PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

When holding altitude in any autopilot mode (well, not APPR/LAND - at least that I've observed) my MD-11 has a disturbing tendency to develop a harmonic-style nose-up/nose-down pattern. This "wobble" starts slow and becomes full-elevator-travel within a short while, and eventually actually dampens out and we return to smooth flight for a few minutes before starting up again. Characteristic of this is watching the VC's yokes jump instantaneously between forward and back positions, and the autothrottle servos (smoothly) trying to give chase. Hi,Made a number of ILS approaches to Gatwick Rwy 26L and so far no problems except that on touchdown I'm always off to the left with the ILS Loc needle also indicating I'm off centre.I even tried an approach from 20 miles out on the centreline before engaging the autolanding but again by the time I was coming to touchdown I was left of centreline and ILS confirming same. In the last 4 miles it made no attemp to recentre on the ILS.Is this a minor bug?Thanks Ron

I'm having trouble getting the MD-11 to correctly fly the LOOP4 SID out of KLAX under NAV control. I'm taking off on 25R which requires heading of 235 degrees after passing the SMO 160 degree radial. Setting up the LOOP4 SID in the 747, it will show the 235 degree heading in the legs page and fly it. The MD-11 doesn't show it in F-PLN but it does show a magenta line in the ND that looks the 235 degree heading but rather than fly it, when it gets to the intercept where the 235 degree heading starts it continues to fly 250, and the 235 magenta line disappears. Hi,after I disengage the Autopilot (AP) and Autothrust (Att) at the MD11 there are those yellow and red frames flashing constantly in the PFD...:Question: Is there a way to stop/delete this flashing of those warning-frames and if so how? Here is what I mean:Thanks very much for your help! :)

To the PMDG team,please give me a respond!When I start FSX with the MD-11 the following happens:During loading of fsx, there coming 3 undocked panel views:glare shield (top of screen), main view captain side(total screen) and dummy main panel ( a small black bar underneath the main view captain side). This is NOT normal. Then when FSX is loaded I don't have the proper instrument panel.I close all the undocked panels/views and after that I have to go to the menu for the Intrument panel again to get the main view captain side and glare shield. Hey guy's First of all i would like to say that the MD-11 is the best a/c PMDG have done and any other fs developer.I have a problem resuming a flight when i have saved it in FSX, I load the flight backup but i get a green message box at the top of the screen saying flightplan info is wrong or something so there is no flightplan ifo at all, so then i though best to load panel state up as well incase it didnt load up properly but the same message appears, any help would be great because the save and load features are really helpfull for me incase FSX throws a wobbly or work reasons.Thanks again for any help.Paul.

Hi, I have noticed that the speedtape is stuttering when new ranges of airspeeds become visible at the lower end or upper end. (changing the fps rates doesnt fix this). The actual indicated airspeed numbers are changing smooth. On the 747/737 the tape transition are running smoother. Is it possible to improve this for the fs9 release? (for clarification, its the tape itself, not the actual value of speed or altitude) Jan-Paul

The answered to this is probably in the fmc manual somewhere..... but my head is exploding looking through it.This is what I want to do:Load FSX generated flight plan - OK can do thisUse FSX ATC for departure - think i#ve got the hang of this, just use heading and alt mode before switching to nav.Do not use STAR for arrival, just use FSX ATC for vectors onto the localizer - the main questions for the arrival phase are:1. How can I enter the arrival ILS without using a STAR?2. Will the FMC auto tune to the ILS?3. should I use PROF mode for the ILS approach or set speed manuallyI tried an approach last night using FSX atc for vectors and made a write pigs ear of it.

HelloI've just got back into FS (and AVSIM) after a long lay-off. I really fancy trying the new MD-11, but my machine hasn't been upgraded for a few years, and I'm wondering if it could handle the new plane. These are the rough specs:AMD 3500+ 2.2 GhzRadeon X8001 GB RAM I can run FSX reasonably well at medium settings with the stock aircraft, but haven't got any advanced add-ons. I can't afford any new hardware at present, but I'm prepared to forsake some of the eye candy in the sim for the sake of a reasonably fluid simulation of the MD-11.What do you reckon? hello,When I try to land with Autoland,I can't .On the FMA I can read LOC,G/S,APPR ONLY in white instead DUAL LAND in green.The AP disconnects on tne runway.Why???????(All the fly is without problem,no failure)

When I fly in 2D I get about 6 to 7 FPS. In VC I get 30 to 45 FPS, it jumps alot. Also on exterior views I get great FPS. Can anybody think of a reason for this? I much prefer 2D cockpit.ThanksAndrew

I have a 3 year old xps gen 2 gamin laptop, with a Geforce 6800 ultra and 2 gig of ram that does me very well on fs9 and great on fsx, as long as I use default only aircraft. Any addon's I own like the Alphasim SR71 or Ariane 737-900NG have issues with stuttering and frame rates drop from my locked 25 (which holds great with awesome resolution on my 17" screen) in default aircraft to about 15 to 20 with those planes (and the default F-18... so how would this MD11 compare to those... is it really the same as the default airliners or not...? I want to buy, but may wait for the FS9 version where I fly all my heavies primarily. Thanks, Peter

Hello everyone First off I want to say how much I love the MD-11 you all at PMDG do nothing skimpy. It's a great!! Great!! simulation.Now, down to my problem. Every time I shoot an ILS using Autoland it tracks the LOC in about 1 dot length to the left of centerline. I have tried approaches at KBWI, KRIC, KRDU, KJFK, KBOS. Each time the same thing. FMC has a legit flight plane loaded flys the flight plan just fine...I then load the approach. It loads fine and begins the approach just fine. I checked the ILS freq. at all the airports they are good. When the AFS intercepts the LOC it overshoots then follows the LOC left of centerline. The Autoland however, does follow the …

Hey there pmdg.heres my problem.When i download any new liveries and then go onto add or remove programs [windows XP) it says that the liveries i have downloaded are 23GB!! (exactly the same as the MD-11 package)Why is this/is there a problem?Best regardsAlex

Hello,Twice time I disconnect AP on final and that my plane go upward slightly. I have to push the joystick to stop that so there's only two reason that it may cause that (neutral zone of my joystick is correctly defined).The first is the A/P trim movement continue after disconnection (I doubt that's the answer)...The second options is that the AP give me back controls in the same position the joystick was when I pushed A/P at beginning.Any clue ?
