Hi allI, like others, purchased the PMDG MD-11 when it first came out and took advantage of the savings to be had in purchasing both the FSX and FS9 versions at the same time in one bundle. I have just returned from a month-long holiday and am downloading the MD-11 FSX/FS9 combo, which is 300MB. Is it possible, as I already have installed the FSX version, to download only the FS9 version somehow? It would save on time. Unless this download includes patches that will bring both versions up-to-date?Regards,

Guys,I have a question that I'm having a hard time thinking of how to describe, so I'll start with a story of what I do and what results:Cruise Step-descents.Often found in Eurocontrol. It doesn't appear to be programmable in advance, 330/350/340, so I'm left with executing it in the air. My question is, how do I do that? My first few attempts have been to simply dial the new altitude on the autopilot panel and use a low v/s to descend. However, this causes the aircraft to go into descent mode, and the pressurization starts it's slow descent towards the airport. If I dial in the new cruise altitude on the INIT page of the FMC, the cabin altitude plummets and cabin ra…

Hello friends, just want to make a little suggestion for improving the failure module of the wonderful MD-11:For me the core of the failure simulation is the possibility to give it some randomness. I think that's the most realistic way the use the MD-11. Without there wouldn't be the need for in depth knowledge of the systems. But there's one thing that could be improved with nearly no costs but a huge effect: Give us the possibilty to set the random failure rate not in EVENTS/10 hours but in EVENTS/100 hours. See if I do a flight that lasts nearly 10 or more hours and want to use the random failure generator it's sure there WILL BE A FAILURE. That's not realistic. With a r…

Hi SupportSorry for my bad english but i`m a german.I`m not sure but i must read many topics with unbelievable storys about the MD11 update. Is it correct that it is possible by an update the complete FSX can be destroyed? Is it correct that this was programmed consciously in such a way by PMDG? I hope its not correct and only one rumor am. Greets Detlef Kr

First I gotta say OUTSTANDING JOB! I purchased the combo pack when it first hit the streets and I am NOT disappointed (well worth the wait). It's quite a feat you guys accomplished within the limited confines of FS9. The VC FPS are terrific. I just did EDDF->EGLL and everything worked perfectly including the DUAL LAND feature I had to use since EGLL was socked in with 0 viz. However, (there's always a "however," insn't there) Is there a way you can replicate the feature of the fluttering spoilers on the FS9 version of the MD-11 like on the FS9 747? That's such a cool effect and I'm sad to see it wasn't carried into the FS9 version. I would put that on the top of…

Hello, yesterday I updated fs9 to version 9.1. I verified it by running fs9, selecting help, and then selecting about fs9. it displayed the new version. Today I purchased the MD-11, ran the installer and right away it told me that I do not have the updated version of 9.1. Any ideas would be appreciated, thank you, douglas earl PS. I just tried to install version 9.1 again and it says I already have the updated version. I have a legal version of fs9, the cd is in my computer. I am not violating any rules. douglas earl

Well, the massive ocupation of the forum by MD-11 pilots is a fact. It's time for us, PMDG 737 and 747 flyers, to simply seat back and wait for the storm to pass away. Some others are busy with two old quarrels: 777 vs 320 and FS9 against FSX...Now, (adding some kerosene to the fire after both MD-11 versions are already out of the assembly plant), a question for some PMDG representative:Which version is selling better ?. :( Not asking for total numbers (that I know you are not going to publish), but for proportions or %.Eagerly waiting :( for your kind information. Thanks in advance.

I am going to go to Frys to get another copy of FS9, will it recognize the the FS9upd or will I have to reinstall the 9.1 upgrade again? A simple question. On the 744 at T/O I increase engine thrust to around 60-70% N1 to stabilize then hit TOGA I can clearly see on EICAS exactly what target thrust I have commanded when in manual throttle. On the MD11 PW Engines when I bring the thrust up to stabilize I dont see any marker that tells me what thrust setting I am commanding, same goes for a Landing with thrust off.So say I want to command 88.2 N1 or 1.4 EPR etc how do I tell that my throttle setting is correct? With the huge lag on Jet engines I don't want to be guessing.by the way I did RTFM and have started reading it again now the aircraft is in my hanger, but I feel I am missing something very obvi…

Hi.I tried short route with entering published holding at fix.Everything goes ok, but after exiting from holding at PIS (immediately after exit APPROACH is armed and a/c is established on ILS), there is no change to new active waypoint. To be more precise the route was LDZA OBUTI PIS (HOLD at PIS) then ILS for rwy05 at LDZA (no STAR and no transition). After exit from holding at PIS I overfly PIS and there is no change to new waypoint (should be OM05). A/C is still in approach mode and capturing goes OKNext question, after executing GO-Around a/c does not fly missed approach on right way. The route looks ok with correct inbound course and RH turn (for published holding), bu…

