PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

Hello,this might be a rather stupid question, but after pressing the data button on the EIS panel in MAP mode no additional data is displayed on the ND. Is this normal?

Hello,I've got a problem with flying the MD-11 by using the HDG mode.Now I've tried two patterns at two different airports. For flying the patterns I've used the HDG mode. After pulling the HDG knob the MD-11 has followed the selected HDG course but I've observed a permanent movement of the plane about the long axis. After captureing the glideslope everything worked fine. The MD-11 has followed the GS very stable without any movements about the long axis. This problem didn't occur too when flying a route with the MD-11 controlled by the FMS.Can you please tell me whats wrong with my MD-11 when flying in HDG mode?Thanks,Patric

I have been flying the PW version of the Md since I purchased it a month ago. The past few days i flew the GE version ( lufthansa cargo ). I have a problem with the GE model.I noticed as I taxied out ( aircraft within normal limits) that the brkes have little effect. I can use full brakes and if I have idle thrust the aircraft will not come to a stop. Furthermore after I landed Using full brakes I was not able to stop before the end of the runway and effectivley ran off the runway. This NEVER happens with the PW model. Also..the brakes tempatures kept climbing to 419 degrees, before they cooled. whats strange about this was I was not using the brakes at this point as the…

I am very favorably impressed by the MD-11, in particular the overall high quality and the excellent FPS i get with this plane. I am thinking of getting the 400X as well, and I was wondering if someone who owns both would comment on how they compare. I'm particularly interested in the visual quality of the 2D and virtual cockpits, and how FPS in the 400X compares with the MD-11.Thanks,Tom

Ok, here goes...Yesterday I decided to practice some hand flown circuits in the MD11. I had the ILS tuned and the correct RNWY QDM entered in the NAV/RAD page and decided to select the APPR rose on the NAV display. Now, it just so happens that at 2000ft I had a steaming 40kt crosswind. As my mental arithmetic is so bad, I thought it would make life easier if I changed the heading mode to TRK. Sure enough, my current track was displayed in the window and the compass rose swung round too. Great I though, all I need to do now, is line up the TRK bug with the tail of the CDI pointer and that should make the aircraft track downwind, exactly parallel to the runway QDM. Wrong!! …

Hey guys!I'm amazed with PMDG MD-11 for FSX... It's simulation realism level is awsome.I find flying it in the Virtual Cockpit the best way to get all this realism to a full level, but I'm having some issues with VC textures,and I'd like to know if this is normal, if anybody has is to... Hi!I'm really enjoying MD-11. The best add-on I've ever seen. Congratulations to all PMDG team.I don't know if this is happening just with my config but both taxi lights and landing lights are not bright enough to allow a safe taxi.In fact they do not illuminate quite anything, which is very disappointing if we consider the high quality of all systems of the aircraft.Any ideas? Running FSX+SP1+SP2 under XP SP3.RegardsSchmid

I upgraded the flight computer on the MD-11 with Navigraph 0812 AIRAC for PMDG (all). When choosing a STAR at KORD, after I select the runway (32L), the STAR list changes from the usual entries (OXI4, etc.) to a list of runways. If I select one of these runways to see what happens, FSX just freezes. I have tried re-downloading and installing the AIRAC but the result is the same. I got no help or suggestions contacting Navigraph support, although they did respond promptly. Other airports, such as KSTL, do not seem to have this problem. Has anyone else seen this? Is there a solution?Thanks.

I've been trying to build an approach that involves a procedure turn in the FMS. However, the text "procedure turn" on the lateral revision page for the waypoint where the procedure turn begins is dimmed and I get the response "Not Allowed" if I press the LSK.The FMS manual says (on page FMS.100.1) that "..insertion of procedure turns in the flight plan will be covered", but I can't seem to find the topic anywhere.Is the "procedure turn" feature of the FMS implemented? If so, can you help me understand how to use it?Thanks,Tom

I have noticed that I cannot load another MD11 flight after completing one.I'm using Vista home premium.I have created a default Cessna flight at KSEA, which I load first.However,even after ending this flight and loading an MD11 flight,it does not load correctly.I have to exit FSX and restart it.Is this an FSX bug?Ron

