PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

On the FMC, at the Progress screen, the DTG is always counting up and not counting down. As a result, it always tells me that I do not have enough fuel. How can I correct this? Thanks coldhoist

Does anyone know if there Is a "relationship" between programmed step climbs and the opt/max flight levels presented by the FMC? The reason I ask is as follows: I program a number of cruize levels at "init" phase and hold at each flight level by using altitude, as I think is described in the manual. However, I notice that (according to the flight plan) the FMC keeps on wanting to push the flight level higher than the flight level shown as OPT in the performance page of the FMS. Any input would be gratefully appreciated, even if it is to point out to me I have being doing it wrong all these years. Regards Stuart

  3. Recently purchased OPUSFSX and installed the new FSX update to REX OD (released in November). On long haul flights, the FMC is disengaging with wind shifts. This has happened with both OPUSFSX and REX. Anyways to prevent this from occurring. I like both Wx engines, but need to leave the MD11 to fly itself in real time on transpolar routes (Dubai to Anchorage, for instance).

Hi, on page FMS.100.26 it's described how th get a parallel offset of an existing flightplan in the FMS, but in my PMDG-MD11 there is no offset option on 5L when I want to do an parallel offset at a waypoint. Could someone help me with this topic. Is there an option in the PMDG menue ? Thanks a lot for your help. Regards Uwe

Hi, After using the MANF DRAIN, I proceeded to do a consecutive flight. Whilst I was on the ground I played with the fuel system a bit more, and discovered that once you've used the drain system once, there is no way to reset it without restarting the sim??? Best regards, Robin.

Hi, Not a big deal, but I noticed that when sat on the ground and the IRS is not ON or aligned, that any airport pair I enter in the FMS computes (in some cases?) from PPOS and not based on the position of the FROM airport entered. e.g. Sat at Heathrow, entering EGLL/SCEL shows a distance of somewhere around 6500 nm. If I pick an airport further north as the FROM, it is computed as the same distance, even though the airport is some 500 miles further north! I thought it was interesting. Best regards, Robin.

GRRRRRRRRRRR............ I pre-flighted an 11 hour flight between Manchester (EGCC) and Anchorage (PANC). The routing was: EGCC POL5R POL UP17 TIPTA UM82 RIVOT UM89 ALOTI M89 ROXET Z108 TUXOT Z101 GUBAV Z156 AMIMO P80 LATEN B483 PETAG B954 GIKSI G7 LURET R351 KUTAL B233 GAL PANC During climb out I had a fuel tank pump fail in #2 tank, but that is inmaterial as I had these types of crash under FSX without failures. During climb out, I changed the alternate airport in the INIT page from PAFA to EGCC. I added a STAR (ILS RW23R) to the alternate flight plan, cleared the DISCOs and removed PANC from the start of the alternate FP, and added a HOLD at RO…

Has anyone tried the add-on Wet Operations from Supression Flight? It looks cool, but apparently you have to change some parameters in the aircraft.cfg and that worries me a bit considering that this is a 'sensitive' area in PMDG aircrafts.

Hi, Is this function available at all in the FMC? It only ever appears blanked out. In the FMS manual, it states under "Advanced Flight Planning": However, no mention is actually made, and the option is apparently disabled in the FMS? I'm guessing a feature that was planned but never made the cut. :( Best regards, Robin.

  16. I am re-acquainting myself with the excellent PMDG MD11. It’s an enjoyable challenge compared with the more familiar (to me) Boeing style FMC/FMS and MCP navigation. I’ve been looking at the FMS manual and found some good info on creating new waypoints while en-route, as well as a “direct-to” subsequent waypoint in the flight plan. What I can’t seem to find is how to go “direct to” the next waypoint after a heading change from the current leg. Say I am flying from ABC to XYZ on my flight plan, and ATC says “fly heading 080” which takes me off my intended route. Some time after that, ATC says “Fly direct XYZ, rest of route unchanged”. In the Boeing style FMC I would …

  17. Hi everyone, I'm running the boxed version of the PMDG MD-11 for both FS9 and FSX. Are the boxed versions up to date or do I still need to install the service pack from the PMDG website? If so, can you please tell me what issues the SP fixes? Thanks

... which is only 2014m or 6608' long. I witnessed the landing on www.flightradar24.com some days ago. I assume that the headwind was strong enough to let them land savely. If I remember correctly the MD11 came from the Caribbean area. Well, that's the TNCM experience in Europe! Have fun and Happy landings!

Hi folks! This is perhaps not the best place to post this question, so please inform me if this is a no no. Couldn't find a category that fits the bill. Did a search, nothing came up. Feel comfortable with you guys (haven't signed up on many forums, just this one and two more. I think), so here goes: I found a freeware airport scenery of Borispol Kiev Ukranie. So I wanted some charts for this AD. This page: http://192.206.28.84...IPS_online.html had links most to places. But... Ukraine AIS is off limits unless you pay, wait for it... 735,17 USD!!! So that's not gonna happen... I've checked Navigraph, they have them, but I'm just out of credits. So …

  20. I cannot figure out whether it is possible to set Autothrottle to 'on' and select the mode to 'thrust'. I want to practise landings with the MD-11 with autothrottle as the only "automation". Is this possible? In other airliners in FSX I have found it useful to use autothrottle in speed-mode and controlling the pitch manually Since there is no autothrottle on/off-switch i guess Autoflight has to be selected and I would have to disarm/deselect any active lateral mode and any pitch mode? But still - I find that the aircraft wont let me choose my own autothrottle mode. Any help would be appreciated.

  23. Started by Simon Larsson,

Hi all! My question is regarding packs on/packs off takeoff. When I choose packs to be on during takeoff via the FMC takeoff page, I get a higher N1 value than if I had chosen a packs off takeoff mode. I'm somewhat confused since I thought that when using packs on the engines would produce less power causing the lower N1 value. TOPCAT gives me lower N1 when choosing packs to be on during takeoff, which is what I also expect, but not the simulation itself. Is there anyone who could throw some light on this? Thanks in advance! Simon Larsson

Found this story on Tourism & Aviation: The McDonnell-Douglas MD-11 Story -> http://www.tourisman...d-11-story.html No doubt the author is regurgitating facts and trivia like no one else I've ever read before: And I was just about give up reading this onslaught of engineering facts pouring off the page, but then he starts to talk about a flight done by the launch customer Finnair from Helsinki to Tokyo. Oh the story comes alive! Sure, he continues to carpet bomb the reader with exceptional knowledge on what goes on up f…
