PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

Hi, I have only the FSX version at the moment, but considering a second purchase to get the FS9 version. I'd fly it more only FSX is too unstable to risk a 12 hour flight online, to only have a CTD 9 hours into the flight (and I know FSX is the problem, not the aircraft!). What, if anything, is different between the two versions of aircraft? Best regards, Robin.

Hello, I'am trying to reinstall my MD-11 (after a while) Unfortunately without succes. The setup had detected that version 1.20.005 already is installed. However I can find nothing at all about MD-11 on my system. I would like to know how i can activate the detected version. Thanks in advance. Ger (sorry for my bad english)

Hi all, I've just been watching a program on TV about the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital's DC 10, and was wondering if there is a repaint for the PMDG MD11 of this unusual aircraft. I saw a picture of a repaint somewhere on a forum but not sure it was available to everyone to download. Figured it might be a good excuse to fly to some out of the way places! Thanks for any help.

Hello Gentleman! After re-installing the MD-11 today I noticed that the navs and beacons are not displaying, however all my other lights and all systems works 100%. Anyone else encountered this?

Hello folks, As the title says, how do i burn my copy of the latest airac, as navigraph doesnt let you re-download it. I keep getting this error : "the file pmdg has extra information attatched to it that might be lost if you continue copying - the contects of the file will not be affected. do you want to copy the file anyway" That statement is slightly confusing, Then if i select copy anyway i get a "windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file, what do you want window to do?" It wont allow me to select "retry" without getting the ^^ error How do other people copy theirs? Also, can i use my 3rd nav display for weather? if so how do i do…

I was reading/hearing that even real world commercial pilots play the FlightSim game. I would love to hear from one ( or several ) to find out: - What would this game give them ? - Why to play ? - How realistic is the FlightSim game compared to the real world ? - What is not realistic in the FlightSim compared to the real world ? Hi all, I am sure some of you also sim-fly with other ATP planes. My question is what is so special about this bird? Is it more difficult than the Boeing 700s? Does it fly better? I am sure there are pilot out there using the PMDG MD-11 to practice, but what are other reasons? Thanks

Good Day All, Well, I've been flying the MD-11 a bit (new to it) and have done a total of 5 flights in it. I seem to have a bit of a problem with it though, so am hoping I can get some clues here. Before each flight, I click the "Clear" button in the Failures>Edit dialogue box (I've clicked both the "All" section and each individually). Unfortunately I seem to get failures on every flight still. On the last 2 flights, I've only been able to lower the center landing gear. The outboards and nosegear won't come down. I check that my hydraulic pumps are actuated (and they are), but still no go. I do get a brief flash of an orange "HYD FAIL" (I believe that's what it sa…

Hello, A few days ago when I was still flying western airliners, there was a problem with the PMDG MD-11. When I engaged autoland at Pyongyang Sunan, the aircraft was following a glideslope and localizer, around 30-50 metres from the runway, and appeared to do a normal landing, but on grass, not the runway! Any ideas on how to fix this issue? Most probably it's an issue with my custom developed Pyongyang. But the Level D 767 landed just fine. P.S My name is not signed due to privacy reasons, I do not want to turn up on a google search for good reasons.

Well, I think I'm about to pull the pin and go get the MD-11(F). One question, when the engines spool up on start up, do they come up nicely like on the NGX, as opposed to what the default aircraft do where they go to full power before settling back into idle? I love the NGX start up - most realistic I've come across yet. Hopefully the MD-11 behaves the same way? Thanks much!

I am thinking about purchasing the MD-11 as something new to try while I wait for the 777X for long haul flights. Aerosoft has a sale right now and has the MD-11X for $55. Only problem is the Aerosoft website says the boxed version they have is version 1.0. On the MD-11 page on the PMDG website the update to version 1.20 link does not work (404 error). Where can I find the update if I purchase this? Also any issues with windows 7? I am guessing not. Thanks!