Hi!Im having some problems with the paintkit that has been released for the MD11. I am using Paint Shop Pro 7.04 and I'm getting an error message saying "an undefined error has occured - 565" when i try to load PMDGMD-11F_xxx_xxx.psd filesDoes anyone have any suggestion why I'm getting these messages?Never had these types of errors before, but I have to say that this is the first time i am trying to paint an FSX aircraft.I have painted several other aircrafts for FS9 though.thanksReidENZV

Ok, previous threads on this subject have now garnered over 855 combined views and only one official response from PMDG. The official response only acknowledged a typographical error in the PMDG manual and did not address several user's concerns or observations.The bug is this:Dynamic head movement in the PMDG MD-11 cannot be adjusted. Even when such is disabled via configuration file changes, dynamic head movement cannot be disabled with the MD-11. I've almost mastered the MD-11 Tutorial flight from Heathrow to Zurich and am ready to dip deeper by programming the FMS with my own Flight Plan from Heathrow to Edinburgh.FSBuild offers the following waypoints:EGLL (Heathrow)D285GOLNEYTNTPOLRIBELSHAPPMARGOEGPL (Edinburgh)I've been trying to figure out how to enter this Plan by reading the FMS Manual but I'm stuck. Ok I know I need to read the manual , but I only need to know once I have disabled the auto pilot the audible AP warning doesn`t want to go off it is very annoying how do I get it off?And approaching a airport on the 744 FMC there was a APP/DEPP option to select the rnway ho do I do this on the MS 11?Thanks for your help in advanceJohan

Hello, I'm using the MD11 since few days and I love this aircraft. But I noticed that the AutoBrakeSystem does not behave as it should. For exaple, when I take off and I perform a rejected takeoff the ABS doesn not activate (i have the spoilers armed, i have the green box in the primary engine display and i have the ABS switch on the TO position). Nothing...the system does not work.The same happens during the landing roll...ABS activated (MEDIUM generally), spoilers armed ect ect...but the ABS does not activate. I'm sure that the spoilers deploys at the moment of the touchdown so the ABS should come alive.Am I doing something wrong? I precise that I have selected the HI D…

Ok I was reading around about other people with this problem and some potential fixes, I have a huge headache now. LOL. I have:Vista 32 Bit Ultimate SP1 INSTALLEDFSX SP1 and SP2Intel Quad O'Ced at 3.46ghz4GB Ram8800GTX I only get OOMS with this plane usually around 20 minutes after Takeoff.I am really exhausted with the whole tweak this tweak that ordeal, I just want to fly. I read about something called a 3gb Switch but IDK if its for XP or Vista. Do you think that would be an optimal fix? I was wondering if I might point out some issues that could be actioned for the next update.-Improved transition from TOD to profile at high altitude. At present the A/C always ends up above the profile, and then proceeds to pitch down excessively as it enters an "above profile" situation.-A correction to G/S capture when the aircraft is above the glideslope. At the moment, if the localizer is captured while the aircraft is above the glideslope, G/S capture occurs irrespective of deviation and the aircraft dives violently. I just recently purchased the MD-11 but have been unable to fly it at all. When I start up FSX (I have Vista 64), and I try to load the MD-11 from either Default flight or straight from the "Select Aircraft" menu, FSX hangs with a black screen, then says it has encountered a fatal error and quits. It does not do this with any of my other aircraft (including add-ons), and I have tried uninsatlling and reinstalling the MD-11, as well as re-dowloading it from the dowload link and re-intalling it. Everything appears to be pointed to the correct path, and all permissions have been set.Any suggestions?Thanks,Tim Fox

I've being going through the London to Zurich tutorial,and I can,t seem to get the speed above around 218 knots KIAS,after take off.Iknow this aircraft is different from the Boeing,but even after reading the FAQ on the differences.I'm stuck.Any advice appreciated.Ron

Hi guys, I found some odd behaviour I am reasonably sure was not deliberate. A flight plan created and saved in the MD11 can not be loaded in the 747. I am using FSX + acceleration, XP SP3, 747X V2.1Regards,Paul Smith.
