone is having an issue with an Angle of Attack product, or something that should be brought to my attention, please message me. I want everyone to have a stellar experience with AOA. Thanks so much! Chris Palmer Founder/President Angle of Attack