Hi, As you can see on the screenshots and on the real picture, the yoke, rudder pedals and gray bay between the rudder pedals should be placed more to the right. The hole picture of yoke, rudder pedals should be symmetrical with the vertical red line in the middle.Especially on the captain's side it needs some adjustment in my opnion.(The preset viewpoints you provide DO have the vertical red line as a reference and this is OK, but when you move the yoke forward you see that it is not in the middle of your line of sight and that's not right)On the first officer's side the displacement is a little less, but could still be moved a little left. Also, I think that the height of…

I bought it after downloading and looking into the documentation. What I saw was very impressive! More than 1500 pages - that could become a real challenge... Than I had a deeper look into the tutorial flight - and that gave the impetus. For me this tutorial was the guarantee to get an easy access to such a complex simulation and to have immediately success. And now, after my first flight, I have to make a big compliment to the author: this tutorial is easy to understand, short, but very informative and it has a clean layout. Now I am gratefull to have this plane purchased. Thank you to all of the PMDG team, but especially to the author of this tutorial! Why did you buy t…

Hello, I currently have the PMDG 747 and am thinking about purchasing the MD-11. I'm running fs-9, version 9.0. The download instructions say you must have version 9.1 before downloading the MD-11. It also says if you update to 9.1, it may affect the add on scenery files. Would I have to uninstall all scenery files before installing version 9.1? Thanks for any information douglas earl

Hi.At the moment I'm trying to understand how to dump fuel. But the dump stopped before I wish it should have stopped! I've attached a picture where you can see dump status on the instruments when the dumping stopped. It should have continued to a GW of 205.000 kg. Also I've been reading in the doc files trying to understand what I'm missing or doing wrong. Can someone tell me in a simple way (english is not my native language) what I have to do to get the dump continued. For any advise I thank you in forehand.RegardsBoerge (Jensen is my last name)

Hello,I have question regarding the MD-11 for fs9. I noticed during climb and passing 10,000 ft, I get a pretty good thrust reduction. I am unable to find anything in the manuals about a possible automatic climb derate while climbing through 10,000 ft. On my last flight from KABQ to KONT, at 10,000 ft the thrust limit went from 1.41 epr to 1.34. No big deal as acceleration to climb speed and rate of climb were still good, but just curious. I know climb derates are an option for the MD-11, but they are not included on the thrust limits page. Any ideas?ThanksAdam

While on a nice stable approach with the MD-11 I switched off the autopilot at about 1000 feet above ground. Speed was okay. Then flaps/slats were automatically retracted (without me noticing it, I must admit). I only realized this later when watching the landing from the outside perspective: No flaps at all. What was I doing wrong, how to prevent this happening again? Thanks for any helpful hint.

There is a lot of discussion on the forum about the bad taxi, landing lights on the runway (ground). In my case they are to heavy shining and not focused on the ground. It is better to put them Off. But I can't find solutions.I use the orgiginal spotlight.bmp file of FSX My system WINXP 32 Prof, SP2, latest drivers etc.Is there a solution I can try to fix the lighting. On the web you find a solution called Nick's light fix Version 2 for FS2004. Can I use this also for FSX or do I get other problems. Is the somebody who have experience with this fix?Errol

Hello All;I love the MD-11. It is a great aircraft. I am having two issues though. Maybe they are both my problems. First, When I disengage the autopilot, I hear the "Autopilot" audible warning repeat continuously until I land...how do I stop it.Second, when I trim using the joystick, the trim moves to the correct position and then resets to neutral. I can't seem to get it to stay especially when switching views. Thanks for all of the help in advance!

I am running XP SP3, FSX SP2, and the MD-11 with the recent update. I am trying to do the tutorial and want to save it at various steps along the way. I was able to save it after setting the Load Manager. I then tried to save it again when ready for pushback and after entering my name for the flight and pressing the button to save it I got a black screen for about a minute, following which I got a message that FSX had encountered a problem and has to close. I relaunched FSX and redid the flight to the point where I had completed pushback. I tried to save the flight at that point and the same error occurred. The error signature is as follows:Event type: BEXThen are listed …

Hi all,Before trying things myself I was wondering if anyone has tried putting the 2d cockpit + pedestal + overhead on extra monitors ?Or is using a home cockpit with the flightdisplays undocked on extra monitors ?If you have it perhaps you can post some (screen) shots of it amd tell us how you did it.I was even thinking of putting the 2d cockpit on 2 monitors on a server and then through Wideview the 3d cockpit on a client ( just for 3d viewing ). Thanks,Gerard Salden
