PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

I can't get armed failures to actually become active. Choosing an active failure from the the PMDG menu works fine - the specific failure text will go red and when back in the sim the failure is active. However, when arming a failure then hitting 'apply' and going back to sim the failure never happens. This is true for any set time period. The armed failure text turns bold in the failures list - is this correct, should it be red? Anyone had this problem over the years? It used to work fine for me... Adam Turley

Hi folks, again I am excited on PMDG's MD11's system depth... :Applause: I am just cruising on my flight EHAM18L-KLM685-MMMX (passed YTS VOR heading OBK now) and outside we have -73°C, TAT -45°C) First I got the warning TAIL FUEL FWD and FUEL TEMP LO, so the fuel system put the rest of 400kg forward, before it gets frozen to an unburnable block of useless weight! Now I get FUEL TEMP LO again with the advice 'DESCEND TO WARMER ALTITUDE', as the fuel temperatur falls also in the right wing tank from -37°C to -39°C so I get down from FL360 to FL 340, but -69°C, TAT -39°C is still too cold. Hi everyone, I've got another problem with the MD-11, I flew an approach at EHAM RWY 06 and paused the simulator to extend the flaps, But when I landed I saw a warning saying ENG3-2-1 FADEC ALTN. What caused this and what does this mean? Greetings!

Hello, I've got several problems with the PMDG MD-11, 1. When the airplane overspeeds the controls "lock" 2. When I use 2x speed or 4x speed only one engine throttle works. 3. Hi folks, even with the OPUS weather engine it happens by and then, that an erratic wind shift kicks out the FMS speed setting. I am just cruising nicely at FL390 with Mach .828 in VNAV on the A576 on my way from EHAM to WADD (T/D in about 30 minutes) and again, bang, - the FMS speed is still shown as a little magenta circle, also - the the FCP setting shows still 'mach.827' in the little window above the speed knob (instead of the three dashes), but - the speed tab shows a solid triangle with .743 next to it! Altough I understand the basic principles of a SID there are may chart details I cannot figure out. As an example I include a SID chart from Marseille,France,SID rwy 13L/R and a screen shot of the MD-11 MCDU. In particular I wish to clearify the following : 1) MNM climb gradient : 6 % to FL80 Is it possible to tune the autopilot to keep that gradient or does one to handfly the aircraft and aim for 6 $ ? 2) Alt Restriction : 4000 Means what ? Hi Folks, A couple months ago these strange symbols appeared. After a long search could not find a solution. I uninstalled the MD, re-installed, fixed all good. Now the problem is back, anyonr have any ideas? I have checked the font of my Win7, Also checked the guage set-up for the PMDG. I can do another re-install, but it is going to come back, I suspect. I´m having a problem with utilizing the HEADING SELECT mode: Each time ( during AUTOFLIGHT ) I change from NAV to HEADING SELECT, the MD11 show´s difficulties with intercepting ( and holding ) a preselected heading. E.g.: when selecting a new heading ( say 090 ) and pulling the selector knob, the MD11 starts it´s turn as expected. However, the Autoflightsystem initially overshoots the selected heading by a certain amount ( usually around 5 degrees ) to a heading of say around 095. Thereafter, the MD11 starts it´s left turn, overshooting heading 090 again, starting to roll out and initiate a right turn when reaching a heading of around 085, and then the …

Hi there! How do I evaluate the initial cruise level that the MD11 is capable of climbing initially to for a given weight? I do not mean the value indicated on the FMS PERF page, but a table in the handbook ( or other ressources around ). I remember there was a table given in the B744X handbook, however, I couldnt find anything similar for the MD11. This is especially of interest on short haul flights with a very high ZFW, in which cases the MD11 is neither able to climb to it's service ceiling ( due to weight ), nor will it be possible to perform a step climb ( due to short flight time ). Hi, I'm experiencing issues with my MD11. I select it in the aircraft menu, and then I select the airport and time. So far, so good. But when I click "Fly now", all I see is a blank "Loading" box (The one that loads every flight) on my desktop. I don't even see the black background on the loading page. Then, FSX tells me that it has experienced a fatal error and it attempts to restart the sim. I run FSX as an admin, tried with and without the UIAutomationCore.dll and attempted it at various airports, default and payware. Nothing works. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello All! got a brain teaser here! I'm running Prepar3d v 1.4 with PMDG MD-11 for FSX, no other addons are added - I used FSX2Prepar3d to install the aircraft. Everything works fine except the runway heading vs navigaion display and auto pilot are off. The aircraft dows not follow the localizer on ILS approach and seems to be selecting a different runway approach heading. I've read all there is to read on the subject available on the internet. The standard answer is to use the Flight 1 registry tool which I have in every concivable manner. I realize the aircraft uses the registry to steer its guages to the magdev.bgl file in the simulator (I have replaced this file). All…

