PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

First of all, congratulations with setting a new standard for fs simulation!I got a pretty strange thing, I also had it in the PMDG 747X. The autobrake system doesn't work! I activate it and upon touchdown it doesn't come on. What can possibly be wrong?Regards, Joey

Hello Folks - first of all: Amazing job on that MD11!On my third tryout flight today I noticed that the MD on Auto flight tends to oscillate laterally, overbank while intercepting course and subsequently overshoot. After about five minutes intercepts correctly, only for it to start oscillating again. Attached is a screenshot of the map window, just to illustrate my point. Specifically this happened on a segment from LARUX to ROSTI, about 20 minutes apart... I have just noticed while programming the FMCU with the MD11, all references to engine thrust are indicated as EPR rather than N1. All the documentation refers to N1 thrust. How do I change the settings to N1 instead of EPR?Andrew

Hi you Captains,I have just finished a quick trip with this beautiful bird and I have noticed two issues. Could you be so nice and try to help me?1. When I have parked at Heathrow airport before flight and I have looked around VC and then out the windows, the textures became blurred (the ones in VC and these outside the plane - ground, buildings, sky). When I gone outside there were the same blurries. When I have then pushed ESC to go to the FSX exit menu, and the came back to the airplane, everythings came back to normal for short time. OK, I haven't read all the MD-11 manuals yet. But I did read the FAQ for Boeing pilots about the speed targets in the FMS and how ALL targets are treated as AT OR BELOW. Is there anyway to override this so it will treat a hard target as AT and still remain under FMS/NAV/PROF control?Jeff P.

I like to create a new flt pln in the FMS and I have some problems:In the tutorial it shows on pages 33ff the creation of the LHR-ZRH route but this has only 3 airway positions. . .I try to create a pln with 8 airways but after 5 sectors I could not find a way to insert more sectors - also in the manual I could not find a way around. Hi,I just bought the MD-11, but I've had some slight issues with it..1. Spoiler and Flaps axis is reversed compared to all other fsx planes I have, including the default ones...? I have to reverse the axis whenever I switch to the md-11.. Not a big deal, but it is kinda weird that it uses reversed axis compared to all other planes? Is there an option to reverse the axis just in the pmdg md-11?2. Throttles jumps to full and idle and anywhere between rapidly when using ATS. Instead of staying at a setting to keep the speed/accelerate/decelerate, it jumps all over the place and gives an average that is perfectly fine. The speed stays still, but the throttles jumps.. There seems to be a error in the tutorial document, (Or most likely I'm not doing it right) where it says to enter 22 degrees for takeoff flaps in the FMC. There is no 22 degree setting. When I do this, I get flap warnings on takeoff roll. When set to 15 no warning, and takeoff is normal. Could anyone verify this, or tell me what I'm doing wrong?Thanks

Hi,While learning this great airplane, particularly the hand flying part, I came to wonder if in real world the pilots use the manual trim (yoke trim switches) during normal operations when LSAS is active and operating normally?As the LSAS is limited to small inputs below 1500 AGL, it could sometimes be necessary to manually trim the airplane if I'm guessing right?What I've experienced in the simulation is that there is mainly no need of manual trimming so far, but I'm only in the beginning of my MD-11 career.I also wonder if pilots find the MD-11 easy to fly, cause so far I've found it a little trickier in some situations than the 747, or espacially the LvlD 767.

Are the stated minimum and recommended system requirements on the PMDG MD-11 page specific for the FSX version or are they applicable for both versions?Tim

Hi all,Running the MD11 on XP 32bit SP3, 8800GTX, Core2Duo E6850, FSX SP2Twice today I have started a flight from KSEA on the runway all engines running etc and took off. Within a few minutes the LCD displays in the cockpit would freeze. I could still fly the aircraft and hear the sounds etc but the displays would not update. I had to restart FSX to correct.Anyone else seeing this?Graham

Thanks for releasing this great piece of software! My favorite part is the depth of the simulator and the very good fps- wow! I just finished my first flight, the tutorial flight. I ran into just one problem, I get an out of memory error and believe it or not I never got this with the 747x, anybody else get this error? Its really strange.

James,Give us some details on the PMDG keys assignment problem so that we can investigate this.What is your operating system (XP, Vista)? What key combination you tried to assign, and how? Did the assigned key combination showed on the PMDG keyboard command menu or not? In the FSX installation directory there is a PMDG folder. Do you see a PMDG_MD11_Kbd.ini file there? Is the assignment you tried to add listed in this file (open it with notepad)?

The old saying goes - it is never too late to learn something. I was a little frustrated at not being able to fly the MD-11 because of OOM problems. Well, I set the 3Gb switch under Vista and I was able to access the aircraft without the system crashing. I did not change any setting in FSX in order to use the MD-11.So, I'm pretty pleased at this point. Note: My FSX settings are extremely high so this is very good news. Right now I'm using a significant custom AI environment set at 100% plus high autogen settings. I also use nHancer to set my graphics functions.The bottom line - if the aircraft remains stable on my system then it will run on most systems. You might…
