    Hi all, Returned to my MD11 recently after a short spell away, checking out A2A's products and PMDG's 737, it still amazes me how the MD11 compares to these newer products! Well went for a flight today and landed in the dark, something I try to avoid if possible! I noticed the landing lights didn't illuminate the runway! yes they are set in FSX to do so. I started reading through some of the posts here, which said that REX can effect the MD11's lights. Ah I thought, check other aircraft first, yep it's just the MD11!   2. Hi folks, wow, I fly the PMDG MD11 right from the beginning, but not before now I turned the QNH-QFE knob to QFE and found that the altitude tape changes... Well, I was surprised not to see it reading zero... Currently I 'am' in FAJS (with the Martin Air MD11F). Local weather report reads 1023hPa, field elevation is 5550 ft... But the real pressure in that field elevation seems to be 835hPa (at sea level unreachable Lows), by then the altitude tape reads zero. (And the water boils at 90°C...) Clap, clap, everything fine!

    Like the topic says, my MD11 isn't following the SID I programmed into the FMS. The display clearly shows the track the plane is to follow and yet it turns in the opposite direction. It eventually finds the track and continues to follow the rest of the plan. Any ideas? On another note, I installed the latest FMS update from Navigraph (AIRAC 1209) and I've noticed that the location of SID's and transitions around Jamaica seem to be changed. Has anyone else had an issue with the update?

However, I got the feeling that a "short summary" of the essential basics out of the two tutorial flights is missing. I checked the web accordingly but couldn't find any of rather basic nature (that also explains some details, instead of listing the to do's like "CHK ENGINE / P-NF").     I bought the -NGX last week and have not been able to fly anything else. I was so impressed with that add-on that I took the plunge and got the MD-11 and FS2Crew (both currently downloading). What can I expect with the MD-11 vs the -NGX? Does it come with a set of tutorials like the -NGX's? I've read the MD-11 can be a tricky beast to fly by hand, will it be that much more of a challenge moving from the NGX? Does the FMS have the capability to take control from take-off to landing like the -NGX? Is it fair to compare both products like this? When is the 777 coming out?     Hi, There is apparently a computational error with the RTA page in that it can't handle times after 2400 hrs. e.g. I had an oceanic entry waypoint that was predicted to be reached at exactly 0000. I attempted to tell the aircraft to arrive at this point at 0005, however, it assumed 0005 was IN THE PAST, and so set the required speed to M0.851 (fastest permissible). I then also got the message RTA ERROR. I tried to enter 2405 to tell it that it is in the future, but that was met with INCORRECT FORMAT. I entered 2359 and it then predicted M0.810. It would seem therefore that RTA is useless for any time after midnight, as it can't handle the fact it i…

    Hi, I'm trying to find out how to compute ballast fuel, and under what CoG configs it is required. If I load the aircraft with a forward CoG, according to the LM, at all fuel loads the CoG remains in limits, so this is OK.... I'm guessing the issue arises when everything is unloaded? In the sim, unless we start empty, the aircraft can never be unloaded and thus it is not an issue. Am I in the ball-park? The result being we don't actually need ballast (excluding the case where CoG goes out of limits due to fuel burn)? Best regards, Robin.

    Hello. I buyed the md-11 combo at the release of plane some years ago. This have been my favorite since, and almost the only plane i flying. I started in fs9, cause my pc at that time could not run fsx. I had fsx installe on that pc, but it only worked with very low settings, and then the md-11 worked good in fsx too. I have now built a new pc with power eneogh to run and i innstalled win7 64 bit. The problem that occure is that when i innstall the md-11 everything looks like it innstalls just fine whem the innstaller runs, but when i start up fsx and the md-11 it is not innstalled correctly.     Ive been having a few weird flights when it comes to the autopilot following the speed restrictions in the FMS. To the point that I have to take off the FMS setting, and put in the manual speed mcp dial and set it. What part of 250/10000 does it not understand? I ve actually had this a couple times in the NGX too. This is on the climb and descent. I can understand a descent not meeting it if you have some weird profile, but this was standard and nothing special going on. There is no way it should be accelerating past 250 under FL100 if thats what I have set. ATC wasnt very happy to say the least even though I caught it only 10knots over.   11. Dear Md11-Drivers – I‘am helpless: Currently I’am working on my take off techniques in FS9. Everything worked as it supposed to be. But for two days now I encounter a very strange problem: RWY 34L at KSEA: Immediately after getting airborne (Radio Alt. 4-5 ft.) take off mode is automatically replaced by heading mode, on the FMA Control Window Roll Control Mode changes from Take off to a white "Heading 019" reading although heading knob on the FCP is set to the proper runway heading of 341.     I've just started flying the MD-11 after a few weeks of flying something else and realized that I cannot hear the engines in the VC but I can hear them fine outside. I can't remember if I could hear them before so the question is should I be hearing engine sounds in the cockpit and if yes, any ideas why they would stop?

  15. Hey, first i want to say sorry for my English. My Problem is, that always when i am flying the MD11, the Horn is going forward and backward. It is like the MD11 would have a fly by wire. It is very hard to land the MD11 manual, because the elevator is lagging, for e.g. if you make a minimal movement at joystick the elevator is going to the maximum and stays there until go move against it. If i am pressing "Z" and stay on it, then i can fly the MD11 perfeclty. But i a stop pushing it the problem comes back. Do you have any ideas ? I hace a Saitek Cyborg X and reinstallation dind't solved the problem. Best regards Matthias

  17. Hi, Been flying the MD-11 like crazy the last 24 hours, and still can't figure out a way to do this............ During descent to the airport ATC assign me an arrival (STAR), but no runway. The runway assignment is quite late, which is not a problem, except that when I select the approach, it insists on re-entering the already active STAR! I end up with: <ACT STAR> --- DISCO --- <DUP STAR> <APP> --- END --- How can I prevent it adding the STAR a second time? Best regards, Robin.

    What would I be doing (perhaps improperly in FMC setup) that would cause the ND route track to loop or show a strange pattern (other than the acceptable straight line) between waypoints especially early in the route near the departure.   19. Greetings all, I've recently started re-learning the MD11, in time for CTP. I seem to have issues with the "pitch" control, using the keypad (numbers 2 and 8). It simply doesnt do anything. The other numbers (4 and 6 for ailerons, 1 and 7 for stab) work fine, and all of the nmbrs, including 2 and 8 work fine with the 737NGX. Any solutions? On a related note, in your opinion which is a better yoke, the CH or Saitek? One of these days I'll spend the money, but until then I'm forced to using the keyboard. Many thanks.

    Hi, For some reason the panel won't initialize. Where the VC instruments should be, it is completely missing/transparent. 2D is clickable, and the PMDG menu appears to work, but the aircraft doesn't do anything.     Hey there, I installed the PMDG Md-11 some weeks ago and there's still the same problem. When I open the file bar and click on (e.g) maps and go back to the flight, everything is black. When I switch the view there is no difference. I need to do the complete flight again.. it's on the flight and on the ground. It's the same with my iFly 737NG. I need help! Thank you! Fabian

    Flew a long loooong haul in the MD-11 and when I'm 2 miles out FSX has ctd. I've flown the md11 many times before without this error. Actually flew it yesterday just fine and with no apparent changes to my system it just occured. Faulting module name: TCAS2v7.dll, version: 1.1.6.0, time stamp: 0x4633aecd In the .ini file I checked the pmdg support desk and it says "The version should be 1.1.6.0" which I have, and I also searched the forums and haven't found really found an answer yet. Help greatly appreciated Thanks