Hello, At the beginning of every flight I have the ability to zoom in and out in the virtual cockpit but once airborne I loose the ability todo this. Once back on the ground and at the gate I can once again use the zoom in and out feature. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks Andy

Is there a way to map the increase and decrease range functions to a joystick button or keyboard key? Looked though all the MD-11 key binds but nothing is there. If not is there an SDK I could use to map the functions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk...typing errors imminent

Hello fellow MD-11 drivers! Today I was flying a 6.5 hour UPS MD-11 flight from EDDK (Cologne) > UAAA (Almaty). While in the Ural mountains in Southern Russia, I got a "Fuel Temp Lo" warning, while at FL360. I did nothing about this, and left the PC for a while................ ........ When I returned, my speed had dropped from Mach 0.825 to Mach 0.69, and when I checked my engine instruments, Engines 1 and 3 had cut out !!! ........ (Engine 2 still running fine). The fuel temperature was extremely low on engines 1 and 3. I descended to FL240, where the "Fuel Temp Lo" warning went out, and engines 1 and 3 were successfully started on the first attempt…

This plane is a culture shock for those familar with Boeing aircraft. I have been able to fly a full flight plan without the problem I am going to describe in the following. When I try to fly a circuit is where I have difficulties. A circuit being takeing off and executing an ILS to the same departure runway. Every thing goes well with speed, altitude and heading control. My problem is that when I review the TO/APPR page, the flaps speeds are blank leaving me to guess. I did not have this problem when flying a full route. Any ideas whet I am going wrong? Thanks,

I had a quick question. When I try to land my MD-11, the lcd flashes idle clamp and i am unable to increase or decrease the throttle. How do I turn this off??

Hi folks, I am just cruising happily SEGU-KLM755-EHAM at FL310, and by and then the Auto Flight switches off out of the blue... There are no sudden wind changes etc. Does anybody have a clue? Thanx in advance

I don't know if PMDG ever does Sales for their products, but a nice discount for the MD11 would be very nice, it's an airplane I love, but for the 79 dollars price tag it's so out of my reach. A Sale would make it sell some extra copies, Win Win situation for PMDG and their costumers, and I don't think anyone would be angry the MD11 has a lower price after more than 2 years from being released.

Hello, When I fly the MD-11 into Fairbanks (PAFA), I do get a misaligned runway symbol on the ND and also the tracking of the ILS cours is not correct. The RWY heading is 197, but the symbol is turned left by 20 degrees. The plane is having the right heading but a significant offset to the right. I did the same approach with the B738 and all was okay. I'm using airac 1211. Anyone have an idea what can be wrong here?

Hello, after sometime using my FSX I discovered finally that I have a weird problem. The problem appears on my PMDG MD11 and NGX. Minutes after take off parts inside the cockpit are getting transparent! I will be more precise. I see properly all the NDs, the PFDs and all the other instruments, but around them everything is transparent. I see the ground! The same on the upper panel. I see all the buttons and switches and the rest is all blue sky! The strange thing about this, is that happens ONLY when I select nightime or late afternoon time. Good evening, I have Navdata Pro from Aerosoft installed for the MD11. Unfortunately some military or private airports are missing in the database. In this case, is it still possible to program the MCDU and fly between airports not present in database ? I know that there is an option for defined waypoints, I tried to create defined waypoints named by their ICAO code by inserting the coordinates of the departure and arrival airports. I also created defined runways. But in the INIT page when I tried to put FROM/TO airports using the defined waypoints, it told me "not allowed".