The landing and turnoff lights don't seem to be working correctly. With the 3 landing light switches on the overhead panel switched past extended to on there is no light from them in either the VC or 2D panel. In an external view the lights are extended and on but they don't light up terminals, taxiways, runways, etc. The turnoff lights are switched on but they are very dim from the VC and 2D panel, in fact they are useless. Everything worked at one time but now I am confined to daytime operations. Ever try to taxi at night with no lights? Anyone have any ideas? Thank you Micjael Cubine

Looking at a number of tutorials on Youtube, most of them say that the FMS in MD-11X comes preloaded with a number of flightplans. When I look at the Flightplans RTE files in PMDG, all I see are the 2 tutorial routes. Are there other flightplans in the software that can be loaded by airport code. In the SIDS files I saw all of SIDS routes, but supposedly I could plug in the from/to airport codes and the routes would pull up. That does not happen for me. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I want to do a parallel offset (Page 100.26 of the FMC manual) but when I bring up the lat rev screen for any waypoints I have entered there is no Offset Entry option at 5L. I have tried a number of waypoints and none allow me to do this. I'm doing something wrong but have no thoughts as to what. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. EDIT: NM, found it. The waypoint has to be under "from" in the ACT F-PLAN.

So I have the fmc programmed for the whole flight. I'm on the last waypoint of the STAR and want to go to manual flight for the landing. The aircraft if configured for an RNAV landing (do I have this right?) and I now want an ILS landing. What do I do? I can input the ILS frequency into the FMC but how do I input the course? When I turn off the autopilot I have control over pitch and yaw but I have to control the speed using the speed indicator. How do I turn that off? This is my first time using an FMC and I'm having some fun at it. What a great aircraft!!!

Hi, after I bought a new SSD and reinstalled everything yesterday I installed MD11. First I got bad graphics in cockpit with some minor issues with double windows etc. Today it is gone, but now I get just like a big gigantic flying skelett. I have changed FSX.CFG at the TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 The cockpit looks just fine. Anyone maybe could help me? I have the NGX737 and no problem at all. Mats Nordell

I was recently flying the MD-11 on the second tutorial flight from ORD to JFK. I spent a good one and a half hours programming the FMC, entering the navigation data, performing preflight checks etc. I then started taxiing, but, as I am only about 14 years old right now, I get limited time to play. I saved my flight (without saving a panel state, as it brought me the error 'cannot save file'), and quit fsx. The next day, I started my sim up again, but was very surprised to find that all the panel data was gone, the FMC at the main menu page with no data in it, the engines running at idle, and to put a long story short, the plane in a default panel state. OK, been working through Tutorial 1 step by step, and I got to the point where the engines were running and I was ready for taxi. However, when I applied thrust, nothing happened. The thrust levers come up and down ok with my throttles, but there is no power being applied to the aircraft (the engines are confirmed running at idle) and I got an ABS DISARM Caution Light come on as soon as I applied thrust. When I say there is no power being applied, the engine gauges do not move from the idle settings as I apply or take away thrust. So there is something I don't have set correctly. OK, so I attempted tutorial #1 last night, only to find, when I came to add the STAR to the flight plan that the STAR shown in the tutorial doesn't exist for me. BLM2G exists but choosing that resulted in a completely failed approach and dozens of error messages :( I opened the PMDG\SIDSTARS\LZSH file in my FSX install directory and it says: "AIRAC Cycle : 1108 (28/JUL/2011 - 24/AUG/2011) - Rev.1". I have the 737NGX installed, so I'm guessing this is the file installed by that and not the original from the MD-11? Hello All, I encountered some hard disk corruption with my FSX installation which necessitated a re-nstallation of both FSX and the MD-11 software. I have gone as far as editing the registry and deleting all fragments related to both FSX and PMDG software following the normal uninstall process. But several issues linger. If I choose the MD-11 as the default aircraft at startup, all segments of the 2D image open as "locked", This this is easily cleared by right clicking and deselecting the "lock" option. Hi everyone I was wondering if there is any solution to a continues mouse flickering accompanied with a drop of frames down to 9 to 10 in average when I load the MD11 with Virtual Cockpit on my system. Current Setup up: i7-2600 3.40 Ghz Ram 12 GB Windows 7 64 Bits Two GeForce GTX580 Triple Head 2Go Digital Edition running at 168X1050 {3x1} on Card # 1 Samsung 24 inches Monitor on video card # 2.
